  Latisha had finally accepted Christ into her life. She’d gotten baptized and her tough attitude had softened. Latisha had been one of Misty’s bridesmaids in her wedding.

  After the wedding, Misty and Jennifer had moved into Sterling’s home. Since Adrian lived across the street, Misty was still able to help her cousin with errands and she continued to take her to work every day. Sterling hosted a monthly barbeque, having his twin brothers over. Latisha and Adrian usually attended the barbeques, too. Sterling’s barbeque ribs and chicken were the best, and Louis had teased that he only came by to enjoy Sterling’s good food. It was nice for everybody to come together monthly.

  Once the last diploma had been awarded, Ms. Tweed stepped up to the microphone. “I now present the preschool graduating class!”

  Jennifer peered into the audience, her dark eyes shining with warmth. She grinned and gave her family a little wave. Sterling snapped pictures with his phone.

  “We have a lot to be thankful for,” he whispered in her ear. He beamed. His chocolate brown eyes shimmered with tears of joy.

  She returned his smile, leaned into him. “Yes. We sure do.”
