  Convict love token from James Branch (undated). The engraved side features the text ‘Love & Union/JAB/James Blanch/Ann Harley/SACRED TO FRIENDSHIP’ around a design of two hearts joined by a ribbon. The reverse side is the obverse of a cartwheel penny showing the bust, in profile, of a man.

  Wood engraving, 1876. The Opposum-Hill rush, near Berlin, Victoria, published in The Australian Sketcher, June 10 1876. The upper view is of Main Street showing timber and bark buildings, the Shamrock Hotel at the left and next to it J. McLeish’s store. Further along is the Bank of Victoria and another store with the sign ‘Kirwan’ and a Skittle Saloon at the right hand side. A sign advertising ‘Mrs Sibley tonight’ is on the front of the Shamrock Hotel.

  Henry ‘The Breaker’ Morant (1865–1902). A drover and horseman who began contributing verse and ballads to Sydney Bulletin in September 1891, he becoming widely known by his pen name ‘The Breaker’.
