“I’ve been planning this all week but I had to keep my fingers crossed for the weather,” John said.
“It’s perfect,” she replied.
“I spoke to Finn last night,” he said.
She made a weird sound in the back of her throat and the tiny salmon quiche that she had been eating went somewhere that it shouldn’t. She coughed and spluttered and John had to bash her on the back with considerable force to release it. She sipped the wine and waited for her breath to come back while trying to decide what to say to him.
“It’s okay. He’s charismatic and every woman’s dream apparently,” John said. “I can see the attraction and it’s okay. I like you and I want to be with you but I don’t get much time off so maybe you should take some time to get to know both of us.”
“Wow, I wasn’t expecting that,” she said, and it felt like a weight had been lifted from her.
*****
John couldn’t tell her the truth; he was shy in all aspects of his life and he never thought he’d be able to explore that deeper darker part of himself. Angela was a sweet girl and was obviously torn up about being involved with two men at once. He didn’t know how to reassure her. The thought of Finn’s hands all over her made him hot as hell and his only wish was that he’d been there to see it and maybe even participate, not that he’d ever done anything like that.
Growing up on a farm with two loving, hardworking parents had been a wonderful experience but what his parents hadn’t noticed during the hot evenings was the various farm hands’ not so private activities.
He’d only ever watched, of course, but it had set the bar. He loved the forbidden, taboo act of voyeurism but he also wanted to get involved. He wanted to kiss his girl while another man made her gasp with pleasure. He wanted to put his hands on the other man and that made him feel guilty.
His family were accepting of all kinds of people and had employed more than one homosexual couple. Watching them had given him such mixed feelings that he’d had to get away from the farm; his desire never went away and he never grew out of it. His own sexuality made him feel socially awkward. It was his dirty little secret but what he would give to share it and actually experience it for real.
“You okay? You’re deep in thought,” Angela asked, touching his arm.
“I’m fine baby,” he said, kissing her lightly on the cheek.
She turned to him, sliding closer, and wrapped her arms around his neck. She reached her lips up to his and he met them with a deep and sensual kiss.
He felt the fire burning inside of him and the thought of her with Finn, with Finn’s hands caressing her body, made him hard as a rock. She must have sensed his desire because she slipped one hand down to his shirt and tugged it loose. Her soft hand on his stomach was divine, but he was straining against the tight jeans he’d decided to wear because they emphasized his butt and it was becoming uncomfortable.
He needn’t have worried about the pressure because she released it. She unclipped his belt with a small flick of her wrist and his manhood sprang out like a jack-in-the-box. He moaned into her mouth and she skimmed her hand across his lap brushing the tip.
She was teasing him and he loved it. Her mouth had traveled south and was trailing kisses down his throat and somehow his hands had found their way under her sweater and encountered a bra that she needed to lose.
“I want you,” she moaned against him and he felt his shirt loosen further.
“Me too,” he mumbled as he pulled her sweater over her head.
The moonlight touched her skin like a silky blanket and when he unclipped her bra, it fell away leaving the prettiest, pert breasts he’d seen in years. He briefly wished that he’d seen Finn’s hands or even mouth on her, teasing her nipples just like he was about to do. Her skin smelled like flowers and he breathed deeply before licking her nipple. When she groaned, he stopped to watch her reaction but she wanted more from him and he was soon extracted from his jeans.
She pushed him back onto the blanket and slid one leg over him. As she brought her weight down onto him he felt her slick center touch his cock. Grabbing her hips, he positioned her over him and they both gasped as he slid her down his length. The moon behind her made her shine like a goddess as she rode him. She didn’t hold back; she took her pleasure quickly, and he admired the way her breasts bounced on her chest as she rose and fell.
She came before him but only just and when he felt her tighten in waves around him he couldn’t hold on any longer; he exploded into her just before she collapsed into his arms.
The world was silent aside from their heavy breathing and the distant bark of a dog. The air was cooler when the sweat dried on their naked bodies and he pulled the blanket around them as they relaxed against each other.
When he figured their silence had become awkward, he felt the need to speak but he wasn’t good at orchestrating conversations and it took him time to pluck up the courage. She was obviously awake and watching the stars but she looked so peaceful that he didn't want to say the wrong thing and ruin her moment.
“Now I’m deep in thought,” she said, smiling up at him.
“Is everything okay?”
“More than okay,” she said, snuggling closer. “Are you really okay with me seeing Finn?”
“I am,” he replied.
“I would stop if you asked me to,” she whispered against his chest.
“You don’t need to, I’m fine with it,” he said, kissing her temple.
“And you definitely want to see me again?” she asked.
“Very much so,” he replied. “Please don’t doubt that.”
“Most men wouldn’t want to be a part of this,” she said.
“I do, honestly, you don’t have to worry,” he said.
“Why?” She was sitting up now and he began to get nervous. “Why is it okay? I’m not part of some stupid bet going on at the fire station am I?”
“God no, I just don’t mind, okay. I guess I kind of like it,” he said, and it was too late to pull the words back in.
“You like it? In what way?”
“I don’t feel comfortable telling you, not yet,” he replied and was mentally kicking himself.
“That is a conversation I would like to explore but right now I can see a dog walker and if I can see him, then he can see me and I’m naked,” she said, giggling.
He turned to see a middle-aged man walking across the hill. He was obviously trying to pretend that he hadn’t seen them but his gaze kept snapping back to Angela as she pulled on her panties; she was struggling because she was laughing so hard. He helped her dress and packed up the picnic; he considered their date a huge success, so long as she forgot about the conversation she wanted to have with him in the future.

