Don't Go There (Awkward Love Book 5) Page 11

by Missy Johnson

She throws her head back and cries out, her bottom lip catching in her teeth. I growl and move harder, fucking her faster when I sense she’s close. My cock throbs as I slide into her wetness, her slick pussy contracting around me, pushing me to the edge until I’m falling off. I fly over that cliff, not even caring what’s below, because the high I’m feeling right now is worth anything.

I wait until she’s right there with me, then I come so hard my cock throbs. She gasps as her body spasms and clutches onto my arm so hard her nails dig into my skin and draw blood. Her thighs clench around mine as she climaxes, while I’m still inside her.

Panting, I reach up and caress her face, then guide her mouth down onto mine. My lips crush against hers, the kiss lingering, because neither of us want to pull away.

I smile, then run my fingers through her long dark waves as they fall around us. She laughs, then climbs off me. I kiss her forehead and gaze down at her while she snuggles against me. She can barely keep her eyes open, and then she’s fast asleep.

I lie there for a while, just watching her. The longer I do, the more I start to think that maybe this is a good thing. Maybe I should be looking at this as a fresh start? I smile, because that sounds familiar, even if it’s not what she meant.

An hour later, I’m still awake. I get up, thinking maybe if I do something else for a while, sleep will come easier. I creep outside and go for a walk. I don’t go far, because it’s three in the morning, in a strange town; it turns out I don’t need to go far.

I sit down on the curb and stare up at the sky. The silence, the darkness and the freezing cold air seem to be doing exactly what I needed. I can feel the tension leaving my mind. I close my eyes and just enjoy it for a moment. Until my phone interrupts. I check the message, and then wonder why I bothered. I shake my head, because that brings it up to about number forty. I guess I should be happy I’m so popular. I look at the message and groan.

Unknown number: All your needs are in this.

Do I click on it or not?

No. I’ve seen enough dick to last me a lifetime.

The text does remind me I still need to pay her back somehow. I have a few ideas, but none of them feel big enough. I want something that’s really going to blow her away. I smile when I think of an idea. Still not enough, but it will do for now. A little teaser, just so she knows I haven’t forgotten.

I sneak back into the bedroom, stopping when I pass her phone. I pick it up, cracking her passcode the first time. I groan silently, because I want to yell at her for having such an easy access code. One, two, three, four? Come on. When I’m done messing with her phone, I set it back down. She might not find it funny, but I sure as hell will.

I shift back the covers and climb into the bed next to her. She molds her body against mine, and I grunt. My dick doesn’t care it got some action a few hours ago. It wants more. Hell, I do too.

I run my fingers down over her naked body. I chuckle when her hand grabs hold of my wrist. I study her face—or what I can make out of it—and I’m pretty sure she’s still asleep. I let her guide my hand lower, until it’s resting against her pussy. If I ever needed any encouragement, this was it.

It’s not exactly sleeping, but if this is the alternative, I don’t care if I never sleep again.

  Chapter Thirteen

  Katie

There’s no better way to wake up than with a finger inside you and a hot guy next to you, especially if it’s in the middle of the night because it means you can go back to sleep after. I groan, tensing my thighs, locking his finger inside me as I come. He chuckles as he kisses my neck, then he rolls me on top of him. Still half asleep, I smile down at him.

“Well, hello,” he murmurs, grinning up at me.

“This is a pretty good way to be unnecessarily woken up,” I say.

“Sorry.” He grins. “I saw you lying there and I couldn’t resist.”

He laughs and slides a condom over his cock, then positions me above him. I bring myself down hard, gasping as he slices through me. He rocks me back-and-forth. I gasp, still aching from my climax, the feel of him inside me, almost pushing me into another one.

“God, watch it.” I gasp as he grabs my wrists, sending me flying down until I’m flat against him. I say with a smile. “Are you all right there?”

“That’s much better,” he mumbles. His eyes flash as he kisses me, his mouth engulfing mine, then he pulls back, long enough to smirk at me, before lifting me onto his cock.

