Cain handed the original recurves to the special group and a single arrow too. Twenty arrows flew like ravens of death through the noonday sky toward the sun, then dove toward the ground hidden in the sun's glare. Twenty shafts of death fell amongst the command group for a second time, sending more players for an early respawn.
Eight players and six horses died, leaving another player trapped under his dead horse. The much reduced command group of seven players turned their horses to leave the field; it was then they noticed the herd of Urus stampeding toward their position. Cain messaged,
Cain with the special group of Amazons rode to the right heading for the forest at a gallop, and they were soon under the fringe of the forest galloping past the Urus' stampede; which were being urged onward by Lesley's company of Amazons. Cain was aiming to turn and circle the Urus herd to run down the command group of players, especially Sir Hardy.
As the command group stalled not knowing which way to turn their horses, several hundred mercenaries threw down their shields and spears and ran away from the Amazons and past the stationary command group, trying to get beyond the edge of the stampede of Urus.
As Cain led the small group of Amazons around the rear of the Urus' herd, he waved to Lesley and shouted, "Cease the goading, let them run free." As Cain's group crossed the trampled grasslands, he noticed the command group of Sir Hardy was now only three strong, only one player was mounted, pinned to his saddle by an arrow through his thigh. He inspected the two standing, Cain noticed one of the two looked to have a broken arm and was being helped to walk.
Making a large loop, Cain led his group toward the remaining players from the direction of Thessele. The player, sat on the mount was a level forty-six magician, called Simon Bruixot. Simon looked up at Cain and raised a hand as eight arrows sent him to a respawn point.
Cain dismounted, standing in front of Sir Hardy whose left arm was in a sling, and a level forty-eight rogue, called Furtui Deshonor.
"Hey, man. You must be Joseph? Please leave me out of this. Why did you kill Simon? He and me are, we're observers from Thessele. Sir Hardy brought his mercenaries and camped outside of Thessele, over one week ago. He told a tale of an NPC daemon lord disguised as a man; he called you a daemon by the way.
"The daemon led an army of She-Devil succubae, who would enslave the beautiful port city of Thessele; turning our portal into a portal point, leading only to hell. The city elders sent Simon and me, as we've been here since the start, to be observers and report back to them. I can see you are a player not an NPC daemon as Sir Hardy said. While your beautiful women are none other than the fabled Amazons, not a daemon lord's succubae," said Furtui Deshonor. Lesley messaged Cain saying,
"Any words before you go respawn Sir Hardy?" asked Cain. Sir Hardy shook his head as he stood there a scowl on his face, his colourless lips pressed into a pinched line. Cain nodded and two arrows appeared in Sir Hardy's forehead, instantly killing him. As he fell to the floor a pop-up flashed on Cain's HUD, the message informing him of the death count and points. Taking a quick look it seemed Sir Hardy brought more than the five thousand and they credited those killed by the Urus to Cain and his group.
Furtui Deshonor invited Cain and his Amazons to the port city of Thessele. He told Cain, "You must come and see Athena's temple. I understand your Amazons would love to see how beautiful it is and I’m sure Athena would welcome them all to worship there." Cain accepted the invitation and after messaging his women they had won against the army Sir Hardy had gathered.
Chapter 38
Athens Delivery
Myrina and Areto led the Amazons into Thessele, Cain rode with Lesley at the rear, in front of the covered wagons. The walls of Thessele were smaller in height, length and depth, than the walls Daphne made for the sacred grotto, which housed the potassium nitrate deposit and a travel-post.
Furtui Deshonor led the Amazons to the central square, they needed no instructions and lined up and filled the square with eleven lines of seventy mounted Amazons. Cain rode to the front with Lesley and joined Myrina and Areto.
Eight men walked down the side steps of a large ornate building opposite the square, Lesley whispered to Cain, "Don't you think this building looks like the front of the former capitol building in Washington, minus the doomed roof. Me thinks the building coder used it as a template."
The eight men welcomed Joseph, his leaders and the Amazons, one man said, "I had heard you have five wives Joseph, I can only see three. Have the others left you?" Cain said to the man. "No your knowledge is wrong, I have six wives," turning to look at Violetta he added, "I also have three, soon to be four concubines who I treat as my wives." Cain’s honesty shocked one of the older men, who looked as old as Cain’s grandfather before he died. The man spluttered trying to get his words out eventually he shouted out in anger.
"It is immoral young man, to have more than three wives," he looked at his own younger wives. "I myself keep to the proscribed rules and keep only three," he pointed toward the first row of younger looking women, sat with others, on the front row of chairs under an awning.
