by Dennis Vanderkerken

Rose – Chaos cultivator and wife of Hans. She spent most of her life with her Aunt Chandra before making her way to Mountaindale and meeting her friends. She will happily slay a man with her speech or with her arrows. They decide.

Rosewood – Wood Elves with an unbreakable passion for fashion, and making clothes.

Rota – A sturdy and strapping Dwarf whose jokes latched him with the nickname “Otter,” he once tried to scribe Runes onto a set of gambling dice. Beware of the explosions around this wily lad.

Royal Advisor – A big bad. Direct hand to the Mistress, the Queen and Regent in charge of the Ziggurat. Lover of the Cobra Chicken, and Swans.

Salt Village – The main location of Artorian’s Archives One, where the majority of the story takes place. It is located in the Fringe, and is a day’s journey from the Lapis Village.

Salt Flats – A location in the Fringe. The Salt Village operates by scraping salt from the Salt Flats, a place where the material is plentiful. It is their main export.

Scar – Known as ‘The Scar.’ A location in that Fringe that includes the Salt Flats as one of its tendrils. It is rumored to be a kind of slumbering dungeon.

Scilla – A small girl that lives in Chasuble. She is afflicted by an effect that caused her irises to permanently turn pink.

Sequoia – Wood Elves that will not be forgotten, even without them speaking.

Shamira – Scilla’s mother. She is a resident of Chasuble, and not particularly happy about the conditions there.

Sproutling – A title for a child in the Fringe who has not yet been assigned a name, and thus is not considered an adult. Until a certain key event, this includes the famous five: Lunella, Grimaldus, Tychus, Wuxius, and Astrea.

Skyspear Academy – An Academy present on the world’s tallest mountain.

Socorro – A desert in the central-band, eastern portion of Pangea. It used to be a place for something important. Now there is only sand, and ruin.

Soul Item – A construct made in a Soul Space that specializes the Mage to a certain set of ideas and concepts, allowing for advancement into the A-ranks and beyond.

Soul Space – A realm accessible by cultivators that exists outside of the self. Vastly important for Mages to keep increasing in rank. Soul Spaces are morphous in size, and tend to hold a Mage’s ‘Soul Item.’

Soul Space [Cal] – Cal’s Soul Space is being designed to hold an entire world. Divided by several landmasses and unique locations:

Midgard – The human, wolfman, and plant-people realm in Cal’s soul space. This skyland supports anything in the G- to D-ranks, and is where a majority of individuals are decanted. Run by Marie, Henry, Chandra, and Aiden.

Alfheim – The realm for the majority of Elves in Cal’s Soul Space. This skyland supports anything in the C-ranks. Is built around having pill cultivation. Alfheim has no supervisor.

Svartalfheim – The realm of the Dwarves in Cal’s Soul Space. This skyland supports anything in the ranks. Is built on Aether cultivation. Svartalfheim has no supervisor.

Vanaheim – The realm of the Gnomes in Cal’s Soul Space. This skyland supports anything in the low B-ranks. Vanaheim is home to all the pylons that run Cal’s bracket spells, and a land of many wondrous inventions. Beneath its shiny exterior, a civil war takes place. Deverash is Vanaheim’s supervisor.

Jotunheim – The realm of massive Beasts and gigantic Jotun in Cal’s Soul Space. Home to many wonderful chosen and a door named Ellis, this skyland supports anything in the mid B-ranks. Artorian is the supervisor of Jotunheim.

Niflheim – The realm of Mists and home of the Dark Elves in Cal’s Soul Space. This skyland is set almost completely on its side, and supports anything in the upper B-ranks. Niflheim is run by Brianna.

Muspelheim – The realm of fire, sand, and goblins in Cal’s Soul Space. This skyland has many separate layers, from the floating triremes in the sky, to the paradise beneath the surface, and supports anything in the upper B-ranks. Many different races have found a home in Muspelheim; including Lamia, goblins, C’towl, Lizards, and a giant serpent named Jorm. This realm is overseen by Dawn.

