Waiting on Faith (She's Beautiful Series Book 2)

I released my lip and continued to look him up and down. I was hungry, but not for what was in that brown paper sack. Shaking my head, I stood and made my way to the man I needed more than I wanted.
I didn’t stop until I was pressed against him, my soft to his hard. I didn’t give him a chance to speak. I stood on my tiptoes, making sure my breasts brushed against his chest, reached up, and brought his mouth crashing into mine. I feasted on his lips, and when he didn’t give me what I wanted, I nipped at his bottom lip. He took the hint and let me in.
“Baby, I brought you lunch, I had no idea it was me,” he said, breathlessly chuckling against my lips.
“Umm hmm,” was all I could muster before I snaked my arms around his neck and pulled my body up so I could wrap my legs around his waist. His hard cock hit me straight at my core and his hands cupped my ass to help hold me, pulling me harder into his erection.
“Oh my God, babe. Take me to the bedroom, please.” I knew I sounded like an insatiable greedy harlot, but I didn’t give a damn, all I knew was I needed him to help relieve all the built up tension.
“Hmm, aren’t we bossy today?” He chuckled again.
I rubbed against him once more before I released my hold. Once my feet touched the hardwood floor, I took three small steps back, threw him my most seductive smile, cocked one eyebrow, spun slowly on my tiptoes, and walked toward the bedroom. Counting another eight small steps, I removed my T-shirt.
Putting a little more sway in my hips, six small steps later, I tucked my thumbs in my waistband and slid my cotton shorts down my legs. After stepping out of them, I bent so my barely covered ass was on full display, picked up my shorts, and tossed them over my shoulder toward him. It was after I heard the swish of fabric hitting the ground that I glanced over my shoulder at him. He hadn’t moved an inch, but his hand was buried in the middle of his unbuttoned jeans and was moving up and down while his face emitted a look of raw hunger.
I took three more small steps and reached behind my back to unhook my bra, letting it fall carelessly to the floor. The sound of Cy’s footsteps told me he was done waiting. I stayed standing with my back facing him. The anticipation that built as I waited for his hands to land on me was driving me mad, and by the time I felt his kiss and love bite at the back of my neck I was on fire. Then he delivered a love slap to my right ass cheek, and I thought my knees were going to go.
“Woman, I hope you know what you’re doing. After that sexy little show, I won’t be able to do this slow and sweet.” His voice was low and gravelly, and the sound alone made the pulsing sensation at my nub stronger.
“Does it look like I want slow and sweet? I want whatever you give me, as long as it’s with you, it’ll always be sweet to me,” I admitted breathlessly. I needed him to take me already. I couldn’t hang on any longer. I took another two steps, turned, and pressed my back flat against the wall. I let my hands hang loosely at my sides and didn’t try to hide the fact that my breathing was out of control.
Cy unzipped his jeans, giving himself just enough room to release his thick cock from its restraint, and stroked with purpose. Taking a step closer, his eyes dropped to my lips and then to my bare, pebble-tipped breasts. He swooped in, taking my nipple in his mouth and sucking hard. As if it were the most natural thing in the world, my body responded. My head scraped against the wall and my back arched.
“Cy . . .” I didn’t know what else there was to say; he knew exactly what it was I was waiting for. He switched to the other breast, giving it the attention it desired while his cock pressed into my belly. I removed my hands from the wall and wrapped them around his throbbing cock, swirling the ivory bead around his swollen head. I felt more than I heard his gravely groan against my skin seconds before he released my nipple with a pop.
He moved his oral assault up my neck as he grabbed onto my hips, pulling me closer to him. That wasn’t close enough, and seconds later, his hands were under my ass, yanking me up and forcing my legs to spread wide for him. I wrapped myself around him and let him cage me against the wall. My thong was snapped from my body, and his teeth bit into my earlobe.
“I’m gonna fuck you until you see stars and all that shit, baby, right up against this wall.”
Oh My God! If it were possible to orgasm from words alone, that would have done it. Then with one fluid movement, he was inside me.
