The Vampire's Mate (Tales of Vampires Book 3) Page 14

Her eyes caught on the sight of Vangzali in the glass box. What exactly was she reading in there? The urge to leave was tugging at her, but there was also an urge to find out why this trip was so important for Vangzali. Ruth knew it definitely had something to do with Ansel Draco. She stepped inside the glass lined library, squinting at the bright light overhead. Vangzali had moved straight for a tall black book, and sat hunched over a desk, flicking through the book's thick pages. Ruth stepped closer, until she was almost standing directly above the woman.

Vangzali stopped on a double page which seemed to show a family tree. At the top of it were the words ‘Descendants of Vladimir Vrakos’. The family tree seemed to sprawl on for millennium, with countless rows of names branching off in all directions.

“All descendants are dead.” Vangzali said as she moved her finger through the pages, tracing each line to its end. “Apart from one.”

She stopped on a page which showed the ‘Drakun’ family tree. From a satchel on her side she pulled out a ream of paper. Ruth saw Ansel’s picture on the top right of the first page.

“Ansel Draco…” Vangzali muttered to herself. “Let’s see who you are…” She flicked through the pages accompanying Ansel’s photo, revealing more pages of family trees, albeit a little more modern looking. Her finger traced through the generations until she found one name, stopping and tapping her finger at it.

“Virgil Drakun. Your great great grand father.” She put the newer pages to one side momentarily and looked back at the old black book. Her finger quickly settled once more. Ruth leaned in and saw the name was the same. Virgil Drakun. Vangzali let out a deep sigh and sat back in her chair.

“So there is one descendant of Vladimir Vrakos remaining. Ansel Draco. The High Vistor will not be pleased,” she said to herself, thinking out loud.

Vangzali looked worried. Whatever the reason, news of Ansel being related to this Vrakos character seemed worrying to Vangzali. She sat there in quiet reflection for a moment, looking over at the papers in front of her, not seeming to believe it herself. She packed the book away and Ruth realized that was her signal to get out of there. Slipping outside of the glass lined section of the library, Ruth kept herself cloaked but made a sprint forward straight into the darkness. Her eyes adjusted quickly and she ran.

A few minutes later, she heard Vangzali’s roar from somewhere behind her. She’d noticed.

Getting out of the library was harder than Ruth had expected. Vangzali had navigated the broad library room and the maze like corridors around it with startling ease. If there were signs, they were well hidden, because Ruth couldn’t see any. Vangzali’s roars broke out again from somewhere in the dark and she heard the sickening crunch of bone into wood.

Whatever happened to the guard supposed to be watching over her stuff, she didn’t want to know. She stumbled across one of the corridor entrances almost by mistake, and there she found a group of red cloaked monks walking. A brief snippet of their conversation revealed they were heading for the entrance. Ruth hung back and followed the group out of there quietly. With her cloaking on, she would be invisible and remain uncaught just as long as she kept her cool.

Vangzali stormed through a few minutes later, roaring in anger, knocking the monks out of her way as she screamed bloody murder. Luckily for Ruth, Vangzali ran straight down the corridor and didn’t give the monks a second look. By the time Ruth got to the entrance, Vangzali was long gone. Outside the world was a flush of alarms and panic.

“What’s going on?” she said as she ran to meet Logan in their hiding place.

“Christ, am I glad to see you. The whole city has gone bonkers. Vangzali has called for a shutdown of this section of the Keep. She’s screaming bloody murder. Apparently someone stole her locket. I don’t suppose you know anything about that?”

Ruth pulled Vangzali’s locket out and flashed Logan a toothy grin. “Let’s get out of here shall we? How do we do this?”

“Break into Vangzali’s apartment and use it there. As far as I know it’s the only place the locket will work.”

Ruth’s heart sank in her chest. “Fuck. Really?”

“Yes. And if we want any hopes of it working, we better hurry. If I know Vangzali, she will head there right now to beat the thief.”

  “And you know the way?”