It was awkward for the first few minutes; she undressed and slipped on her least frumpy nightdress and he removed all of his clothes except his boxer shorts. They both got into the bed and she turned the light off, leaving them in the loudest silence ever. Just as she was beginning to notice every noisy beat of her heart, he reached out and pulled her against him. She sighed against his chest, enjoying the heat that radiated from its large expanse.
“This is nice,” he whispered into her hair. “This is what I’ve missed most being single.”
She wanted to ask some questions but she didn’t want to spoil the mood and his breathing was deepening. Within moments he was asleep and she couldn’t help but smile. This was what she missed most too, but the sex had been amazing, not that she could say she missed great sex. Her previous partners had barely raised her heartbeat let alone given her Olympian orgasms. No, the great sex was definitely a new feature in her life and she hoped it was there to stay.

Angela woke to find the space next to her in the bed empty and although she wasn’t surprised, she found that she was very disappointed. She had felt his presence all night, even if it was just his breath on the back of her neck, and she’d felt safe, prot
ected. Waking up to find he was gone revealed a gap in her chest and she leaned over to his side of the bed, inhaling his scent. The sheets were still warm; he couldn’t have been gone long.
“Good morning! I thought I’d surprise you with breakfast in bed but you don’t have bacon, eggs, or anything exciting. I found some marmalade, though, hope you like it,” he said smiling down at her.
“Wow, you made me breakfast,” she said, sitting up.
Warm, buttery toast with a thick layer of marmalade and a large cup of breakfast tea. She could die happy now; her world was complete. Lucy jumped between them on the bed, meowed, then curled up and went to sleep.
“I fed Lucy too,” John said. “Why does your cat have a girl’s name?”
“I thought he was a girl,” she said, laughing. “He’s a rescue cat and when I couldn’t see the hairy pair, I assumed he was female but my neighbor informed me that I was wrong and so I kind of changed it to Lucifer, officially.”
“Well, that makes sense, I guess,” he replied.
“So, we have an unfinished conversation, remember,” she said, looking up at him.
He blanched and went very still so she knew it wasn’t something he was comfortable sharing. She wished she hadn’t brought it up but it was out now and she couldn’t take it back. He fidgeted with the quilt for a while and her over-imaginative brain went into overdrive, wondering what could be so bad that he was ashamed to tell her.
“You don’t have to tell me but it really can’t be that bad. You’re a wonderful person, John: caring, kind, funny, and considerate. Whatever it is you can tell me or you can wait but it won't make any difference,” she said.
“I’m not sure. It’s just a small part of my life, my history. I just think, why jinx it?”
“Another day, then,” she said.
She moved her plate to the bedside table and pulled her nightdress over her head, hoping that he wasn’t too disturbed by their conversation to respond. The color came back to his cheeks and his smile returned. This time, she took it slowly and they explored each other’s bodies under the morning sunshine. Lucy soon got fed up with the movement on the bed and left them to it.
Angela touched every inch of his body and she could see the effect it had on him. She teased him until he begged for release and she enjoyed her power.
“I really have to have you now,” he said, dragging her hips over to his.
She wrapped her legs around him as he built a rhythm. His muscles rippled as his hands wandered and she enjoyed the way he sank deeper into her. She didn’t mean to compare the two men, but they were so different and both amazing lovers.
Finn had been about self-indulgence and his confidence in his ability had been a turn on. John was aiming to please her beyond himself and she appreciated that.
“Was Finn in this bed? Was he on top?” he asked but he was still driving into her.
“Why would you ask me that now?”
“Because I want to know, it’s nice,” he said.
“Yes to both questions,” she answered.
“God damn, I hope you're nearly ready. I am,” he hissed.
Strangely, she was. His desire had increased when he’d mentioned Finn and his passion was infectious. She lifted her hips, and the intensity deepened until she felt the waves of pleasure hit her like a train. He came right alongside her before collapsing onto the bed with a grunt. She had met many men in her life and she had a feeling that he was a little different.

