  Surviving the Fall

Surviving the Fall is an episodic post-apocalyptic series that follows Rick and Dianne Waters as they struggle to survive after a devastating and mysterious worldwide attack. Trapped on the opposite side of the country from his family, Rick must fight to get home while his wife and children struggle to survive as danger lurks around every corner.

  Prip’Yat: The Beast of Chernobyl

Two teens and two Spetsnaz officers travel to the town of Prip’Yat set just outside the remains of the Chernobyl power plant. The teens are there for a night of exploration. The special forces are there to pursue a creature that shouldn’t exist. This short thriller set around the site of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster will keep your heart racing right through to the very end.

  Authors’ Notes

  January 15, 2018

  Dear Readers,

Thank you so much for surviving the first book of The Long Fall series and we promise so much more action and fast-paced post-apocalyptic adventure to come! It's been my pleasure to write this story and if you enjoyed the characters from book one, be ready to meet some new ones in book two as well. You'll of course still see the old faces during the catastrophic things occurring on our dear planet, and find out more about them as they journey.

From learning about Antarctica to studying conspiracy theories here at home in the USA, it's been an incredible experience to write with Mike Kraus and build this world for you to enjoy.

Stay tuned for even more twists and turns in the next book!

  Dear Readers,

Wow. It’s been nearly a year (around 1 month shy of a year, actually) since I relaunched my writing career and I can’t believe how well things have gone. Thanks to all of you awesome readers I was able to relaunch Final Dawn in an omnibus edition, launch my episodic Surviving the Fall series and launch a novel-length series called No Sanctuary. Making a living writing is a dream come true and I have all of you awesome readers to thank for that.

When I first got back into the publishing business near the start of 2017, I met Logan in a popular indie author Facebook group and we hit it off well, even though we never wrote in the same genres. I’ve always been an adventure/thriller type writer and Logan’s done everything from romance to horror and fantasy. When we came up with the idea for The Long Fall, I wanted to make sure that we did the same type of thing that I’m doing with my series: give you characters that are fun to read, a story that propels them forward and an adventure that makes you stay up late reading.

I read the preface for The Long Fall quite a while before the whole thing was finished, and I was sold on co-authoring with Logan before I even finished. Even in a rough draft format I was riveted, I couldn’t put it down and I even got goosebumps at one of the pivotal scenes. I really really like this story and where it’s going and I hope you do, too.

Co-authoring is a whole new thing for me. I’m someone who very much likes to be fully in control of things in my sphere of influence and I’ve had to learn to let go of some of that when working with Logan and two other co-authors who you’ll be meeting soon. The way we’re working is that we come up with the story ideas together, then the co-authors take that idea and run with it, creating a draft that I then look at. I give feedback on it, edit it to add or remove elements, and then we kick it back and forth until it looks good.

Even with that level of involvement it’s been a learning experience for me to go from taking care of everything myself to working with other people and their different writing styles, strengths and weaknesses, most of which are all different from mine. But you know what? It’s a really great experience and I fully believe that we’re creating stories that are better than we could have come up with on our own.

I really hope you enjoyed this first episode of The Long Fall saga. We’re planning on this being a 10-12 series, with each book being around 25,000-30,000 words long, and we’ll be publishing a new one every month.

If you enjoyed this episode of The Long Fall or if you didn’t like something—I’d love to hear about it. You can drop me an email or send me a message or leave a comment on Facebook. You can also sign up for my newsletter where I announce new book releases and other cool stuff a few times a month.

Answering emails and messages from my readers is the highlight of my day and every single time I get an email from someone saying how much they enjoyed reading a story it makes that day so much brighter and better.

Thank you so very much for reading this book. We’ll see you in the next one.

  All the best,

  Mike