“Shit.” His warm breath tickled my ear and a whimper escaped me, I knew he was holding back. He stood still for a bit. The rise of his chest pressed against my breasts as he took in a few deep breaths. Then his hips took over, and oh my Lord, there was nothing slow and sweet about his thrusts. They were deep and powerful, pushing me harder and harder against the wall with every single one. It was the most delicious feeling I had ever experienced.
“Babe— ” I squeezed my thighs together.
“Oh shit, Blue.”
Then, the savage beast appeared with an unrelenting, punishing momentum. The intensity of my orgasm spiraled lower and lower, ready to explode with a force I’d never known.
Burying my head in the crook of his neck, I let him take me and relished in the way my body jerked from his hard and fast thrusting.
“Oh my god, Cy. You feel so damn good.” My words were a jagged, hot whisper as I placed my lips close to his ear. Running off pure need, I pushed my hips back on his as he thrust forward. “Harder,” I said with a moan, and he obliged, pushing impossibly farther into me. It was what I needed, and I fell over the edge. My body quaked around him, and I barely noticed when his movements became jerky and he pulsed inside me, falling over his own breaking point.
His breathing was still ragged. “Baby . . .” He looked at me, staring deep into my eyes. “I love you, Blue. I love you so much.” He leaned in, and when our lips touched, I felt the heat and fervor of our kiss. It was hungry, passionate, and encompassed everything I felt about him.
“I love you, Cy,” I admitted against his lips, before kissing him deeply. I did love him with everything that I was, and I didn’t want to hold myself back from showing it anymore. He kissed me as if I were the air he needed to live, which in turn took my breath away.
“Take a shower with me?” he eventually asked, as he moved from my lips to nip along my jaw.
“Only if you say it again.”
“I love you.”
Leaning against the bathroom doorjamb, I admired Cy as he sat on the edge of the bed with his back facing me. The display of his broad, masculine shoulders started a trail that led to a delicious curve all the way down to his lean waist wrapped in nothing but a towel. He had his phone pressed to his ear, and I daydreamed of what a life together would be like, how happy he’d made me in the few months we had been together, but I was quickly brought back to the now hearing him spill a itty bitty white lie.
“Hey, Dad, uh, I won’t be back to the shop.” I stared as his shoulder blades moved. “Yeah, I think it’d be best if I stay here with her, make sure she’s okay.”
After the explosive wall sex and the very intimate shower that followed, how could I not be okay? If my guess was correct, he probably felt the need for the both of us to spend the rest of the afternoon naked in bed, wrapped in each other’s arms. And who was I to complain? No one, that was who.
“Worried about me?” I pushed off the doorjamb and moved toward the bed.
Cy tossed his phone on the nightstand and turned at the waist. “I always worry about you, baby.”
His smile was forced, and I didn’t like the serious expression on his face. I stepped closer and crawled onto the bed until our lips touched. I pressed a soft kiss to his lips and I lay down, covering myself with the sheet.
“Come lie with me.” I patted the bed and his left eyebrow rose. I wanted him close, but I also needed a connection deeper than just the amazing sex.
Cy made a show of unwrapping the towel from his waist and tossing it to the floor. He put on the boxer briefs he had lain out on the bed and scooted under the sheet so he was facin
g me. When he reached up and brushed his fingers across my cheekbone, down the side of my jaw, and over my bottom lip, I reveled in the feel of his skin against mine.
Admiring and studying the look on his face, I knew something weighed heavily on his mind. He brushed loose tendrils behind my ear.
“Talk to me.” I scooted a little closer and tangled my leg between his.
“I’m just taking this all in. I never thought I would have this, and yet . . .” His thumb ran the length of my bottom lip. “Here you are, you’re my girl.” The emphasis he put on ‘my’ left a tingling feeling in my heart. His calloused palms ghosted caresses over the length of my body. He was speaking with sated, smoky eyes, and my heart plunged into a continuous free fall.
“Baby?”
“Yeah?”
