The cracking sound from rushing footsteps interrupted her thoughts while she stood to face the danger, though deep within she didn’t care about any imminent danger. Her heart was in more danger than anyone could imagine. The breezing silence encompassed the place once more as she sat beside the house burying her mind into the garden, whose leaves deflected the moon’s image.
An air of desire rose in her and her heart began to beat ever so faster; there was only one explanation for that. Adam was somewhere close; he was the only one with the ability to make her heart palpitate to such extent. How could that be? She wondered while her eyes searched the woods. She was just being paranoid, for all she could imagine he will be making sweet love to Paula. Her heart sunk in pain at the thought of Adam making out with Paula. That magical touch she loved so much will no longer be a part of her.
Tears dribbled down her jawbone as she spun to unmask the danger that had been hovering about the courtyard. He stood with arms widespread, seeing her devastation. He would have sworn that she didn’t want him but the tears in her eyes gave him the assurance that he hadn’t lost her completely.
“Adam, she bleated tearfully and threw her arms tightly around him, while they kissed each other passionately in mild sobs that traveled with the distant wind.
“I thought I’ll never see you again”. She managed under a dying breath while her hands grabbed his beefy arms which crouched around him like a baby in her mother’s arms. She reached out for his bearded chin with shaking hands, looking one more time into his eyes, to ascertain that it was not a dream.
“I’ll never leave you Katty” He said, her heart melted at the echoes of his words he always knew the right words to say to get her out of a terrible mood.
“I miss you” He whispered with a gentle stroke of my ear that oozed wet liquid down her tight pant. His hands searched her bra to get a hold of her boobs while she wriggled with slight moans of ecstasy.
“I miss you too Adam.” She added in a soft sob. They wrestle in a fit of passion and rested in a thin mesh of grass to contain the passion they’d inspired. They ate each other’s lips in stiffened breaths while they somersaulted into circles to entertain feeling they desired.
She spread her legs wide open while she searched the right button to tear his zip open with a trembling hand. He ate from her creamy chest right to her pussy while she let out slight moans of ecstasy. She pinned her grip on his huge cock as he ate of her fountain of youth, muffling in electric circles.
He dived at an impulse, fitting the electric rod into her little juicy paradise while they both let out heavy moans in appreciation of such a heavenly moment. He maintained a steady rhythm that degenerated into an earthquake of passion.
“Hmmm…hmmm” He moaned buried within her breasts at the height of a desire he’d craved for. He looked deep in her eyes; her desire to devour him was eminent. They’d both missed each other and seeing that it could probably be the last time he’ll have her in his arms tore her heart apart.
They lay on their backs, facing the moon, to appreciate the beauty in creation. They rolled towards each other, with expressed smiles, thinking how beautiful their little romance had been. Silence took absolute control as the moon imposed its brilliance on the two hearts that beat close to each other.
“So you didn’t get engaged?” Kate asked in a jaunty smile, she hadn’t been to the party, seeing him at her house that night only made her think he’d chose her over Paula.
“Actually, I sneaked out of the hotel.” He answered, somewhat embarrassed by her assertion. He couldn’t dare to break the engagement. Paula’s family had the key to unlocking all his family’s problems.
“You did what; you mean you are still with Paula? She stormed angrily.
“Yes baby…I came to see you because I missed you.” He insisted stunned by her reaction.
“What was I thinking?” She mumbled in bleating sobs “I’ve been such a fool.” She added. “Why in heavens name did I ever think you’ll choose me?” She stamped her feet in utter frustration. Her loud wails interrupted Emily’s sleep as she shook with fright afraid of what danger might have befallen her daughter.
“Katty, I love you, I’m sorry…” He begged while she cried and pushed him away in a punching fist.
“I hate you…” She cursed, shutting the door to his face.
Tears trickled down his cheeks while he sought to find his way to the hotel wearing a sad face.
