by K. L. Shandwick

“Well…I thought if you wrote a book about a girl who became a smoking hot rock chick, I figured there wasn’t anyone more smoking hot than my girl… I mean my wife.” Winking cheekily at her I could see that she wasn’t totally unhappy, but I needed a little more from her to be reassured I’d done the right thing?

“You read it?” Chloe blushed and her face looked horrified thinking I knew the content of the book.

“Is it pornographic?” I asked with a smirk on my face and then wishing I had after seeing her blush, but I wouldn’t have disrespected her like that. If she wanted me to read it, she would have shared it with me.

Chloe’s jaw dropped her eyes popping widely at me. “No!”

Snickering I sniffed in pretense, “Then I’ve definitely not read it, darlin’—unless there are plenty of tits and ass…it doesn’t hold my attention. I have a deficit remember?”

Chloe knew I was joking but she played along. “Really? I’ve married a guy who only wants to read porn?” Sliding out from her chair, she surprised me by moving swiftly beside and straddling me, raking her fingers through my hair.

Glancing up at her I caught the sexy way she was looking at me and fought the urge to lift her up and take her to bed. “Oh no I’m definitely not that shallow. I want to watch it as well. Live shows–DVDs–private performances—you name it. I’m practically an expert. If you ever want some research for your…romance books, I figure I could devote some time to that.” Standing up, I chuckled and cradled her ass in my hands, then turned and began walking her backwards over to our bed. The food would have to wait.

“In fact, Mrs. Barclay, now that your debut novel is out of the way, I think we should get started on the research for your next one right away.” Chloe wasn’t protesting and I could feel her body hum against mine with a need that resembled my own.

Sliding her down my hard body to her feet at the side of the bed, I slipped the straps of Chloe’s dress over her slender shoulders and watched in awe as the gorgeous dress cascaded down her body, unveiling her as it floated down and crumpled at her feet.

Chloe had been looking down, unaware of the sexy, sinfully innocent picture she made right there in front of me, then she suddenly lifted her gaze and stared straight into my eyes. My hands had been skating up her sides but when she locked eyes with mine, she stopped me dead in my tracks and my heart squeezed with the love I felt for her.

Since meeting Chloe, she’d turned my life upside down in the best way possible because she pulled me out straight at the same time. I’d never wanted anything more than I wanted to be everything for her—to her, and I knew that only time would tell whether I’d achieve that. When everyone else expected the worst from me, Chloe only saw the best. So before I took my new bride to bed, I prayed that the challenges of my work would never come between us in the future.

  ABOUT K.L. SHANDWICK

  K. L. Shandwick lives on the outskirts of London. She started writing after a challenge by a friend when she commented on a book she read. The result of this was "The Everything Trilogy." Her background has been mainly in the health and social care sector in the U.K. She is still currently a freelance or self- employed professional in this field. Her books tend to focus on the relationships of the main characters. Writing is a form of escapism for her and she is just as excited to find out where her characters take her as she is when she reads another author's work.