“When you think of a fire or a flame, what colors do you see?” I asked. She looked at me with a little bit of confusion.
“Red,” she answered, giving the obvious answer and shrugging. “Maybe orange, too? I don’t know.”
“You’re close.” I half smiled and brushed another loose strand of her hair away from her face.
“The blue is not always visible, it’s tucked low, deep below a burning flame, it holds the most intense heat. The blue in a flame symbolizes everything that’s deep within you. The part that isn’t always visible because you keep it tucked away. It’s the most intense part of your being.”
I paused because I didn’t want to overwhelm her. What I was telling her was heavy, but unless she understood the depth of what I felt for her, she wouldn’t understand the nickname.
I was so crazy in love with her.
“Blue . . . I placed a soft kiss on her lips and continued. “Then there’s the red, which is obvious.” My hand reached up twisting in her long, deep-red mane. “The fire you possess, your light.” Giving her another soft kiss, I whispered, “You’re my fire, Blue—my light. You give me hope. Before you, I didn’t care. My heart was dark for such a long time. I didn’t want to trust anyone, let alone love, but you . . . your fire brought me back to life.”
IT HAD BEEN a trying week. First, my sister’s uncalled for attitude toward Natalie and then the break in and all the shit that had tagged along with it. I had spoken to Pete earlier in the day, and there were still no leads. For a hot minute, he thought he might have had something, but it turned out to be nothing. Neither of us understood how someone could do that much damage without leaving a trace behind.
Pete had her whole place dusted for fingerprints, but whoever did it knew exactly what they were doing. So, he spread the word and kept on the lookout for the black SUV I’d seen two days in row. Turns out there are thousands of them within a ten-mile radius, so I wasn’t holding up much hope there either. Natalie was convinced it was her lunatic ex-boyfriend, Trent. For his sake, I hoped it wasn’t.
Since there was nothing more Pete could do, we had cleaned up the mess made, and I had told Natalie I’d take her shopping to replace whatever was damaged.
Three hours later, we were walking out of the last store for the day, and honestly, I was thankful. I wasn’t much of the shopping type. I slid my shades down to cover my eyes and asked, “So what do you want to do now?”
Silence.
“Blue?” Looking over my shoulder, I realized she had stopped and was a good ten feet away facing in the opposite direction. “Baby?” Still no answer. I walked back to where she stood and laced her fingers in mine. “Blue, what’s wrong?”
Her body shivered against mine before she looked at me with fear in her eyes and the color had almost drained from her face. The sight of her clutching onto her phone made the hairs on the back of my neck stand. Stepping in front of her, I grabbed onto both her shoulders and bent at the knees so I could search her vacant eyes. “Baby, talk.” Even I heard the sternness in my voice.
“The car,” she barely squeaked out before swallowing hard. “I just got a call, but no one was on the line.”
“Baby, what car and what call?” I glanced around, but there was no one. I grabbed her hand and dragged her back into the store. “What’s going on? You need to talk to me.”
She looked over her shoulder toward the door, and when she turned back to look at me, some of her color had returned to her cheeks. “There was a white car parked.” She pointed to a now empty parking spot on the street. “It had Texas plates and there was just something strange about it.” She shivered again then waved it off. “Never mind, let’s go.”
“No way! Let me call Pete first.”
“No, it’s okay. It was probably nothing, like this whole damn thing—a big cluster you-know-what of nothing.” The aggravation was clear in her voice. She began walking out of the store, and I was close on her heels.
“Baby, stop. We need to call Pete.” I reached for her hand.
“Okay, but not here.”
As soon as we made it back to the truck, I dialed Pete’s number and handed her the phone. I listened carefully to the one-sided conversation, making sure she didn’t miss even the tiniest of details.
It didn’t take too long before she ended the call and handed me back my phone. “What’d he say?”
“He said he appreciated the call, and that was a smart move. If we have any other strange events, even if it is just a hang up call, we should let him know. He also said he would personally look into it. Whatever that means.”