He nodded. “That was where Vangzali kept me prisoner, and I think we can beat her there if we use the sewers.”

“We better get moving then.” Ruth said, flashing Logan a smile and cloaking herself. “Sure you can keep up with me?”

Logan disappeared in front of her eyes. “Guess there’s only one way to find out.” His hand reached out in the air and wrapped around hers, linking them together in their camouflage. “Keep a tight hold Synth, I like to move fast.”

His eyes burst with black, his teeth grew long and pointed. He stood before her, sweat dripping from his naked body, his chest rising and falling. Kat flicked her eyes down to the oak between his legs, feeling her mind swim with want for him.

He crawled on top of her, pressing the hot steel of his cock against her open pussy. Their lips came together, and she raked her hands over his back, wanting nothing else in the world, thinking of nothing else.

“Oh Ansel.” She moaned slowly as his lips sucked and kissed at the rosy flesh of her hard nipples. A pit of fire opened at the bottom of her stomach, building up, threatening to burst out of her. She took his cock in her hands, stroking her palm up and down his solid shaft, marveling at his thickness as she wrapped her fingers round his head.

She was a breeder. That much they knew. Since the revelation, it was as if something drastic had changed between them. She felt as if she’d always known it. It explained her lifelong obsession with vampires, it explained her mystic joining with Ansel. Was there such a thing as destiny? There must have been. With all this talk of prophecy. With the strange circumstances in which they met.

Her breasts were large and swollen with want for him. He kissed her nipples while she pumped her hand up and down his cock. She’d never felt lust like this, and it was maddening. There was love for him inside of her that boiled like hot coals. As he dragged her lips down her stomach, she couldn’t help but let it out.

“I love you Ansel,” she exclaimed, almost gasping as the words came out. His eyes shot up to hers, wide with black.

  “I love you too.”

She tasted the sweat from her body on his lips. She wanted him, all of him. “But why? How could you love someone like me? I’m so plain, I’m so… unattractive.”

Fire burned in his glistening reds. “Not in my eyes. You are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. And I want to put a baby inside of you. My baby. Our baby.”

A nonsensical squeak came from her mouth in answer. Right now all she wanted was for him to mate her too, but they both knew the time wasn’t here yet. With a few pointers from Claire, Kat knew there were things she could do to speed up their progress.

She rolled Ansel over onto his back, straddled his thighs and pumped her hands up and down the broad girth of his cock. Ansel tucked his arms behind his head and watched her with lust, his eyes glinting with want. She pumped hard and fast, feeling his shaft tighten as he burst. Kat darted forward, wrapped her lips around his cock and caught him in her mouth. He stiffened and tightened as he pushed his seed onto her tongue. Kat kept a firm grasp on him, licking him clean with her tongue and drinking it all down. He was hard again almost straight away and flipped Kat onto her hands and knees. She had shaved, and her throbbing pink pussy was bare for him now. She was wide and wet, her folds dripping in want.

His lips kissed her pussy like fire, sending shivers of absolute pleasure through her body. He kissed, licked, flicked, teased, pulling her open and pushing his tongue inside of her. Kat loved every second, even when she felt his pointed teeth nibbling her. She batted a hand back against him, laughing into the bed covers as he nipped her.

  “Sorry.” He laughed
under his throaty breath. “I’m just making sure that everyone knows you’re mine.”

Well excuse me, she thought. Go right on ahead. She wanted the whole world to know she was his and his alone. There was an almost primitive possessiveness between vampire men and women. He was so fucking alpha and possessive it turned her on like nothing else. Her pussy was his, her body was his. If anyone else wanted it, they’d have to fight him for it, and he’d kill them in the process.

Having someone want her like that was so strange, but it was also the biggest fucking turn on. He worshiped her with his mouth, bringing orgasm after orgasm across her body. Time passed in a blur, and she found herself pressed against the bed, his body against hers.