I groan, lowering myself down on his shaft, my thighs clenching as he fills me. He rocks me, while I grind against him, his length slipping deeper inside my slick pussy. I groan, cupping my hand over his as he massages my breasts. He pinches my nipple and I cry out, my body jerking forward.

“Oh God,” I pant, rocking against his length.

He smirks and clutches my hips, driving himself faster and harder into me. He grunts as he releases, coming hard inside me. I gasp, sliding myself down onto his stiffness over and over again until I begin to climax.

“Oh,” I groan, closing my eyes.

I rock forward, my body aching as I come. I whimper, grinding gently against him, until even that is too much for me to handle. Lifting myself off him, I collapse next to him, not resisting when he pulls me into his arms. I sigh and close my eyes.

“Well, last night’s game finished better than I could’ve imagined,” he whispers in my ear.

I laugh and roll over, just enough to kiss him, then I nestle in his arms again. He kisses my shoulder, his tongue drawing circles around my neck. I smile and fight the urge for sleep when I feel myself drifting off again.

I open my eyes, glancing over at Adam, who is draped across me. I fumble for my phone as it vibrates madly on the floor next to the bed. I lift it to my face and squint.

  Darcy.

I clear my throat and put it on speakerphone, then close my eyes again, not ready to wake up just yet.

“Hey,” I say, yawning. “What’s up?”

“Not much. Why do you sound like I woke you?” she asks suspiciously.

“Because you woke me?” I suggest.

Adam chuckles and kisses along my collarbone.

“It’s eleven. You haven’t left?” She gasps. “Let me guess. You were up all night fucking Adam?”

Eleven? How the hell did that happen?

He must’ve really worn me out.

  Twice.

I giggle, then remember Darcy is on the phone.

You’re are on speakerphone,” I inform her. “And he’s right here.”

She pauses. “So, were you up all night fucking him?”

I laugh at how shameless she is. Nothing is off limits when it comes to Darcy. Unless it’s about her …

Actually, no. Even then, she’ll share too much.

“It’s none of your business.” I giggle. “Did you call for a reason other than to ask me that?”

“Oh, right.” She pauses. “I found Lily. She’s pissed, and she wants to speak to you.”

“You found her? Where?” I yell, sitting up.

“At the hotel. I found her loitering out the front,” she explains.

Adam sighs and runs his hand through his hair, his expression annoyed. Probably because she went half a conversation before she mentioned it.

“I’m going to text you the address of an apartment not far from there, okay?” he announces. “You’ll go there and stay inside until we get there.” He pauses. “Okay?”

He waits until Darcy mumbles a yes, then he gives a satisfied nod.

“Good. It’s much safer than hanging around the hotel.”

“Are we in some kind of danger?” Darcy asks.

It’s the first time in a long time I’ve heard her sound scared.

“No.” Adam doesn’t meet my eyes when he says that. “You’ll be fine so long as you don’t do anything stupid.”

  Again, no eye contact.

  “Define stupid,” Darcy says.

  Adam sighs. “Ju
st keep Lily there.”

“Excuse me, you should be asking me to keep her here,” Lily retorts.

“Fine.” He rolls his eyes. “Both of you keep an eye on the other one. How’s that?”

“I had to talk to him, Katie.” Lily cuts in with a shaky voice. “Please understand that I never wanted to hurt you.”

I roll my eyes at the standard Lily apology. It’s nearly word for word to the last apology she gave me.

“Have you spoken to him?” I ask her, frowning at Adam.

  “Not yet.” She pauses.

“And after you speak to him?” I ask.

I glance at Adam. He’s frowning about something, so he doesn’t notice me.

“If he doesn’t tell you what you want to hear, will you slash his tires and burn down the chapel?” I’m being a bitch now, but I don’t care.

“No. Of course not,” she snaps. “That’s not fair. After I talk with him, I’ll come home. I promise.”

The problem is, I’ve heard all her promises before.

