Her mother’s words rang true. Soon, very soon, she would be a wife and a mother.

Mason smiled down at her, obviously wondering what was going through her mind. She smiled back at him. Taking his cheeks in her hands, she rose up and placed a kiss on his soft, warm lips. “Let’s go get our kids—just as soon as we finish with the sheriff. All right?”

“Yes, let’s. But first, how about if we visit a minister?”

Rebekah smiled. Mason wasn’t one to waste time once a decision was made.

“Don’t you want to wait so Jimmy and Katie can be there?”

“No, I’m not taking a chance. It would be my luck to get you back to the tent city only to find out all the ministers have left town.”

  “Okay.”

“Okay?” He eyed her with suspicion. “You never give in this easily.”

“You’ve never made me such a generous offer before.” With a coy smile, she batted her eyelashes at him.

Mason’s laugh echoed through the alley. “All right, sugar, I’d better be happy winning this battle so easily. Don’t expect I’ll be so lucky in the future.”

“Shall we, Mr. Danfield?” Rebekah held out her hand to him. With a smile that warmed her insides more than a campfire on a cold night, Mason took her hand and headed toward the street.

Rebekah looked up at the bright blue sky and smiled. She’d found a family to love and one that loved her. She knew in her heart that she’d never be on the run again. She was home.
