Astoria: Secrets, Lies and Vampires Page 20

I couldn’t move, my body ached as I watched Gary circling Evan who lay helplessly on the ground. Showing his teeth, Gary went to attack Evan when out of nowhere a shape come flying from the trees knocking Gary over to the ground. As my eyes focus I could see it was Neville. As Neville and Gary fought, Evan still lay on the ground as Grace ran to her son’s side. Payton, Everett and Cameron was standing over top of Levi, I assumed to making sure when he woke he wouldn’t be a problem.

Grace got Evan to his feet as he stood and looked directly at me. I turned my head, not wanting him to see me this way. I wanted to run, but I couldn’t leave knowing that Evan or Levi was still in danger. As Neville and Gary fought, Cameron joined in to help Neville fought off Gary. Gary was the stronger of the two wolves. As Neville finally got his hands around Gary’s neck he started to squeeze. I yelled out “No!” but since I was in my wolf form only Levi and Gary could hear me. None of The Blake’s could hear my pleas. I watched as Gary finally became still and Neville lay him on the ground gently. I began to growl and make my approach towards Neville, as Neville stood up he softly said “Easy Emma.” as he held out his hands. “He is only sleeping.” Neville said as he walked towards me hands up as though he was surrendering. Evan walked forward, his eyes locked on mine. “Emma, it’s okay. You need to come with us.” He said as he motioned for me to follow them. “We have to go now. Please come with us.” Evan begged. I looked at The Blake’s as they stared at me. Then my eyes fell back to Levi and Gary. I felt for them. They both lay helplessly on the ground. But then I felt for The Blake’s who just saved Evan from being ripped apart by the two wolves. I was torn. I didn’t know what to do. The wolves were now my family, but so were The Blake’s.

As Levi began to stir Evan yelled again. “Emma, please. We have to go.” As he held his hand out to me, begging me to come with them, I stared at the man before me, holding his hand out and begging me to come with him. Then it hit me, The Blake’s were my enemy, my family’s enemy. And I understood now why Gran was so determined to keep me away from Evan and his family. I looked at Evan one last time. I turned and ran. As I ran deep into the forest I could hear Evan screaming my name. “Emma. Come back.” Just as he screamed out in his dream that night over a month ago, I kept running. I never looked back at the man who I loved, but was now my enemy. As I ran deeper into the forest I realized that Astoria was filled with Secrets, Lies and Vampires….and now Werewolves.

  To be continued…….