The room was hot and sweat drenched her from head to toe. Her hips bucked back against his touch. He brought his lips up from her pussy and tongued at her ass. This brought another range of deep moans from her mouth, and she tucked a hand between her legs to work her sex. She felt him shuffling forward on the bed behind her, and then she felt his throbbing cock sliding up and down the length of her pussy.

“Ansel!” She gasped. “We can’t! I’m not ready yet!”

He spanked her with his free hand while sliding his cock up and down, driving her mad with how much she wanted him inside of her.

“Don’t worry.” He laughed. “I’m not breaking the rules. I’m just getting myself lubed up.”

Lubed up? She thought. Lubed up for what? She heard his hand slicking her juices up and down his shaft. A moment later she felt the hot marble of his head press against her tight ass, and she realized what he meant.

  Oh.

They’d never done this before, but her whole body was electric with the lust of carnal want, she wanted to do it now. He pushed against her slowly, her body relaxed around him and she felt him sink inside of her.

“Ansel, fuck…” The words came from her mouth long and needy. His head slipped inside of her and he wrapped both of his hands around her waist, smoothing his palms over the rotund shape of her curves, spanking her ass, smiling to himself as he watched it jiggle.

His cock pulsed inside of her like iron. She wrapped around him so tight it felt better than anything she’d ever felt. Why hadn’t she tried this before now? Had she been missing this all this time? He bottomed out inside of her while she rubbed hard circles across her wet sex. Her mind raced with nothing but the pleasure of their ecstasy. He rolled his hips back, drawing his cock all the way out of her up to his head, and then he pushed it back in.

  “Oh god!”

Reality blended into nothing, and the only thing left in the world now was Ansel and her. His hips slid back and forth, firing into her so divine, while his hands grabbed her in all the right places, spanking her lightly or slipping between her legs and massaging her pussy. The pleasure was almost too much for her to bear, and at one point she thought she would black out from the intensity of the hot sensations.

He came in her hard, his cock tightening like steel, bursting inside of her with a hot shower of cum. He was hard again instantly, fucking her even harder, making her squeal in delight. After the second orgasm they changed positions. He flipped onto his back and she jumped on top, anchoring her ass on top of him and sliding down slowly as she took his length entirely. The pressure from his girth didn’t hurt, it felt just right.

Straddling him, she placed her hands on his waist and rolled her hips, sliding up and down his shaft. His fingers were dug tight into her waist, wrapping around her ass and holding her tight as he thrust back against her. She lowered herself, and he worshiped her breasts with his mouth, sucking and kissing her hard nipples with affectionate bites. Kat rolled her head back and moaned to herself while closing her eyes, concentrating on the rhythm of their bodies moving together.

At last, they came together, and he burst inside, as a series of orgasms rattled across her body, making her feel as if she was lifting from the bed and floating through the air. Afterward, they lay on the bed together, panting and sweating, trying to remember anything about who they were and what they were doing here.

Sleep took her, and she burrowed in tight against his chest as she felt herself being lulled into unconsciousness. They woke together sometime later as the distant buzz of electric disappeared in the bedroom window beside them. It was night again now, and the sun had retreated once more.

Without saying much, they got up and showered together, kissing each other as they washed one another’s bodies. A numb warmth filled the space between her legs. Every moment was a small reminder of the night they shared. Every recollection brought a small smile to her lips. They dried, got dressed and made themselves presentable for the outside world once more.

“I’d be content staying here forever you know. Locked up in a room with you, letting you do awful things to my body.”

He purred, squeezing her ass tight and kissing her neck. “Hm, that sounds good. We could forget all this prophecy nonsense and just do that?”

As much as they both wanted it, there were more pressing things at hand first. Lengthening their mating process would only be better in the long run. The more time they spent torturing each other, the more likely her pregnancy would be a success.

“You realize what this means don’t you Ansel?” she asked as they walked to the common room to see if anyone else was around. “If we can breed together, that gives us an elevated status in the vampire world. You’ve seen how much more power Eric has because of Claire… we could start our own family, we could start our own dynasty.”