“Honey, come here” her mother cradled her in in her arms. She felt her pain more than she could imagine. She’d overheard them arguing but she wanted them to sort out their issues without any form of interruption. She was grateful for Jack’s absence at home. He couldn’t stand the sight of his daughter hurting
“Mom it hurts so much”. Kate cried out with slimy juice that leaked out of her nostrils.
“It’s okay honey, don’t resist it, let the pain consume you.” She stroke her hair mildly until her gentle sobs faded to mild snores
Chapter 7
Living in the city was robustly challenging, but Emily had to condone with the odds of her destiny. She saw every tiny bit of herself in Kate and she felt every ounce of pain that kept her enclosed in her room for days. She’d told Jack that she was having some health concerns and her father had exhibited utmost affection.
She’d met Jack during one of her several travels to see her aunt in Ponte Lambro district. His beady green eyes met hers at a vertical angle while she was squashed between two boys in the Oriental Express. The train drove at unimaginable speed and she’d occupied a cheaper section of the train. The expansive transporter was separated into compartments and from where he sat, he looked more comfortable than she was, between two jerks who were bent on starting up a conversation with her simultaneously.
Emily and Jack both shared a gratifying smile in appreciation of meeting one another for the very first time. His blonde bald face emitted the radiance worthy of a lord, but what she didn’t understand was why he’d decided to board the train instead of flying to wherever he was going. Her curiosity was eminent in the momentary smiles she’d emitted stealing occasional gazes that he easily deduced that they could build some sort of love nest.
The wearisome noise of the hungry and untamed passengers stirred absolute but controlled chaos that sent some of the passengers to a short nap. Emily brushed her forehead to get rid of the moisture that had formed a huge mass, blinding her view. He’d been watching her while she slept and alas played a simple smile when she caught his admiring stares. The flowing crowd diverged into several axes while Emily cradled at a side, hiding from the mesmerizing flames of the sun. She’d desired for him to say a word or two to her and as fate had it, he walked towards her though in retarded steps with a smile that captivated her soul.
He was fascinating and his gold wrist watch was of a legendary trademark. His appearance spelt riches, though his mundane behavior was what beat my imagination. He was also visiting someone, perhaps a distant relative.
“I’m Jack Winstone.” he said extending a hand towards her with expectant eyes while she blushed as their hands touched. An electric wave encompassed them though they pretended to ignore the ignition. The spark of that faithful moment had earned them a lifetime of a sweet and infallible romance.
They’d inspired an attraction and Jack was willing to go down the world’s roughest road on her behalf. Their love tale like any other was without travails. Jack’s family had shunned him out of their lives if he ever made the mistake of settling for a gold-digger as they’d referred to her. All her life, Emily felt the cold of the streets, but Jack had given her a reason to live again. He was the true definition of solace as he defended her from his parents’ harsh and condescending repulsiveness. Unfortunately his love for her had marked a huge vent between him and his family. His father had stripped him of every source of income that was ever a part of the family’s investments. Jack had stayed true to her in all the years despite the desolate conditions they lived i
n.
Perhaps love always came with a huge price, her daughter had to face whatever life had in store for her. It was often said that people are masters of their fate, but the matters of the heart where perhaps what defined how the future had to look like.
The prime minister had made recommendations on the future candidates that were probable for the post of the governorship. Stewart couldn’t help but make merry with his entire family.
“You are now looking at the next governor of the district.” He added in a loud and ambiguous tone that echoed while the others raised their wine glasses to the air. It was an expensive Chinese wine that he had in stock for several months.
“Cheers! To the next governor!” He announced with an expressive smile, while the colliding glasses made a crack sound which died in the drawn excitement of every face that cradled in the gigantic sitting room. The painting of Leonardo da Vinci was an ancient and occupied a large portion of the wall, emitting a historical touch to the mansion which seemed to be a multi-billion investment. The carved sculptures of a lion and its curb, was by far breathtaking, not mentioning the sky like swimming pool that emitted mesmerizing bubbles.
