Oracle Saving (The Phoenix Files Book 3)

His heart hitched right before she took him in her mouth. That’s when the fun really began as she was sliding him in and out of the heat. The chill of the night air on his wet flesh was compounded by the warmth of her mouth.
It was erotic.
So was standing outside in some strange place, naked, and getting a blowjob from his wife.
Life did not get any better than this.
Here was his proof.
As he glanced down, she was watching him. She slowed down, and then teased the head of his dick with the tip of her tongue. She knew it drove him insane.
She loved making him nuts.
“Maura,” he warned.
She didn’t care.
All day, she’d been trapped in a tree, thinking about him. She wanted to make him beg.
She slowed down.
“You’re killing me.”
She sped up.
“Worse,” Luke muttered.
Then she added her hand.
He nearly came in her mouth. Luke had enough strength left to push his wife off his erection and submerge himself into the water to cool down the impending doom.
“Running?” she teased.
Oh, he was going to show her what was on his mind. Reaching under the water, he grabbed her by the ankle and yanked her under the water.
She came up sputtering. Before she knew what was happening, she was then trapped in his arms so he could have his way with her. Luke carried her toward the one large rock, and placed her on it.
Then…
He dove in.
Mouth met clit, and he worked her like this was the last orgasm she was ever going to have.
He wanted his wife breathless and over the edge. It didn’t take long, especially when he nipped her.
Maura fell—her legs shaking from the pleasure. “Again,” she begged. “God! I need more!”
He loved her breathy little whisper and how she was so greedy when it came to their sex life.
Luke didn’t stop.
He teased.
Tormented.
Pushed her up and over and once more.
This time, as his mouth was devouring her clit, his hands found her breasts.
“So good!” she shouted, as she tumbled over again. When she opened her eyes, Luke was standing there, his hand on his erection as he stroked it.
He was ready.
She wanted this.
“Take me.”
Oh, he was going to do just that.
Flipping his wife over, he didn’t warn her what was to come. He drove himself into her body, enjoying the slippery wet slide.
She was hot.
Welcoming.
Perfect.
He wanted to enjoy this. Grabbing her by the hips, he drove himself in and out of her, finding the perfect tempo.
“Harder, Lucas,” she begged.
Oh, he’d give her exactly what she wanted. When her breathing got heavier, he slapped his soldier babe on the ass, and it shoved her off the edge into one hell of an orgasm.
Luke pulled out, trying to keep from cumming. He wasn’t ready. He needed more.
He craved it all.
When he fell into the orgasm with his wife, he wanted to be exhausted. He wanted to know that he was spent from their lovemaking. With Maura, he wanted to know he’d given it his all.
As she surfaced from her orgasm, she couldn’t believe he’d smacked her on the ass.
Don’t get her wrong, she loved it.
It was just unlike him.
Turning, she sat on the rock and pulled him into her body. Immediately, he slid home.
“God, that never gets boring. You never get boring, Maura. I’ll love doing this until the day we die.”
She was glad.
So would she.
As he began thrusting in and out of her body, she ran her nails down his wet arms. She was close again.
Luke could feel it. Her body was tightening down on his, and he could feel his own ready to betray him.
His dick was rock hard.
His balls were aching to explode.
He needed this release more than he needed his next breath, and he couldn’t wait.
“Christ, cum in me! I can’t hold on much longer,” she begged.
The way her voice sounded in the silence of the night, and the way it echoed for anyone to hear them did him in. He knew he was done. With one slam home, he took them both off the edge, tumbling into pleasure.
As one.
Together.
As they fought to catch their breaths, neither spoke. It was like running a marathon right into a brick wall.
They were both spent.
“I love you,” Luke finally whispered. “You’re so hot that I think you melted my brain.”
She laughed. “Yeah, well, so are you, Mr. FBI. I like when you put your hands on me. That ass slap…”
“Too much?” he asked.
“Not enough. You’ll have to do it again and again until I get sick of it.”
He lifted his head. “Don’t tease. I have handcuffs somewhere, and I know how to use them.”
Oh, she was aware.
Suddenly, her face lost the humor.
“What?” he asked. “Are you cold?”
She’d also have time to think about their personal lives when she was alone in the tree.
“Are you satisfied with our life?”
Luke stared at her. “Uh, did you just not see me actively participating in this debauchery? Did I look like an unsatisfied letch?”
“Not this, Luke.”
“Then what, Maura?”
She slid down the rock and into the water to sit there in the moonlight. She’d been thinking a lot about their choices.
“Avalon was pregnant, and now Jagger is having a baby.”
Oh, he knew where this was heading.
Luke was a smart man.
He knew the second he’d heard about Roxy expecting that this conversation was bound to come up. Granted, he didn’t think it would be now and right after sex in a stream.
He sat beside her in the water.