John left Angela that morning knowing that she had a date that evening with Finn. He knew by reputation alone that Finn wasn’t the type of man who spent time and effort on the softer side of romance; in that respect, John would always have the upper hand and Angela really seemed to enjoy that side of him. He wasn’t sure how she felt about his desire to visualize her with Finn.
He’d told Angela that he wanted her to explore her desire for Finn so that she would know how she felt about him in the future. It was cheesy but he wasn’t quite ready to tell her what was really going on in his head. He probably never would be. She had agreed but he could see that she thought it was weird. She was right; it was weird, but it was him and he couldn’t change it.
When he walked into the station, he found Finn just stepping out of the showers. The man was built for women’s pleasure, there was no doubt about that. Finn’s muscles were more defined than his own and he’d seen the way women lusted over him. John had secretly lusted over him but the last thing he wanted was that knowledge getting out in the station.
“Hi Finn,” he said. “Can I have a word with you?”
“How’s it going, lover boy?” Finn drawled, leaning against the wall with a smirk on his face.
John kept his eyes locked with Finn’s for fear of watching the droplets of water slide down the man’s body. He tried not to think of Angela’s hands stroking the abs that trailed down towards the damp towel that hung low on the man’s hips. He was finding it really hard to concentrate and that wasn’t the only thing that was hard.
“You have a date with Angela tonight, right?”
“I do, are you jealous? I can let her down gently,” Finn said, leaning closer.
How the man made his words so provocative he had no idea but John was starting to sweat. The tension in the room was electric and the thought that all there was covering Finn’s body was a flimsy towel, loosely tucked around him was driving him crazy. Eyes up John, he thought to himself, fighting for control.
“I’m not jealous, I don’t really get jealous. I just wanted to say go for it, have fun,” he said.
“Sure thing, Johnny boy,” Finn said, grinning. “I thought we’d stay home and watch a movie. I get to stroke that cute pussy, Lucy, right? And she will get the pleasure of my expertise in films.”
John was not imagining the seductive tone Finn used or the leering look he gave him. Finn might appear shallow on the surface but sometimes John thought the man could see inside his soul and it gave him shivers. He just wasn’t sure if they were shivers of fear or anticipation. The man made him feel like a teenager and he was blushing like one, just to make matters worse.
“She’ll love it,” he replied but his voice came out more of a husky whisper.
Finn smiled liked the devil and looked him over; John felt stripped bare. Finn’s gaze had lingered slightly on his bulging pants and John could swear he physically felt that gaze. His cock twitched and a ripple of desire ran through him once more, causing him to close his eyes. When he opened them Finn was gone.

It was becoming a long shift. Nothing was happening in the town and he was too distracted to sit with his colleagues. The thought of Angela made him warm and sent a pleasant feeling through him. He really liked her and he was pretty sure she liked him too. The thought of Angela with Finn gave him an instant hard-on and in his line of work he didn’t want the distraction. Finn had been teasing him but it was like he knew about John’s secret. That thought scared him; he couldn’t work closely with the men in his unit if they thought he was a pervert.
When the call came at around midnight that evening he almost welcomed the distraction. He suited up and jumped into the truck, fully focused and alert. He was good at his job and he loved it. It had been his dream since he was a young boy although his father had hoped that he’d take over the farm. The sirens always kick started his adrenaline, so he was primed for the work the minute his feet touched the ground.
This time, it was different. When they pulled into Angela’s driveway, his heart plummeted and he didn’t feel focused or ready. He felt like he’d been kicked in the chest by a horse. Smoke flooded into the area and fogged up the trees on the green that separated the car park from the small row of houses.
He couldn’t see the house but he knew it was hers. There were flames; he could feel the heat. He’d seen the candles dotted around her home and felt responsible. If he had given her the statistics about fires started through the use of candles, then thi
s wouldn’t have happened, he just knew it.
It didn’t take him long before he remembered that Finn should be there too and that worried him even more. The man should have been able to put it out without any fuss; he didn’t know what was happening in there but he needed in. He started running.
“John, focus,” he heard his boss snap. “Protocol.”
He rushed towards the heat without any breathing apparatus or other equipment. Just before he reached the door someone pulled him back and he realized what he had been about to do. He was an idiot; he was no use to them and he would only get in the way. He fell back and let his team get closer with the equipment.
“This your girl’s house?” someone asked.
“It is,” he replied, starting to cough.

When Finn had left John to stew back at the station, he’d only been teasing. Everyone knew the guy was a little on the odd side but Finn knew more because he’d seen it before; hell he’d seen everything before. Finn had his own hang-ups so he knew how hard it could be to accept them, to accept yourself.
Finn didn’t have a complicated sexuality. That side of his life was A-okay but he didn’t do commitment and he wasn’t ready to address the issue. He was pretty sure that his own issues ran deeper than John’s voyeurism and the fact that the man was desperate for a little bi-action.
Finn had planned to stay home with Angela, watch a movie and christen the sofa but when he got there all he could think about was John’s shyness and he figured there was definitely something he could do for the guy. Angela was wearing clothes that were suitable for watching a movie: comfortable and easy to remove. He’d helped her pick out a new outfit and then fired up the bike.
The club wasn’t your average nightclub and he’d tried to explain beforehand but in reality all he’d done was drop hints. Her eyes were truly opened when she stepped through the door but she didn’t balk and she hadn’t run, so far.
