The place was nice and quiet. The sun was just coming up. She and Amber had been getting up earlier for several days. They loved their morning talks. “Won’t the boys be shocked come New Year’s day when the guys take them out on a secret dragon hunting expedition?”

“Yes, they will.” Amber poured them two cups of coffee. She glanced out the window. “Who are your bodyguards this morning?”

“Shane and Corey, of course. It is strange to have a twenty-four seven detail around me at all times.”

Her sister went back to the stove to tend the bacon and eggs she was preparing for them. “Well, it just has to be, Belle.” Worry clouded Amber’s face.

“Why don’t I help you with breakfast, Sis?”

“I’ve got it, and stop trying to change the subject. Lunceford is ruthless. Until he’s put away, you’re going to have to get used to it.”

“According to that creepy doctor Shannon’s Elite captured in Wyoming, Kip’s disease is progressing. I might not have to wait long before he succumbs to his illness.”

“We can only hope. The sooner that bastard is in the ground, the better.”

“God, I never thought I’d feel that way about anyone, but I do.”

Amber turned to her. “Shane and Corey and the rest of the town are going to make sure you stay safe.”

  She nodded. “I know.”

“I’m glad that you and your guys decided to build a house here at the ranch. I like having you close.”

“We had to. Moving Juan and Jake to town, even though it wasn’t that far away, was out of the question. Besides, I think Shane and Corey like getting to help your guys teach all the boys about what it means to be a cowboy.”

“I think you’re right about that, Sis.” Amber smiled. “It’s good to see you so happy.”

“I am happy. My life is so complete since the adoption has been finalized.”

“That’s obvious to me by the constant smile on your face, and I might add Shane and Corey’s faces, too.” Amber smiled and then her face turned white. “Oh no.”

Belle leapt to her feet. “What’s wrong?”

Her sister stepped back from the pan of bacon. “Just a little morning sickness. Smells activate it sometimes.”

“Go sit down. I’ll finish this.” Belle took the spatula from Amber. “I knew I should’ve helped you. You’re the pregnant one.”

  “Thanks.”

Belle leaned over the stove and got a whiff of the bacon. Her stomach turned and she felt acid rise up in her throat. “Oh no. I must be having sympathy nausea. Where are the crackers?”

“That cabinet.” Amber pointed to the one to the right of the stove. “The water is hot in the tea kettle. We can have tea and crackers for breakfast.”

Belle nodded, holding her nose. She turned off the burner and grabbed a package of crackers. “This is crazy. My mind might be past the kidnapping but my stomach certainly isn’t.”

  “Has this happened before, Belle?”

She nodded. “Once right after they rescued me and a few times after that.”

  Amber started laughing.

“Why are you laughing at me being sick, Sis?” She bit into a cracker, hoping it would settle her upset stomach.

  “Because I think you’re pregnant.”

“Amber, don’t get my hopes up for that. I’m happy. I have Juan and Jake. The guys want to adopt more children. It’s enough.”

“It may be enough, but it’s my duty as your little sister to help you find out.” Amber stood. “And we’re going to do that right now.”

  “Right now?”

“Yes. I have a pregnancy test I didn’t use. Actually, I have two left. I had three. When I missed my period, all three of them brought one home for me.” She laughed. “I love those three nuts.”

Belle tried to quell the excitement that Amber was stoking. “I can’t be, Sis. You know that.”

The little firecracker put her hands on her hips. “I’m going to give you two choices. One, I take you in my bathroom and you pee on a stick. Two, I call Doc and get him to schedule you an upper and lower GI test. Which will it be?”

“I guess you’ve got me. Let’s get this over with.” Following Amber to the bathroom, Belle counted the days since her last period. She was a week late, but kept that to herself, not wanting to fuel Amber’s excitement. It can’t be. She reminded herself that her cycle had never been regular like her sister’s, just another thing her disease had caused.

Amber opened up the cabinet and brought out the two pregnancy tests. She opened one and handed her the stick. “Pee on this.”

Belle squatted over the toilet and urinated on the stick. Her heart thudded in her chest as she fixed her stare to the result area. Amber peered over her shoulder. They remained frozen in position for what seemed like an eternity.

“Oh my God, Belle. It’s positive.”

“This can’t be right. This must be faulty. Give me another one.”

