About the Author
Prologue
“When will she be brought back?” Angela snapped and looked at Henry who was patiently standing in front of her desk. He knew bringing her bad news was going to mean she would punish him but he didn’t care because if he kept something from her, he knew it would be worse.
“We don’t know. They know she is somewhere in the upper states, but since we lost them before they got to their destination, we aren’t sure where. Our men know they have dealings with several other clubs up there, so until we find out exactly where, we would be pissing in the wind trying to guess,” Henry said, and Angela glared at him.
“I need her now, not a month from now, we need to figure out something to get her back here,” she snapped, and Henry sighed.
“I understand, but unfortunately your daughter is not going to bring her back for just any reason, it is going to need to be something good. Shady is not a fool; she will see if we try to play her,” he pointed out, and Angela swung her chair until it was facing backward.
She said, “Think of something because I need her before she is totally ruined by those so-called bikers like my daughter was. Once she was obedient, now she is just like all the other women, stupid.”
Henry nodded and then turned slowly, paused, and said, “If we find a way, your daughter will not go down without a fight.”
There was silence and then she said, “I am counting on that; there is some unfinished business between my daughter and me.”
Henry nodded and walked out of the room leaving her to her thoughts. She wasn’t lying, she did have a score to settle with Shady or whatever she called herself these days. All Shady had to do was play the game until she was eighteen and they would have had everything, but she had run away, leaving Angela in that hell-hole by herself.
She closed her eyes, the shit she had dealt with when it came to her ex-husband was something no one should ever need to see. It had made her stronger, and for that, she was a little grateful. But her daughter? She was going to pay for doing what she had done; Angela wasn’t going to show any mercy to her, and if it meant taking out that whole biker club, then she would, piece by piece.
Katerina ‘Kit’ Delgado sat at her desk and watched the man with no soul leave her boss’s office. She had no idea how she had gotten messed up in this situation, but she really needed to get out. When her father mentioned Angela needed a personal assistant, she had jumped at the chance to stop working at the sweatshop in town. She wanted something more for her life; her family was poor, her father worked as a gardener for Angela, so it seemed like the perfect job.
The woman didn’t do anything out of the ordinary for the first few years she worked for her. Her boss played with her charities and made sure Katerina always had time off when needed, she was kind.
Then she began to notice little things, a phone call here, a message there. Things she didn’t understand and were brushed under the carpet by Angela. But the day her boss came into her office and asked her to make contact with a disgusting man who was the head of a local biker gang that was involved in many seedy deals, was the last straw. Everyone knew them, and everyone stayed away from them so they didn’t draw attention to themselves. After that, Katerina began to pay closer attention. Things she thought were innocent were just a cover; her boss was involved in some dangerous things. She wanted nothing to do with it, and when she told her father, he freaked. He knew the ways of the world in Mexico, do not ask questions and do your job. Unfortunately, she refused to be the typical mold of an obedient daughter. Kit had deliberately learned and spoke English, she had scrimped and saved and gone to college. The fights, oh the fights she had with her father were legendary according to her mother. But Kit had won in the end, and damned if she would lose everything now.
The money she had been bringing in helped the family too much. He ordered her to continue working and to keep her mouth shu
t. It went against everything she believed in and pissed her off that her father had ordered her to do it. Her father knew she wouldn’t leave, if nothing else she did believe in sticking together with family, and until she had enough to allow her parents to retire peacefully, Kit was going to work her ass off. That was her goal, to get them comfortable before she left and continued with her life. Kit had plans, she was driven, she was smart, and there was no way she was going to get into trouble for this woman. So, she made a decision; she was going to get as much information as she could and then give it to whoever needed it.
Now, she was watching everything, and knowing that they planned on harming a girl and her mother was not okay with her; it made her even more determined. She couldn’t let that go.
Thank goodness she had taken courses in computers. She ended up being quite good at them and made some connections along the way. Making up her mind, she was going to call someone she met in one of her classes to ask for help. Kit could only watch the clock as the hands moved slowly throughout the rest of the day.
