Paisley Page 13

by Celia Kyle

A soft glow filled her, stretching from her soul and arching to encompass them all.

She belonged to them. She liked the sound of that.

Chance coughed, drawing her attention. “Uh, so Scarlet wanted me to ask a question…”

Paisley raised her eyebrows. “You want to talk about Scarlet? Now? You just had your cock inside me two seconds ago and you want to talk about—”

Chance pressed a single finger to her lips. “Just give me a second. It’s a family tradition and she wants to make sure you’re included.” He sounded so earnest, the wind went out of her angry sails and she nodded. “She wanted to know how mating sex was. She also said the only acceptable answer was ‘squishy.’”

  Paisley frowned. “Squishy?”

“Uh-huh.” Chance nodded and Hawkins lapped at the mating bite again, sending a shiver through her.

“Um, it could be… maybe we should try again just to make sure.” Hawkins bit her neck, careful not to cut her skin, and she moaned once more. “Yeah, we need to double check.”

They’d check over and over again… For the rest of their lives.

  Epilogue

Scarlet curled up on one of the plush chairs in the family room, cup of hot chocolate cradled between her hands as she waited for the rest of the family to join her. Well, parts of the family. Mates were strictly banned from the area while the Wickham and Twynham women decided how things would roll going forward. Randomly plucking human women from around the world was so not working.

It scared the hell out of the women and annoyed her on principle.

So, yeah, hard pass on magical kidnapping.

Low feminine murmurs reached her before the rest of the gang padded into the space. She didn’t know the Twynhams well despite their family connection, but that didn’t squash her growing love for them. She had sisters and now new cousins and they all joined her in the Land of Fur.

Most of them smiled and others waved. They each snared their own snacks and drinks from the setup in the back before heading toward her.

Being the Ruling Alpha Mate had its perks. On-demand food and on-demand sex. She called her mating to Keller and Madden a win.

The gals intermingled, taking up spots next to each other. Lorelei and Paisley stuck close to Whitney and Scarlet understood why. Those chicks went through magical hell and it was Whitney who helped bring them out.

Now they had to figure out how to keep any other women from experiencing the same.

“Okay,” she yelled over the babble. “I call this meeting to order.”

That got everyone’s attention and of course, Gabby snorted. “You went and read those books on conducting negotiations and interactions with other Alphas, didn’t you?”

  “Bite me,” she snapped back.

“At least she read this time.” Whitney piped up. “Remember when she ran into Keller and Madden and those asshole Alphas at our first Gathering? And she thought—”

“I think you should stop remembering before I have one of our new night light looking cousins make you forget.” Scarlet narrowed her eyes.

  “As if.” Whitney rolled hers.

Scarlet took a deep breath. “I am not going to argue with you before we figure this shit out. Then it’s on like Donkey Kong and you better watch out. I just started those TurboFire workouts and it’s seriously harder than Turbo Jam.”

Whitney gave her a look that said “really?” “Uh-huh. Did you do the videos or just watch them?”

  “That’s not important.”

Whitney turned her attention to their cousins. “She just watched them, we’re still more badass than she is.”

“I will so cut you! Just because you’re my sister, don’t think I won’t.” Okay, Scarlet wouldn’t cut her sister because she wasn’t a huge fan of blood, but she could. Whitney opened her mouth for another retort, but Scarlet cut her off. “An-ee-way, we have things to talk about. We’ll rock out with our non-existent cocks when we’re done.”

That got her five looks that ranged from I left my mate’s bed for this to holy shit I should run for my life.

  Whatever.

“What you three went through,” Scarlet wiggled her finger to encompass Rebecca, Lorelei, and Paisley, “can’t happen again.”

All five women agreed with her, their confirmations ranging from “fuck, yeah” to a simple nod.

Scarlet sighed. “Good, glad we’re all on the same page. Now, we need to figure out how to fix things.”

Whitney raised her hand. “Shouldn’t your mates be dealing with this? Or at least the three of you? Maybe your mates and mine since they’re the ones who cast the spell…”

God love Whitney because Scarlet didn’t at the moment. “While I would love to trust my mates to deal with this, let’s be realistic. They want their men to have mates.” Everyone nodded. “I want women to quit losing their minds because all of wolf-dom can’t understand that being sucked through a black vortex is not a fun experience.”

Another round of nods along with a “fuck, yeah” from Lorelei.

Scarlet was actually kinda sad Lorelei hadn’t gotten a chance to use her neon pink gun on anyone during the Gathering. Those assholes from the five families sure could have used a bullet or two.

“Right.” Scarlet leaned forward and placed her now empty mug on the coffee table. “So, what I think is…”

It didn’t take long to outline her ideas. It took even less time for the opinions to come rolling forward.

  “They’ll never agree…”

  “But the men will…”

  “Who’s gonna…”

  “Seriously, Scarlet? They’ll…”

Scarlet listened to each objection, hearing the fear and worry in her family’s voices. But Scarlet was well and truly fed up with the way werewolves had done things for centuries.

Had the Gathering worked for hundreds of years?

  Yes.

  Was it going to continue?

  No.

Thirty and single? Don’t get freaked out when two werewolves show up at your door…