He squeezed her hand tight and smiled. “And we will. I know our family will live for centuries to come. The things we will do together, you and I… so many amazing things.”

In the common room they found most of the group was present, save for Edmund.

“I see the two love birds have emerged.” Claire teased as they walked over to the group. “I heard the good news Kat. Congratulations.”

Kat blushed. “Thank you. What did we miss?”

“Eric?” Claire looked over at her husband, who stood at a wide table, talking with Will York and…

Zora Vandark looked up from the miniatures on the table as Kat and Ansel approached. “The breeder and the freak. Good to see you again.”

“You.” Kat gasped. “What are you doing here?”

“Zora decided to join us.” Eric said, pulling his attention from the table. “The Order attacked her group again last night, wiping out half the vampires in her town.”

Zora nodded. “We were one week away from leaving. The Order hit us hard. They seemed angry about something.”

“Azu has cut her ties with them.” Rubago said. “Anderson will be close to losing his mind from magic and anger.”

“So what happens now?” Ansel asked. “Maybe it’s time we make a move and attack them.”

“Rubago will deal with her sister to terminate the magic inside the Order. We can deal with the shifter packs easy enough thanks to the blessed silver Zora provided.” Eric said.

“What’s the deal with the table?” Kat asked, looking at the small figurines laid out across the surface. It wouldn’t have looked out of place in a war room.

“One of Zora's men followed the Order after the attack.” Will said, and he looked at Zora to let her finish the rest.

“My men have tracked down the other half of the shifter pack. We know where they’re hiding.”

“That’s great.” Ansel looked at Will. “We can save your brother, and the rest of the vampires from your castle.”

Will nodded. “Definitely. Now we have this location we can move at once.”

  “Where are they?” Kat asked.

“A small burned out church not too far from here. There are fifteen shifters in total.”

“We will need all the help we can get.” Ansel said, and he looked around the room. “Where is Edmund?”

  “Missing.” Eric said coldly.

  “Missing?”

“Sophia followed us in secret on ou
r mission to search for Azu.” Rubago explained. “When I realized, I sent Edmund to escort her back to the castle. They haven’t returned yet, but they should have by now.”

Ansel shot his eyes at Kat immediately. “Kat, is your Cognizance telling you anything?”

Kat searched for any sign that something might be wrong with Edmund. “Not that I can tell. Rubago?”

The witch shook her head. “It’s likely they're both okay, but Eric was more concerned that Sophia was trapped alone with Edmund.”

Ansel and Kat tried to stifle their laughter. It was very obvious from the get go that the girl had a massive crush on Edmund. Eric Belmont was protective over his younger sister, and Edmund Volks wasn’t the best person to be trapped alone with.

“I’m sure they’re fine.” Kat said.

“Yes.” Ansel mirrored. “I’m sure our friend is treating your sister with much respect Eric.”

Eric sighed and pushed his fingers into the bridge of his nose. “Can we… just forget about that for now?”

“Yes.” Will said, standing up from the table. “I think it's time to rescue our friends.”

“Just say the word and I’ll be ready.” Ansel said. “When are we heading out?”

“My men are ready and waiting in the courtyard.” Zora said. “We’re just finalizing our plan of attack.”

“We leave within the hour Ansel.” Eric said. “Kat I’m asking you stay here along with Rubago and Claire. We already know this mission will be hellfire, I want the Cognizants here just in case.”

Kat looked at Ansel. She didn’t want to leave him, but she agreed to it.

“Don’t forget us.” Edmund’s voice boomed as he burst through the door behind them. Stood beside him was a rather timid looking Sophia, with her hand in his.

Eric closed his eyes slowly and let out a long sigh. “Good to see you made it back. I’d love to sit down and have a talk with you Edmund, but we’re about to go to war.”

“Well, shit.” Edmund stepped into the room, with Sophia at his side. “I was never one for sharing feelings, anyway. I’d rather we got straight down to it.”