Asgard – The realm of elementals, heroes, and small party accidents. This skyland supports anything A-ranked; from minimum to apex. (As well as Odin’s ego, if just barely.) This realm was having a swarm problem, but after some… suggestions, those were taken care of. Odin is the supervisor of this realm.

Hel – The realm of all things S-ranked in Cal’s Soul Space. This is the only spherical realm in Cal’s world, and is made of all the corrupted ash from things dead and dying. Home to Gibble, the bone gazelle. Hel is supervised by Occultatum.

Sun – Giant ball of interlocking rings and runes meant to provide light to all in Cal’s Soul Space… Before the administrator caused it to explode. Home to Artorian’s Archives.

Moon – The place where most of the research and development takes place in Cal’s Soul Space. The Moon’s topside is a large area for the children to grow and enjoy themselves. Beneath the surface, however, is the Rotunda of Holding, and a large laboratory where Minya and the Bobs work.

Soul Stone – A highly refined Beast Core that is capable of containing a human soul.

Surtur – Dawn’s first chosen. A Lamia. She was granted a weapon made by Dawn, and uses it to lead her tribe to ever greater heights of prosperity. Even if her tribe keeps incorporating more and more races.

Switch – A village Elder of the Salt Village in the Fringe region. She croaks rather than speaks. Though that’s only if she speaks. Usually she complains. Loudly, and in plenty. If forced to interact with Switch, consider stuffing one’s ears with beeswax.

Tank – An adventurer archetype that is built to defend his team from the worst of the attacks that come their way. Heavily armored and usually carrying a large shield, these powerful people are needed if a group plans on surviving more than one attack.

Tibbins – An Acolyte in the Choir. He has a deep passion for all things culinary, and possesses a truly unique expression. He means well, but there’s something about his poor luck that keeps getting him in someone’s firing line. Sweet, loves to cook, and loyal to a fault. Tibbins is just in the wrong place at the wrong time. His voice tends to tremble when he is uncertain.

Tom – Former exiled Northman. Friend of Dale, and a general smashing success with his hammer: ‘Thud.’

Vizier Amon – A big bad. Direct hand to the Mistress, the Queen and Regent in charge of the Ziggurat. Things will get better before they get worse. Unless maybe one can pull the strings of a few favors. Sang with serpentine tongue. His time as grand vizier was short, becoming more nope than rope.

Vol – A chosen one of Artorian who prefers his beastly Teslasaur form. He may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but certainly has the speed and chompers of an apex predator.

Wuxius – Son of the Fringe and one of Artorian’s five grandchildren.

Wagner – Hel’s premier goose of spite, gifted with the best pipes known to Eternium. Beware your ankles in his presence, they are prime targets for his rage-filled bites.

Yuki – A lady of snow and ice. Artorian’s third chosen, gifted with an unaccepted blessing. Her cold countenance and sleety demeanor reflect her current perspective of the world.

Yvessa – An Elven name that means: ‘To bloom out of great drought.’ She is a Choir Cleric going up the ranks, and holds incredible promise. A girl of destiny. A demon-lord with a spoon. A caretaker who gains wisdom beyond her years from the kind of abyss she has to deal with. Her voice gains energy as she ages, as does her spirit.

Zelia – First chosen of Artorian, gifted with the Blessing of Argent. She is the mind of the Fringe Teleportation core, given life anew. A passionate artist, secretary, and seamstress. She is the sole peak of her spider family. Zelia is able to tap into her Dreamer’s abilities and memories, and uses her Teleportation gifts with uncanny skill and efficiency. She grows to deeply care for her Dreamer beyond the constraints of what being a c
hosen forces, and has decided for herself to stick around. Zelia has multiple forms, including fully human, fully spider, drider (half and half), and a state of flux.

Ziggurat – Both the name of a region, and a large building central to it. Ziggurat is the current raider stronghold where all their activities are coordinated from. The hierarchies here are simple and bloody, but the true purpose of the place is to serve as a staging area for necromancer needs.
