  John Simpson is the former chief editor of the Oxford English Dictionary, where he helped move the dictionary online in the 1980s and led the editorial work on its Third Edition (2000–). He is an Emeritus Fellow of Kellogg College, Oxford, and writes and researches widely on language, literature, and history. John lives in Gloucestershire, United Kingdom.