If Pete said he would handle it personally, I would take his word for it.
“Well, I have an idea,” I said, twisting my fingers with hers and planting a kiss on the back of her knuckles.
“And what might that be?” She forced a smile.
“Remember how you said you wanted a dog of your own?”
“Yes! Yes, Cy. I want to get a dog!” she squealed out before I even had a chance to finish what I wanted to say, scooting across the seat so she could wrap her arms around my neck and kiss me—hard. I loved that the simple things made my girl happy.
I nodded. “Well, it’s settled then. We’re going to go to get you a dog.”
Natalie asked if I could take her to the humane society because she wanted to check there first for a rescue animal.
The moment she stopped in front of the third kennel, I knew we wouldn’t need to take another step. That was where she fell in love, and now, she was the proud new owner of her very own one-year-old calico Beagle named Sadie. After the adoption process, we stopped by the pet store so I could run in and grab a few things for Sadie.
I had just thrown the bag of dog food over my shoulder and grabbed the brown paper bag with Sadie’s goodies when it dawned on me that Boones may not take to her so easily. I hustled quickly into the house and stopped short. Natalie was kneeling on the living room floor with Sadie in her arms and Boones checking out the new adoption.
“If that’s how easy it’s going to be for you with our babies one day, I think I want a house full of ‘em.” I laughed at the joke, but Natalie didn’t move. In fact, her posture screamed tense. “Blue?” Maybe it was the way I said her name, because she relaxed a bit.
“Did I say something wrong?” I asked, dropping the bags and pulling her close to me.
She shook her head. “It’s nothing. I’m being silly is all.” She set Sadie on the floor, and we both watched as the little dog made her way to Boones and unceremoniously plopped down halfway on top of him.
“Hey, I know something is bothering you. You can talk to me.”
She turned to face me and her hand reached up to cup my cheek. “You’re too good to me, and I can’t shake the feeling that my happy is going to get pulled from right under me.”
I leaned into her touch. “Blue, you gotta stop thinking like that. I’m here, and I’m not going anywhere.”
“You know what?” She shook her head lightly. “After the shit storm that blew in this week, I think we need a night out.” Her face lit up. “What do you say we tell all our friends that tomorrow night we’re all going out?”
“I’d like
that.” She crawled into my lap so she could lay her head against my shoulder. “I love you, you know that right?”
Kissing her forehead, I whispered, “I do, and I love you too, baby, more than you know.”
I WAS SQUASHING any kind of anxiety and promising myself I’d enjoy a night out with my man and my best friends. This was going to be the first time in a long time that everyone was going to be there, including Grace and Matt. So, it was more than just a night out. We were also making a kind of going away party, too. Apparently, Matt dropped the bomb that he and Connor were moving to New Mexico after the holidays. It was kind of sad, since Connor and Drew were best friends, but we couldn’t be too upset. From what Matt said, the job he was taking did sound pretty sweet. I finished getting ready and walked out into the living room. My jaw dropped.
“Lord, have mercy.”
I couldn’t take my eyes off of him. He was dressed in a white, long sleeve button down, and his sleeves were rolled up to his elbows. He had on a black vest and dark-blue jeans that hugged his muscular thighs in the most delicious way. I heard him chuckle at my bewilderment before he stood from the couch and walked toward me.
“You look absolutely gorgeous, baby.” Cy kissed me, and his hand reached around my waist, touching my back. I felt him pause and hold his breath, and then he pulled away. The mixture of lust and a conniption ready to hit full force. “Blue, what the hell is this, baby?”
“What is what, babe?” I said, feigning ignorance.
“Christ, have mercy.” He shook his head. “Quit the act, woman. Where the hell is the rest of your dress?”
“I’m wearing it, silly.” I smiled as he grabbed my hand and planted a kiss against my hand before releasing it so he could walk around and look at the backless part of my dress, which was all-the-way-down-to-the-Dimples-of-Venus backless.
Cy grunted and hissed. “Baby, I think there’s a lot of your dress missing.”