Chapter One
Asher ‘Data’ Silver and Lane ‘Numbers’ Graile were right where they always were, in the smaller office of the Ops Warriors working on their computers. That is what they loved, and being a part of the club didn’t change a damn thing. The guys knew they could take care of themselves if needed, but they were much more valuable on a computer.
Lane ‘Numbers’ Graile was the treasurer of the club. He ran all the accounts and knew where every single dime the club had was located. The various accounts they owned may not be exactly legal, but no one would be able to prove a damn thing. He covered up everything and was good at it. To say the club was doing good was an understatement. They were doing great, but none of them really cared about the money. If they had a bike and a roof over their head, they were happy. That was why he loved the club, they took you for what you were, and they just lived free. Lane was tall and thin, which was deceptive since the man was lethal in hand to hand combat. He was also boyishly handsome; he claimed it was because he worked behind a desk instead of with his hands, as many of the guys. His dark hair remained short by his choice.
Asher ‘Data’ Silver was the computer guru of the club, well for the most part, since Boony had come in, he had helped pick up some of the slack. Asher ran the sites for all the shops; he also did all the investigating needed for the club. He could find a needle in a haystack if needed; he was that good. NSA had tried to court him when he came out of the military, but Data had just laughed and declined. Asher was a typical surfer boy, bleach blond hair, lithe figure, and had a constant five o’clock shadow. The fact the man wore flip-flops even on his bike was a testament to his style, well that, and the joint he constantly had behind his ear. When marijuana was declared useful in treatment for pain, Asher had been the first in line to get his medical marijuana card.
Since moving to San Diego the two men had been busy, shit had hit the fan on many
different fronts, but the most important was Shady’s mother whom apparently was alive and well, and currently a pain in their ass. The Ops Warriors had legitimate businesses and the not so legitimate ventures. The ventures that kinda walked the line of the law was their weapons hold, as well as their mercenary work they did, which could be construed as vigilante behavior. Their custom bike shop, the tattoo parlor, as well as Bitches 2, which is their gentlemen’s club, aka a high-class strip club. They were successful, but they were not stupid. Most of their money came from the mine they used to own. They sold it with a very nice profit that basically allowed them to continue to do what they wanted, which right now was helping abused women and children escape their abusers.
They started this because of Shady. The Lady Riders each had their own story, but
Shady’s was particularly bad. The leader of the Lady Riders had been sexually abused by her mother’s husband and son. They were into child pornography and selling women into slavery.
Jas, Shady’s daughter whom she thought was placed in a good home, was one of the victims. It had almost destroyed Shady, but instead, she had become adamant about helping others, and together with the Ops Warriors, the Lady Riders had taken down a large ring. Apparently, though, they had missed that Shady’s mother, whom they all assumed was dead, actually wasn’t.
She was a sick bitch as well, so they were going to take her out too. It was the only way Shady would be safe, they all knew it.
So today, they were in the office pooling their resources to get any information they could get on Angela Reyes and her location. They were done fucking around with this woman.
She had sent people to attack their club, their members, and they were going to get a taste of what happened when you fucked with the Ops.
“She is in Mexico; we know that at least,” Data muttered.
Numbers chuckled and said, “Yeah, and that will make her so easy to track.”
Data rolled his eyes and said, “Bro, she may be in another country and shit, but there is way more people who can be bribed there than here. We just need to find the right person to ask, preferably one who will not get another target put on our backs. Here is the last picture I can seem to find on here, it was taken just last year, but I don’t know where.”
“Who is that standing with her?” Numbers asked, and Data frowned and shrugged.
He leaned over and looked at the tall, full-figured woman who was standing behind
Angela holding a briefcase and coat. Her hair was slightly skewed, and she looked flushed as if she was struggling to hold everything. It was her eyes that drew Data’s attention, they were vibrant and expressive, so much so, he knew she hated her job. Her lips, on the other hand, were what Numbers noticed; they were full and kissable. They both were looking intently at the picture for minutes before one of them finally commented.