“We have to get moving.” I need to end this call now, or I’ll say something I’ll want to take back. “Darcy? Keep your phone on. Call me if you need me.”

“What about Adam’s phone?” Lily asks.

  “He’s having issues with his.”

I swallow a laugh when he scowls at me.

While Adam disappears to figure out how we’re getting to Vegas, I finish getting ready. He walks back in twenty minutes later, swinging a set of keys around on his finger. He grins at me, which instantly makes me suspicious.

“What?” he asks innocently. “Go check it out.”

I follow him outside, to where he’s standing in front of a flashy looking car.

“Should I be concerned?” I carefully ask.

He stares at me disbelief clouding his eyes. He chuckles to himself as he looks down at the ground, then he rubs his jaw, before looking back up at me.

“What, you think I stole it?”

  “Maybe?”

I fold my arms over my chest and raise my eyebrows at him.

“Or whoever you got it off stole it. Either way, I’m sure it wouldn’t be the first time you’ve stolen a car.”

His mouth lifts into a grin. “You’re right. This must be number fifty?” he muses. “Unless I count all the ones I did before I went to juvie, then we’re talking closer to sixty.”

  “Juvie?”

“You didn’t know? Nine months,” he adds. He grins widely, like he’s proud of himself.

“Congratulations on such an accomplishment,” I grumble.

  “Thanks.” He smirks.

When he left, I didn’t care where he’d gone, just that the tormenting stopped. I heard rumors that he’d been sent to military camp, boarding school—and the one where he was in witness protection after witnessing a murder. They all seemed legitimate so I didn’t question it.

“Well, it doesn’t change the fact that I’m not getting in a stolen vehicle,” I snap, folding my arms over my chest. “You might be fine with going to prison, but I’m sure as hell not.”

“Why not?” His eyes twinkle as he grins at me. “Lady prison sex can be really fucking hot.”

I raise my eyebrows and wander over to him, tossing my hair seductively. When I reach him, I lean closer, so I can whisper in his ear.

“Not as hot as a three-hundred-pound biker named Tiny taking an attractive guy like you up the ass,” I whisper in his ear. “Repeatedly. You think I can handle a stick shift? Wait till you see what Tiny can do.”

He chuckles, his grin matching mine.

“Relax, Katie. I didn’t steal the car.”

“Good.” I nod, taking his word for it. “So where did it come from, then?” I ask.

“It’s a rental,” he says, grinning

I shake my head. “You couldn’t have just said that from the start?”

“It’s so much more fun watching you squirm,” he replies. He looks at his watch, then back at me. “I’m going to get a coffee, then I’ll check us out. Want one?”

  “No, I’m good.”

He nods and then walks over to the gas station. I go back inside and finish getting ready. Not that there’s much to get ready, since all we have with us is what we’re wearing. I sit on the trunk while I wait for him to come back, texting Darcy while I wait. I look up when I hear Adam returning.

  “Where’s your coffee?” I ask.

“I need gas anyway, so I’ll grab it when I pay.”

I nod and get in the car. I smile, settling back in the soft leather seats. I definitely prefer this over Julian’s car. Adam pokes his head inside after he’s filled the car.

  “Hey, would you mind paying?”

I take the cash he holds out and walk into the gas station, waiting in line behind the other half dozen people waiting to pay, finishing my text to Darcy while I wait.

Out of nowhere, my phone begins to talk. My eyes widen as I frantically try to stop it.

“Note to self; Collect secondhand pink strap on I found on Craigslist. Also: Buy disinfectant.”

My face heats up as people stop and stare at me.

  I did not write that

“Note to self; Get clarification. Does a positive herpes result mean I passed?”

  Fuck.

I finally manage to switch the damn thing off. I toss the money at the cashier and storm out, ignoring the soft whispers of the people waiting to pay. Just as I reach the door, an elderly man puts his walking stick out to stop me.

“Yes?” I snap, struggling to keep the irritation out of my voice.