“What are you trying to say, Maura?”
She tried to come up with the right words to convey what she meant. Maura was good with being brash. When it came to being gentle…she lacked a lot in that department.
“Do you want kids?”
They’d discussed this.
At one time, Maura never believed they should get married. In fact, she fought like hell to avoid it at all costs.
He’d clearly won.
“You didn’t want kids, right?”
“Do you?”
It was a tough question for Luke. He saw Callie with Suzie and Honor, and he was envious, but only until one of his godchildren spilled something, or Callie couldn’t even shower without someone in there.
Even Quinn looked exhausted.
The cop was beat down.
Did he want that?
It was time to be honest.
“Not really, Maura. I like our life. We get to come and go when we like. Each Christmas, we can disappear to an island for us time, and we don’t have to worry about not coming home at night.”
“Does that make us bad people?” she asked. “Does it make me a bad person for not being maternal?”
He didn’t think so.
“Do you want kids?” he asked.
“I don’t know. I don’t think so, but I need a favor.”
Luke would do anything for her. Brushing her wet black hair out of her eyes, he was prepared to do anything to make his wife happy. She’d given him so much when they’d gotten married.
She’d given him hope.
“What?”
“If you ever change your mind, will you please let me know? I want you to be happy. If you want kids, I’ll do it. I’d love to have a little Lucas running around.”
He kissed her on the tip of the nose.
“Okay, baby. I’ll tell you.”
Now she could stop str
essing it.
She could have peace. If there was one thing about their relationship—they didn’t hold back.
“Thank you, Lucas.”
“We should get dressed and get out of here.”
She agreed. As they were headed toward shore, she had bad news for him.
“Uh, Luke?”
“Yeah, Maura?”
“How do you feel about creepy crawly things?” she asked, knowing he was going to flip his shit. She didn’t have a problem with nature. She had spent hours in it.
He glanced back at her. “I don’t know. I guess it depends on what kind. Why?”
She pointed down at his dick. “You have a leach on your penis.”
Those words were something no man ever wanted to hear uttered in their lives. They painted a horrible picture in one’s mind of some bloodsucker attached to the favorite part of their anatomy.
Babe on their penis.
Yes.
Spit on their penis.
Hell, yes!
A hand on their penis.
Absolutely.
A leach?
HELL NO!
Luke glanced down at it, and that’s when he saw it. “Get it off me!”
“Are you going to freak out?” she asked, trying not to laugh as he danced around in the water like some freaked out girl.
It was priceless.
“GET IT OFF ME!”
She’d pulled many leaches off her body in her career, so the one on her hip wasn’t even bothering her.
“Calm down before you freak out!” she said, laughing her ass off over it.
“Going to freak out? I’m already there.”
And then Lucas Mars screamed like a little boy.
Maura…she just laughed and laughed and laughed.
Yeah, she had the perfect marriage, and she wouldn’t change a damn thing.
Chapter Eleven
Avalon enjoyed being around Bishop Monroe. She’d been in Lucian’s head, and she saw her for the woman she really was. Bishop was a good person. Her aura was crystal clear, pure, and proved that the two were made for each other. Like with her and Nathaniel, the same was true when Bishop and Lucian’s auras would morph. It was her big clue.
They were soul mates, and it made Avalon proud that she’d had something to do with bringing them back together. It was something she’d always wanted to do with her gift.
She was giving back.
“You’re being quiet,” Bishop said. “What are you thinking about?”
“Are you and Lucian happy?” she asked.
“Absolutely.”
“I’m happy for you. I hope when I get married, it’s the same way.”
Bishop didn’t like women around her husband—not only because he looked like a sexy pirate, but also because people could be cruel. Lucian’s face was his weakness. He worried about the scar and loss of his one eye, but Bishop didn’t.
She loved him for the man he was inside.
With Avalon, she’d initially worried. When she’d first seen her descending the man’s staircase, she’d wanted to hurt her. Now…she saw that Lucian needed Avalon to balance himself out. With her around, his gift wasn’t as painful.
He had the terrible visions under control.
Avalon had been working with him to stop the pain and taming his gift. She was the one woman she trusted with Lucian.
“You will.”
“Can I ask you a favor?” Avalon asked.
“Sure. What’s up?” Bishop knew that the woman was special. The whole team doted on her. Sometimes, a little too much all because she was blind.
“Can you make me pretty?”
“What? You’re very pretty, Avalon. How can I make you pretty?”
“Do you wear makeup? Maura doesn’t, so she can never help me. Tonight, my one night of freedom, I want to feel like every other woman. I’m tired of being me. It’s exhausting.”
That broke her heart.
Bishop took for granted that she could walk around and see the world. Avalon had a different vantage point. She was always trying to save someone.
“You want to wear makeup?” she asked.