“You’re kidding, right? You’re a nurse. You know how rare it is for these tests to be positive unless they are positive. You have a better chance of being struck by lightning on a clear day.”

She shook her head. “Hand it over.” After drowning the remaining pregnancy test with her pee, Belle realized the impossible had happened. “I’m pregnant, Amber.”

Her sister hugged her. “That’s what I’ve been trying to tell you, Sis.” She winked. “I guess I am the smart one.”

“Oh my God, I can’t believe it. Should I go lie down?”

Amber laughed. “You’re the one who worked in a maternity ward. You tell me?”

Her eyes welled up. “I’m just so happy. I love being sick.”

Tears rolled down Amber’s face. “Me, too.”

My dream has finally come true. “Dream? Pinch me, Sis. Tell me this isn’t a dream.”

“It’s real, Belle.” Amber grabbed a little of her arm’s flesh.

“Ouch. It is real.” She kissed her sister on the cheek. “We’re going to have babies together.”

“Stay here, Belle. I’ll be right back.” Amber ran out of the bathroom.

  “Are you still sick?”

No answer. Was she going to get them crackers? Belle’s stomach was settling down.

She couldn’t stop looking at the tiny stick in her hand.

She heard footsteps headed her way.

Shane and Corey appeared at the door.

“Baby, are you okay?” Shane reached over and wiped a tear from her cheek. “Amber said to come right away.”

Corey grabbed her hand. “What’s wrong, sweetheart?”

“It’s just…just so…I am…” She couldn’t get the words out, so she held up the stick. “I peed on this. Look.”

Realization came over both her guys’ faces.

  Shane spoke first. “You mean?”

  Corey smiled. “Really?”

  She nodded.

They both picked her up, showering her in kisses. They spun her around in circles in the tiny bathroom.

  Suddenly, they stopped.

Shane’s eyes widened. “Oh my God, should you lie down, Belle?”

“How about a cold cloth?” Corey touched her cheek.

Amber appeared at the doorway with her three husbands. “We’ve been through that already, fellas. She’ll be fine. She’s just pregnant.”

“Just?” Shane laughed. “This is the happiest day in my life.”

  “Mine, too,” Corey chimed in.

The three Stone brothers stepped forward, congratulating them.

“Okay, men.” Amber smiled. “This isn’t that big of a bathroom. Let’s let the mother-to-be have a moment with her guys. Besides, I need you to finish cooking breakfast.”

“Are you okay, baby?” Emmett asked, putting his arm around Amber’s shoulder.

“I just didn’t know bacon could smell like that, honey.” Amber turned to her. “Trust me, Sis. Doms are always overprotective, but when you’re pregnant, doubly so. That’s something you’ll have to
get used to besides the queasiness.”

  “I love you, Sis.”

“I love you, too.” Amber nodded and her men left.

Corey pressed his mouth tenderly to hers. “Are you queasy now?”

  “No.”

Shane kissed her so gently. “Can I get you a glass of water?”

She laughed. “And so it starts. No. I’m fine. Better than fine. I’m so happy. Thank you.”

Her dreams of having a baby had come true. She was already a mother with two sweet boys, who she loved so very much and who also had two amazing dads in Corey and Shane. Her life was better than she’d ever imagined, and it was all because of her wonderful men.

“I love you both so very much.”

Corey squeezed her hand. “I love you, sweetheart.”

“And I love you, too, baby.” Shane turned to Corey. “Let’s carry our girl to the kitchen.”

Corey nodded and lifted her up in his arms.

“I’m pregnant, guys.” She smiled. “My legs still work just fine.”

  ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Born in Missouri, I am happy to call Dallas, Texas, home, now. Who doesn’t love sunshine?

I began devouring romance novels during summers between college semesters as a respite to the rigors of my studies. Soon, my lifelong addiction was born, and to this day, I typically read three or four books every week.

For years, I tried my hand at writing romance stories, but shared them with no one. Understand, I’m really shy. After many months of prodding by friends, author Sophie Oak, I finally relented and let them read one. As the prodding turned to gentle shoves, I ultimately did submit something to Siren-BookStrand. The thrill of a life happened for me when I got the word that my book would be published.

I do want to warn the reader that my books are not for the faint of heart, and are strictly for adults. That said, I love erotic romances. Blending the sexual chemistry with the emotional energy between the characters in my books is why I love being a writer.
