  My Drunk A**

  Hey,

I’m STILL hungover. Please thank Michael for taking care of my drunk a** last night (and for not taking advantage of me). I haven’t been that drunk ever. I don’t know what came over me. It’s not like me to lose control. And, I’m really sorry for puking in PJ’s car.

  —Your (Sober Now) Izzy

P.S. I almost e-mailed Marty last night at around 1 am drunk out of my mind. Thank God I didn’t send the e-mail. Found it in my Draft Folder today. That would’ve been just plain BADBADBADBADBADBAD.

Here’s to stalking. You’re not doing a very good job at it.

Headed off to the gym, thought of you. Just wanted to say hi.

What really stinks about this whole situation is that I have to wait until you’ve figured out if I’m really The One for you to watch Lost in Translation with. Thanks for nothing.

  Talk soon,

Hope you had a good workout. I plan to exercise at some point this week (not).

Lost in Translation, huh? That is one of my favorites (as you know) … sigh …

I guess I’ll leave you with my other favorite quote from that movie: “Let’s never come here again because it will never be as much fun.”

  Tap? ;-)

  Sparkle

  Hey Sweetie,

I’ve been trying to call your cell, but it’s always turned off. Is that on purpose? I have never known you to turn your cell phone off—ever. And, I’ve known you for thirty years now so I know you very, very well.

Listen, I’m putting this in writing so that you can absorb it, reread it if necessary. And, I’ll preface this by saying: “This is a father–daughter talk.” Your mom doesn’t know about this e-mail, although I will say she’s confused as to why you told her not to put down the wedding deposit a couple weeks ago, as am I. So, here it is: Mom and I really like Peter, as a person. We really do. However, one thing seems clear, and that’s this:

  He dims your sparkle.

You and I are made of the same grain, and we’ve got one thing that most people don’t have: sparkle. It’s 50% of us. So, if someone takes away our sparkle—there’s only 50% left of us, and that’s not much. If Peter takes away your sparkle, as I’m afraid he may be doing, then you’re not my Izabell anymore. You’re someone else.

/>   And that’s all your ol’ Dad is going to say about it!

  Love, Dad

P.S. You could call us every now and then, you know …

We need to discuss the family plans for Thanksgiving. Your father and I were thinking this might be the perfect time to introduce the two families! You are so hard to get in touch with these days. You must be very busy at work! Call us tonight, please. Oh, and tell Izabell we say hello! How is she?

  Extra Bedroom

  E—

If need be, can I stay in your spare bedroom? The living situation may get ugly. I’m really hoping that it doesn’t, but I don’t know. Honestly, Peter is always working so our paths rarely cross (big surprise, huh?). Plus, we’ve already partitioned the apartment into “my side” and “his side.” I get home at 6, go to the gym, cook dinner, and am in bed by 10:30. He gets home at 11, eats Wendy’s, drinks two glasses of Scotch (if not more), chain smokes (yes, he’s taken up smoking again, another big surprise), and goes to bed at 1. I get up at 7 and am out the door by 8:30; him, up at 9, and at the office by 9:30. Like I said, our paths don’t cross. I’m a little worried about the weekends, though. My new apartment won’t be ready until Dec. 19th so I’ll keep you posted. If it gets unbearable, I may need to stay at your pad.

  Love,

  Izzy

P.S. This is slightly ironic, but I’m moving back into my original one-bedroom apartment here. It was the only one available. Sigh … this is just really sad.

P.P.S. Know anyone who is in need of a $3,000 (nonrefundable) wedding dress? Yeah, he’s got the ring, I’ve got the dress.