“Yes, please. I don’t have anyone to ask. I just want Nathaniel to look at me and think I’m special.”
“Oh, Avalon, you can’t see the way he looks at you, but the rest of us absolutely can. He’s already there, but I get it. I can help you.”
“What does this dress look like?” she asked.
“It’s blue.”
“Describe it. I’ve seen colors, so tell me what it looks like. I can tap into that. I’ve been in Nate, Maura, Jagger, and Luke’s minds. I can use their memories as reference.”
“The sky right before sunset. It’s dark blue, but it’s not quite dark enough to be mistaken for black. It wraps around your body, and shows off your figure.”
“Do I look okay?”
“You’re really worried, aren’t you?”
“I don’t want to lose him.”
There.
It was said.
Despite knowing he was her soulmate, she wasn’t sure what she brought to the table. She was young and she couldn’t be like every other woman.
She was an anchor.
And not in a good way.
“You won’t. Can’t you look into your own future and see it?” she asked.
“It’s not that easy. The more my gift grows, the harder it is to read the people closest to me. I’m losing that as I gain something else.”
“Well, he’ll never stray—especially after we get you all made up.”
“Thank you, Bishop. I don’t have many friends. Thank you for being kind and letting me share in your husband’s life.”
She smiled. “He needs you in it. I want him, and you, to be happy. It’s my pleasure.”
They sat in silence as Bishop put some makeup on her. “I’m warning you. I’m a tomboy. I can’t do fancy. I can just clean myself up a little bit.”
“I trust you.”
“I know you do. What color lips do you want? I have red, pink, or like a dusty rose color.”
“Red.”
“Can you fix my hair?” she asked. “Is it all messy?”
“No, it’s perfect. It’s pretty.”
“I wish it was blonde.”
“Why?” Bishop asked, putting some mascara on Avalon’s lashes.
“When Nate met me, I had all this hair. Maura made me dye it to hide me. I wish it was blonde again because that’s who I am. Sometimes, it’s horrible to have to pretend to be someone you’re not.”
She understood that.
Bishop was playing wife and missing her career.
“Is it?”
Avalon stopped moving. Her eyes got blank. “Bishop, you do understand. You want to be a cop. You think that maybe you should have fought Silas for your career. You feel lost.”
“That’s irritating.”
She was aware. So many people said that to her when she read them.
“What happened had to occur so you could finally get the reward.”
That piqued her interest. “What kind? Are we talking sexy man reward? I already won that one.”
“Tonight, you’ll be offered a chance. Take it. It’s the path you’re meant to take. If you don’t, you’ll struggle and lose yourself even more. In the process, you’ll be unhappy.”
“Care to elaborate?”
She smiled.
The trance-like state was broken.
“You’ll see.”
“Stop moving your mouth.”
Avalon did what she said. Only, her laughter still came out, but this time in Bishop’s head.
“Avalon.”
‘Sorry,’ she whispered into Bishop’s mind. She could make that connection because Bishop, too, had a gift. She was gifted with extra instincts.
It wasn’t just being lucky.
It was more than that.
“All done.”
“Can we go out and see them? I love how Na
te looks when he’s relaxed. He’s handsome.”
“He is, and he’s all yours, Avalon.”
“Avi. Please. The people I love call me that.”
Bishop held out her hand. “I’ll help you.”
“You will, Bishop. For what’s coming, you absolutely will,” she stated.
Bishop had no clue what that meant.
Then again, Oracle had spoken. She would have to wait and see what was coming.
She was curious—like a damn cat.

He was ready.
The night was just beginning, and the next woman was already in his sights. He’d watched her before, and he knew she was going to be one of his five for the longest time.
How?
He didn’t like her.
That was simply how he picked them.
There was no magic formula, or secret pattern. He simply didn’t like the victims. So, he erased them. In the process, he got to feed off their fear, and that made him happy.
He loved being happy.
Life had been hard.
Happy wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. Living there was a challenge, and he needed to keep himself busy. Life had been a disappointment.
Now death?
Yeah, that was fun.
As he watched each one succumb to the nightmares, it was filling him with happiness.
He loved killing.
It was as simple as that.
Now that he’d picked her, it was time to have fun.
“I’m coming for you. Tonight, your fears are going to be my pleasure.”
It was true.
Her nightmare had just begun.

When he saw her, he couldn’t breathe.
She was beautiful.
Avalon was wearing a dress, heels, and had put on makeup for him.
Jesus!
He was a lucky man.
Nate couldn’t believe he’d been given this kind of gift. Avalon in his life was a huge blessing, and he hoped she always stayed part of his.
“Baby,” he whispered.
Lucian grinned. He recalled that look. He knew he got it on his face when Bishop was around. It was between glee and shock that he’d been given a shot with the woman who owned his heart.
“Do I look okay, Nathaniel?” she asked.
