Big Bad Bite
“If you like funny paranormal romance with crazy but endearing characters, Big Bad Bite will be for you.”
- Swept Away By Romance
“I enjoyed the crisp, fast paced writing style that flows smoothly through the story. Within the pages, humor, action, suspense, and romance all mix together for a laugh out loud story that keeps you hooked to the very end. It’s not completely lighthearted though. Some intriguing subplots balance well against the humorous situations to reveal a serious side to the story… All in all, Big Bad Bite is steady and action packed with plenty of twists and turns that delighted me. I enjoyed the light and dark aspect that is brought into play-they blend well together… Jessie Lane is definitely an author to watch for those who love zany, adventures, romantic PNR.”
- Smexy Books
“Big Bad Bite was one of those books that was hard to put down. There was action, mystery and plenty of heat. There were also more than a couple of tense moments along with even a few tears. I love a book that keeps me on the edge of my seat and this one definitely did that. The world building was also great. Just the way I like it… familiar enough to make ‘sense’ yet unique enough to make it the authors’ own.”
- Creative Deeds Reads
Walk On The Striped Side
“…this series is building to be a go to for PNR fans!”
- Little Read Riding Hood
“Seriously y’all if you’re looking for a fun and sexy paranormal romance you need to pick up Walk On The Striped Side, I’ll never look at cat toys the same way… Fans of Shelly Laurenston and Jessica Sims will fall in love with Jessie Lane’s Big Bad Bite series.”
- The Book Nympho
“Not only did Gage fulfill my alpha male, hot guy requirement, but this book had so many times when I was reading it that I was literally laughing out loud or giggling… This book is so good, the writing is flawless, it’s seriously highly, highly recommended.”
- Book Boyfriend Reviews
“Fans of outrageous, snark filled, sexy paranormal will enjoy Jessie Lane’s latest release-Walk on the Striped Side-book two in her Big Bad Bite series. A lightweight paranormal filled with lots of action, sarcasm, threats of bodily harm, and that’s just in the first few pages. Heavily character driven, our hero and heroine go balls to the wall as they fight their way through love, loss, reconnection, and annoying siblings. Per usual, Lane offers the reader a crisp, fast paced writing style that flows smoothly through the story. Humor, action, and romance all mix together for a laugh out loud story that keeps you hooked to the very end.”
- Smexy Books
Lone Wolf Wanted
“Jessie Lane writes fun, sexy characters with a bit of sass.”
- Patricia A. Rasey, national bestselling author
Bears Do It Better
“This is my first book by Jessie Lane and most definitely will not be my last. I have not laughed this hard at a book in a while. The quirky humor was great.”

Sassy and a little Bad-Assy
“Absolutely hysterical! Really enjoyed the playfulness of the characters and their word play. While not completely comedic it had just the right amount of emotion to make both H/h feel real. I do love my HEA's. Thank you Ms. Lane for bringing a little laughter to my day.”

Jenna
“Have you heard the news?”
Adam’s gaze was glued to Jenna’s moving lips, from where she had her chin perched on his chest. Warm amber eyes, lazy from their love making, watched her inquisitively, waiting for her to finish.
“Gage knocked his mate up.”
The left side of Adam’s lips kicked up in a grin, and he mumbled, “Poor guy.”
It was her turn to be amused. She was about to lay the other half of the story down and knew exactly how Adam would react.
“He did it on purpose, Adam.”
It didn’t take long for his eyes to bug out of his head, and those perfect lips that she loved so much dropped open in aghast. “Why in the hell would he do that?”
Jenna snorted in amusement at her mate’s look of horror. “Careful. If anyone in the pack hears you talking like that, they’re going to think you’re against having kids.”
Strong fingers stroked through her hair, and Jenna’s sense of contentedness magnified. She loved these moments when it was just her and her mate, shutting the world out.
“You and I both know that’s not the case. I love the idea of us having pups one day. Just not right now.”
In a move so lightning quick it had her head spinning, Adam flipped Jenna onto her back on the bed. Spreading her thighs wide, he snuggled their hips together so she could feel his rejuvenated hard length against her sex. She couldn’t stop the moan that escaped her as Adam rocked it up and down her clit, which was still sensitive from the earth-shattering sex they had just finished a few minutes ago.
“You’re trying to kill me,” Jenna moaned.
Adam leaned down and nipped her lip. “Never. Killing you would defeat my master plan of fucking you stupid every day.”
She couldn’t help laughing at his blunt words. It was so like her mate to think with his dick. She knew she owned all of him, including his heart. That didn’t mean she wasn’t going to tease him for being such a man.
“I see how it is. You only want me for my body.”
He ran his lips down her neck to the spot on her shoulder where he had given her his mate mark and kissed it. It was something Adam did all the time, as if he was paying homage to the spot on her body that made her his. “Wrong again, mate. I want to own all of you.”
“You do own all of me.” She then gasped as he slid inside her, filling her with his hard length.
“I know,” Adam whispered in her ear. She thought about smacking him on the ass for being cocky, but then he whispered in her ear, “Just as you own all of me.”
As her mate made love to her again, a little voice taunted her in the back of her head—her wolf. You don’t own all of him. You’ve yet to give him our mate mark.