The large awning cast a shade over the seated citizens, "Those are most likely the other leaders wives, mistresses and offspring," whispered Myrina. Lesley laughed, then Myrina, Areto followed suit as all the Amazons joined in, the man wanted to know what they were laughing at. Lesley told him in no uncertain words,
"Should Joseph have the fortune of marrying women like yours, they would be like us," she said pointing to all the Amazons. "They would be warriors, not ladies who spend their time buttering up their husband while getting serviced by a younger stud.
"Joseph would not put up with such slovenliness, they are what thirty, forty and they don’t look like they have worked for or laid under you, ever. At least not enough where all they want is your prick inside them. You sir are a disgrace in being a harem master, lord or not. I would wager you cannot satisfy all three at the same time, can you? Joseph satisfies all nine of us, nearly every night, and multiple times not once."
A gasp ran through the eight lords and their seated wives and important members of the city. Lesley could see many of the women were all looking at Joseph, she could tell they were imagining being with him and his wives. Laughing to herself, Lesley knew they stood no chance.
The Amazons shouted, "Here, here." Causing the old man to splutter as he turned as red as a beet, gasping for air his lips turned a bright blue, contrasting the redness of his face. He gasped for breath before he collapsed to the ground, holding his chest. Myrina quickly dismounted and rushed over to the man, placing her hand upon his chest the golden glow of Cybele surrounded her. The goddess helped Myrina heal the man's heart, while she increased his vigour.
Once the man started to breath and his colour returned, Myrina stood and helped the old man stand too. He asked Myrina was the golden glow from a god or goddess? To which Myrina told him, "Cybele guided my hand and healed you, she has also made you more virile like you were thirty again." The old man thanked Myrina, nodded to Cain and called his wives to him as he practically ran up the marble staircase, he shouted to the seven elders he would be
busy for the next half dozen months making up for lost time.
Cain could hear his shouting as he walked further up the staircase telling his personnel guard to go find the gardener and remove his penis, his right hand and put out his left eye.
{It looks like Cybele not only healed the fool but told him some home truths. I would wager he's not going to be getting out of his bed very often for the foreseeable future,} Enoch said. Cain agreed with him.

Furtui Deshonor interrupted the elders saying, "Do we not want to celebrate Joseph’s victory against impossible odds. Winning against mercenaries who could have pulled down to walls of our fair city."
"The celebration will be held for the whole city tomorrow," one elder proclaimed. He also added, "We have gifted you and your troops a repossessed and deserted estate, it has a large villa. Furtui can take you there as it is located outside the city walls, in its own compound."
With the initial speeches over, Furtui Deshonor had to first lead Cain, Myrina, Areto and Lesley to the religious quarter and Athena’s temple. Cain had to agree with Furtui, "The temple is beautiful much like the goddess Athena herself," Cain told Furtui. Who asked had he seen the goddess, to which Cain replied, "Several times, she is after all one of the godmothers to my children, along with Cybele," he added.
Cain found it hard not to smile, as he watched all the colour flee from Furtui Deshonor’s face, who promptly said, "Good evening," and rode away. Cain dismounted and along with Areto, Myrina and Lesley, "I bet he's forgotten he was to take us to the estate we have been given outside the city walls. Never mind, we can sort something out after we've been to see Athena," they went inside the temple. Waiting at the white line for a moment until a priestess greeted them, they walked toward the altar.
Kneeling before the altar Cain wanted to speak to Athena and Cybele, but Cybele spoke first, "Are you annoyed with us adding Violetta as an additional concubine. She looks at you and your wives and longs to be part of your harem. We thought it would be good you having one of our priestesses as a concubine. What do you think Cain?" said Cybele. Cain laughed then replied, "Toni noticed Violetta looking at each of us ans she said it probably would happen. Initially I was resistant, but I like how we work well together so I have been expecting the development. As Toni informed me before she left, it will be a good idea, especially to help you, Cybele."
Cain arranged for all the Amazons who wanted to, had the opportunity to visit the temple of Athena and said their prayers. While they were visiting the temple Cain visited the civic building and and he asked for and received a militia captain whom would lead them to their gifted estate outside the city walls.
It did not take the Amazons long to pray to Athena and the militia captain led them to the vast estate which covered two square miles, half a mile from the city walls. The captain told Cain as they walked up the main road to the walled enclosure where the main villa stood. Some Amazons dismounted and pushed open the main gate, it surprised Cain to see a large single level building in pristine condition.
The captain told him the villa used to belong to a relative of his, who lost the estate because they lost everything with a bad business venture at sea, during the storms of three years ago. He moved away leaving the estate behind and is now living in Serrena. Thanking the captain, Cain removed and erected Bounty before taking Violetta inside, while the Amazons tidied the villa and organised the duty rota. Myrina and Areto took Lesley, and they checked on the estate's buildings. Josephine circled the estate and scouted the area up to the city walls.