“I’m sorry. I couldn’t help but overhear …” He smiles kindly, his pity filled eyes meeting mine. “I’m sorry, darlin’, but a positive means you’ve got the herpes. Worst day of my life was when my wife, Bessie, passed the herpes onto my me and my brother.”

“I’m sorry,” I mumble. I nearly laugh. What the hell do I say to that? “I have to go.”

Adam raises his eyebrows when I slide into my seat.

  “Where’s my coffee?”

  “Your coffee?” I growl.

He looks at me strangely. “Are you okay?”

“Okay?” I laugh. “I’m fucking fantastic.” I glower at him as he tries to hide his smirk. “Especially now everyone thinks that not only do I have a very accommodating vagina, and that I need to remind myself which way to wipe. But they also think I have herpes.”

Adam chuckles. “Herpes, huh?” He grins at me. “It’s probably from all the secondhand sex toys you keep buying off Craigslist.”

“You’re fucking hilarious,” I mutter. “Just tell me, are they done, or am I going to get more?”

“They’re done … More or less.” His glances at me, his eyes twinkling. “So … how attractive?”

  “What?” I snap.

“Before Tiny was violating me, you said I was attractive.” He shoots me a grin. “I was just trying to establish how into me you are. Though the way you were riding me this morning …”

“After the stunt you pulled back there?” I laugh. “Trust me when I say there will be no more riding.”

“Come on, Katie, I thought you could take a joke,” he teases.

  “I’m on this trip, aren’t I?” I mutter.

If that’s not proof I can take a joke, I don’t know what is. I shake my head and look out the window, my thoughts shifting to Lily. I’m starting to worry about her. She’s been acting off since we left for Vegas the first time. It’s more than her usual games, but I’m not sure what it is. I glance at Adam.

“Do you really think this will all turn out okay?”

He shrugs. “There’s a reason she and Julian were perfect for each other,” he says. “They’re both stubborn as all hell. Lily can handle herself in any situation, right?”

“I’m not so sure about that,” I admit. “The number of times I’ve had to help her out of trouble.”

“So, you think if you hadn’t been there, she wouldn’t have coped?”

  I frown. That’s a fair point.

Maybe Darcy is right, maybe all I do is enable her.

I open my eyes and look around. Adam glances at me, wearing his usual amused smirk. I take a deep breath and run my hand over my mouth—a stealth attempt to check for droolage before I turn to face him. He smiles at me, his blue eyes twinkling.

  “You’re awake.”

  “You’re observant.”

He chuckles, then makes a face. “I guess I deserve that.”

“It’s okay. I get it. I started a joke war.”

“For what it’s worth, I’m enjoying this.” He smiles at me. “You know … us.”

I smile, because I like hearing that. I stifle a yawn, looking forward to getting there and having a half decent sleep.

“How long have we got to go?”

“A couple of hours yet. You were sleeping pretty heavily there, so I figured you must have needed it.” He sneaks another look at me. “Are you feeling better or worse after that nap?”

  I think for a moment.

“Can I let you know when I’ve properly woken up?”

“Sure,” he says with a smirk. “You must be pretty hungry?”

  “Starving.” I nod. “You?”

“I’m always hungry,” he says. “I have an insatiable appetite,” he adds, glancing at me in a way that makes me doubt we’re still talking about food.

He pulls into a gas station and parks out front. I get out and stretch, stifling another yawn. I don’t care how well I slept. I’m still tired. Adam walks around the car to fill up. I stand there for a moment and watch him. His muscles tense as he pumps the lever, his tattoos glistening in the sunlight. I shiver, taken aback by the desire flowing through me.

  “I, uh…bathroom,” I mutter.

I push through the door of the restroom, relieved that it’s empty. I hate using public amenities with other’s there. When I’m done, I wash my hands, then splash some water on my face to try to wake myself up. I pull my phone out when it rings. It’s Darcy again.

Lily couldn’t have gone missing a third time, could she?

“Don’t tell me,” I say with a groan.

“Tell you what?” she grumbles. “That Psycho Lily is driving me crazy? Because she is.”