Jenna
In the middle of the night, a phone rang. Jenna’s groggy mind knew that meant it was pack business or police business, and neither were good.
Rolling away from her sleeping mate, who was all too used to her phone ringing at all hours of the night, Jenna grabbed the nuisance off the nightstand and looked at the caller ID.
Captain Nelson.
Police business it was, then. Immediately, all of her instincts went on high alert as she sat up and answered the call.
“O’Conner here.”
Jenna felt Adam stir next to her at the sound of her voice. She hated to wake him up when it wasn’t pack business.
“Get your ass to the station, double-time, and gear up. We have an active shooter situation.” She couldn’t help wondering if her mate was awake enough to listen to her captain snap on the other end of the line.
Then the call disconnected, not that she needed to hear anymore.
Jumping out of bed, Jenna was dressed in seconds and out the door, not bothering to wake Adam to tell him goodbye or that she loved him in her haste. She jumped on her black Hayabusa motorcycle and sped all the way to the station.
Once she was booted and suited up, ready for action, Jenna headed for the large garage bay that held the SWAT team’s van. Her partner Kent showed up as she did and held the van door open for her with an exaggerated wave as she jumped up into the back of the vehicle. She knew her partner liked to play the part of a gentleman with his playboy charm, but he knew better than to pull that shit on her, so she gave him a squinty-eyed glare.
Kent took a seat next to her with a shit-eating grin as they waited for the rest of their team to get in. Minutes later, their van was on the move and Captain Nelson was talking to them while standing up and holding a grab bar attached to the ceiling.
“We have an active shooter on the University of Wilmington campus.” Captain Nelson turned to the side so he could point to the whiteboard behind him that had been magnetically attached to inside of the SWAT van.
There, on the board, was a hard sketch floorplan of a section of the UNCW campus.
“What you all see here is the Technology Assistance Center, also known as the Randall Library. That is where our shooter is. It’s surrounded by four other buildings. The students inside have been told to stay put until an officer can clear their building. That doesn’t mean the students have listened. Therefore, you have scared and confused college students running around. Keep an eye out for them so our shooter doesn’t try to escape and blend in with those fleeing the area.
“In front of the library you have King Hall, and off to the left side is Kenan Hall. Behind the library is Bear Hall and DeLoach Hall. Every building has to be considered a possible getaway for our shooter to hide in. That’s why it’s imperative that the shooter never leaves the library. We could easily lose the perp on the campus.”
The van took a sharp turn and the driver yelled, “ETA, five minutes!”
Captain Nelson gave the man a thumbs-up then turned back. “From the few phone calls that we’ve received from inside the building, we have confirmed injured and dead, but no total numbers. What we do have confirmed is that there is only one shooter, and it’s our job to go in there and take him out by any means necessary.” Looking to the front windshield, Captain Nelson gauged their location, and then turned back to them again.
“Here’s the details on the perp that dispatch was able to get from one of the callers. Shooter is a male, Caucasian, approximately five-foot-nine, with brown hair. He has at least two weapons, both handguns, but you’re to assume that he has more.”
The van came skidding to a stop and everyone held their positions on the bench, waiting for the f
inal orders.
Captain Nelson looked at each person for a moment then, with a grave face, said, “I don’t want to lose anyone today, so double-up with your partner. We’re going to surround the building and make entry from all sides. Take the perp out with a non-lethal shot if possible. Get in position, and then wait for the go-sign to engage the building. Any questions?”
The entire team responded with “No, sir,” and then the doors opened. They piled out of the back of the SWAT van, and as soon as the team was unloaded and ready to go, they were split up into four two-man teams.
Kent and Jenna split off to take the left side of the building. There was no door, so they huddled around one of the windows, waiting for the others to get into place. The seconds that ticked by felt like an eternity as they listened to several shots go off inside the building and people screaming.
Finally, the other three teams radioed that they were in position, and Kent and Jenna stood there with bated breath while they waited for the captain to give the go-sign.
“Engage.”
The simple one-word command was all they needed. Using the butt of her rifle, Jenna broke the glass to the window. Kent reached through, unlocked it, and then pushed the rest of the broken frame up so that both he and Jenna could crawl through. Once inside, they hugged the walls, cautiously making their way down the hall, clearing rooms, one by one, as they found them. In the third room, they found three students hiding underneath a desk.
After quickly searching them for weapons and finding none, Jenna asked the girls, “Where’s the shooter?”
“We don’t know,” one of the girls sobbed. “We didn’t see anything; just heard the gunshots.”
Jenna directed the girls out of the room and quietly told them to run for the open window while she and Kent would stand by and cover their retreat.
“When you get outside, put your hands in the air and run as quickly as you can to the nearest police officer.”
Before the last girl walked past Kent to leave the room, she put her hand on his arm and whispered, “The shots sounded like they were coming from the main library room. Or, at least I think so.”