Two hours later, Lesley, Areto and Myrina returned to the villa and joined Cain and Violetta in Bounty's bed. Three hours later as they sat around the kitchen table Myrina told Cain the buildings on the estate were all in good condition, there were several buildings where group training and development of goods could take place.
Cain asked Violetta, "Do you think it is possible if we could use a building’s doorway as a travel-post? I think how easy it would be to move large numbers of people through a doorway than a single post." She promised to ask Cybele and enquire if such a thing was possible. As a group they decided to move into the villa and sleep there, giving the viewers a sight of them. Cain was concerned people may work out how they kept on disappearing from view.
While sharing their evening meal, Cain messaged Toni, Sophie, Daphne and Bethany. Daphne and Bethany told Cain, "We are finally in Serrena, after we arrived and contacted the high priestess at Athena’s temple. She told us there is no temple for worshipping Cybele, at the moment. We have placed the travel-post in a large cave inside the grounds of an estate we purchased. The buildings are in good condition and we didn't pay that much for it.
"We contacted Nithey and he is sending four of the VETS and one hundred of the former oar slaves, who are now trained as militia guards. We have sought builders from Athena's flock and they will build stone fortifications around the cave entrance, making it more secure. I am keeping my Geomancer skill hidden at the moment," ended Daphne.
Toni said, "We are around a day from Athens, our Triremes and galleys have crossed the sea and we are sailing past the island of Kea, Athens is around forty miles away. We will be there in the early morning as we are going to row further out from the coast to reduce the options of Jason trying a sneak attack. There are plenty of boats and ships sailing in all directions, we are safe amongst the numbers. But Sophie thinks taking a but of caution would not hurt us."
After their meal when Cain finished talking to those who were on other missions, they retired to the bedroom at seven. Cain fell asleep around midnight as Myrina and Areto were more demanding than normal and Lesley was tied up with Violetta.
Violetta found making love to Cain fulfilling. Making love while the other wives were watching and encouraging her on, different and strange. Though as Cain made love to Areto, Lesley and Myrina were the same then. Violetta joined in accepting the experience and found it strangely rewarding, seeing a sister wife experiencing those same moments she had with Cain.

Taking a quick shower, he dressed then laid out the breakfasts, Cain planned for the day. Violetta walked into the room and sat opposite Cain, she told him Cybele spoke to her in a dream. "I will need four large flat stones one for each corner of the building. Once they have been blessed the whole building can be turned into the travel-post you want.
"Oh, they will need to be buried around one or two feet will suffice, as the barn is a single story building. If it was taller they would need to be deeper. The stones need to be placed at the corners or close enough in the corners of the barn. Once finished the building can then be blessed and it will be a travel-post."
Cain left Bounty while his wives and concubines were still eating. He found a pile of stones from a former small building, selec
ting four of roughly the same shape and size he laid them out for Violetta to bless. Taking a shovel, Cain began to dig the first hole, two-feet-deep in the corner of the storage barn he wanted to use as the travel-post.
His wives came out and joined him as he neared the bottom of his hole. Myrina and Areto picked up a spade and started to dig two more while Lesley helped Cain as he dug the forth. Violetta blessed each corner stone. All barring Violetta, they placed the blessed stones in their respective holes, covering them as the holes were filled.
Once in their holes, Violetta walked around the storage barn with her left hand on the wall, walking anti-clockwise. Then she did the same on the inside using her right hand on the wall, again walking anti-clockwise. Once Violetta finished the storage barn was now a travel-post.
Cain asked Violetta, "Why did you walk anti-clockwise around the barn?" "What is a clock," Violetta answered. Stumped, Cain asked, "Why did you walk moving to the left around the barn?" Violetta said, "The magic of a portal turns opposite to the tuning of the world. Moving in the opposite direction allows the portal to open easier."
Cain placed his hand on the barn and opened the travel-post destination list. It listed each of the available destinations in alphabetical order. Removing his hand, Cain, Lesley and Areto mounted and took a company of Amazons and journeyed into Thessele, there they met up with Furtui Deshonor who took them into the city's administrative building.
Areto stayed outside with eighty of the Amazons while the twenty specially trained Amazons went with Lesley and Cain. They met with seven of the elders who said, "The celebration will begin at twilight and last until the first fingers of dawn lightens the night sky."
Furtui said to Cain, "The elders have a quest for you to take a small shipment of locally gathered rare spices and herbs, to the elders of Athens. They want the shipment to go overland as any salt water contamination would ruin the spices." Cain was suspicious but agreed to take the quest and deliver the spices and herbs for them.
