The work of Tuscan novelist, poet, historian and essayist FEDERIGO TOZZI (1883-1920) has been sparsely translated. The short stories included in this issue of Conjunctions were originally published posthumously in Italy in various collections. His novel Eyes Shut, translated by Kenneth Cox, was published in 1990 by Carcanet.
PAUL VAN OSTAIJEN (1896-1928) published three collections of poetry during his short lifetime: Music-Hail, The Signal and Occupied City. Two additional volumes of poetry were published posthumously, as were collections of his many prose “grotesques” and critical essays.
LAWRENCE VENUTI’s latest books are The Scandals of Translation: Towards an Ethics of Difference (Routledge) and his translation of Finite Intuition: Selected Poetry and Prose of Milo De Angelis (Sun & Moon).