“Shit she is kinda hot,” Numbers muttered, and Data smiled.
“Yeah, we are lusting over a picture, I think that means we need to get laid. It has been too long, man.”
Numbers chuckled and said, “We need to have a party; maybe we should spend the night at Bitches. Apparently, some of the new women are hot as shit.”
Data nodded. “Maybe, but first we need to deal with this. Do you know anyone in that neck of the woods to check without raising eyebrows? It seems like everyone is looking to knock us outta here quick now that we have established everything.”
“Now that the Furies are here as well, they all know it will be harder to take one of us out, this shit really couldn’t come at a worse time. Besides, with all the women sick, no one is leaving the compound unless it is to work or get meds,” Numbers said absently, and Data laughed.
“And they will try.”
Numbers snorted and said, “You know, after what happened with the Furies and shit, it seems like maybe some of our old friends have become enemies. The girls are going to want to make sure who holds their Lady Riders’ patches; we already know that Sadie and Tammy right now are suspect; Shady is going to do some digging. Not to be an ass or anything, but considering they were working to destroy the Accaci family, we are going to need to deal with them sometime. She thinks Sadie has no clue what is really going on, we are going to need to send someone for her. Charro already sent his patch back with a fucking knife through it, so I am kinda figuring that at this point, they are already at the top of the list, we just need to see how far they have gone. Then we will make the decision about what to do with them.”
Data sighed. “Yeah, that was pretty fucked up, and with Ricco calling in and telling Z the story just furthers the anger. They didn’t care about us, they only wanted the fucking money.
Brothers do not do that to brothers; it just goes to show you that people can be bought if they’re desperate enough. I figure all the money they stole from us went up their noses anyway.”
“Yeah, well it just adds to the list of people we have been pissing off by staking our claim on this land and showing people what fucking loyalty and fa
mily means to us. Some people are not worth it, and we have had our share of losers. It is time to clean some house and get this shit right. Creed and Fork, they won’t be fooled again. The Furies, fuck no, they wouldn’t stab us in the back, they are just like us. We have all been in the military and have the same beliefs. The fuckers in Arizona, on the other hand, have no honor,” Numbers growled.
That was one thing that bound them all together with a tie that was unbreakable. They had pride in their service, love for their country, and brothers not by blood but by values. They lived in a world where their laws superseded everything, and they respected that. You didn’t have to approve; you only needed to see the results.
“I think we are going to have a little more help in that area anyway. General Tang retired last week. Charro and Knight are formally going to ask for him to be a member of the Ops Warriors at church tomorrow, he will be a Prospect, but they are seeking to forgo the usual time we require for prospecting if he proves himself another way. Charro wants the betrayers dealt with. And Shady wants Moon and Lips to put out feelers to Sadie. We are just gonna need to figure out how to do all of this and get more men who are trained. No way Creed and Fork are going to sacrifice anyone,” Data said.
“Well shit,” Numbers laughed softly. “Raise a little hell, man.”
“Hell yeah,” Data agreed and began searching again for the woman’s location.
They worked steadily for five hours and they still couldn’t make that tie to an exact location. However, they did find the Vipers little hidey hole and Data was calling Creed and Fork now to come see what they found. Both men, although they wouldn’t admit it, would absently turn and stare at the picture of the woman they knew nothing about. There was just something about her, she looked vulnerable, and innocent. Not what they would normally go for since the two men had spoken the very first time Easy and Poke had claimed Freedom. That was what they wanted some day, to settle down with one woman. But let’s face it, that was a lofty dream since it was so unusual of a relationship. Now, after seeing a woman who affected them both with just seeing her in a picture? Well, it looks like maybe there was hope for the two of them as well. Maybe not this woman, but at least they both had similar reactions to a woman. In the past, even though they had shared, the still hadn’t found one that instantly made them both want to know more. It had always just been a novelty. With the woman in the picture, it was something else, something they had never felt before.