“I feel so proud at how much you have accomplished my friend.” Mac Kingsley motioned a hand to the expansive courtyard with a glass of wine clenched to his right fist. His neatly decorated suit matched his low beard. He occasionally appeared sober, though his calmness was often masked in a creepy gaze. He was happy that he was getting back to his feet. The engagement between Paula and Adam was the springboard of the glories he’d experienced in such a short time.
Stewart’s connections had earned him a million dollar contract, for the supply of coffee to the Midlands. He’d revived the farm with fertilizers and deployed efficient labor in less than no time, with huge paychecks to surmount the low production. He’d cleared part of his debts with the bank, thanks to a newline of jewelry production he’d been introduced to by his good friend and acolyte-Stewart.
They stood at his usual spot on the porch and crouched with smiles of accomplishments as gods over the other family members that had divided into semi factions of peculiar interests. Victoria and Katherine stole time to explore the fashion magazines Paula had brought home. Victoria was fashion forward and she’d always made sure she matched her outfit with accessories from the Elegance magazine. Their loud chuckles meddled with the cold war that Paula had started in her usual naughtiness with Adam.
“Your mind seems out of your mind.” She began in her usual sarcasm, bringing Adam who’d been out of the earth back to himself.
“Yeah, what a perfect way to get my attention” Adam remarked in absolute nonchalance adjusting his tight jeans that carved out his masculine structure to her admiration.
“I just want to be sure that your body and soul is here, because I need the entire package.” She winced in disdain, trying very much to dismiss any form of arrogance he was trying to entertain. “Just so you know I wouldn’t know how to defend you in case you slipped into the pool. So get your act straight and focus” She played a tempting smile and ignoring the “I really don’t care” expression he’d worn over the past week.
“Whatever!” Adam gasped with twisted brows that expressed his frustration on his trail. He’d occasionally jumped out of his body. The thought of Kate calling him a monster for having slept with her on his engagement night, haunted him like a deadly witch. He had been frustrated with himself and he needed to feel alive again. He’d gone to her because only she had the medication for his arching soul.
Paula paced towards a narrow bend, taking the call that had rang momentarily while she tried to get away from Adam’s watch. Perhaps she’d initiated a moment of turmoil just to get away from the infuriated Adam. She’d developed the habit of engaging in long calls especially late in the night and she seemed to enjoy talking to whomever it was she’d engaged with in recent time. She laughed haughtily over the phone while Adam moved into the house to join the rest of the family chattering happily.
Chapter 8
Traveling out to the nearest suburban area to get a job had yielded fruits. Mr. Taylor was a widowed blonde in his late eighties and his children had robustly refuted the idea of taking their father to the old people’s homes. Her encounter with the old man at the bus station had driven her to the kind adventure of helping him to his domicile located far from the main town.
“Your kindness is legendary my child.” Taylor managed under a dying voice as Kate helped him into the neat path that exposed his marble apartment to the small street that led to the main road. His blue sweat shirt, gave him a slightly boyish look and his smile was as vibrant as the wise words that he spoke.
He clung to the silvery-rod that acted as a third leg, as he’d refused to take Kate’s hand to help him ease his movement. She’d admired the sort of confidence and optimism that he’d displayed even at such an old age.
“I feel honored to be of help sir,” she added, “besides my father will be your age in fifteen years.” She added in mild chuckles that induced an elating smile on his part.
“That’s a long time my child.” Taylor continued in a maintained pace, carrying himself as fast as possible to seat his weary ass to the nearest couch possible. “Youth is splendid” He whispered, with a thin smile that spread across his face, perhaps in a hidden agenda which he definitely was going to discuss.
“Fifteen years is a lot of time to make amends” His eyes turned pale while she deduced that he was slightly sensitive to the subject about youth and the passage of time.
“How will you feel if someone were to give you another lifetime of youth?” Her curiosity got the better part of her. She’d sought to entertain the sort of discussion that will get her mind off Adam and her troubles.
“Maybe I could go back in time and make all my wrongs right.” He remarked cracking the door open while she trailed impatiently behind him excited to get a glimpse of the small house that smelt glamour from the flower beds and the grey SUV that nestled in the box garage.
The house was spiced with German décor and African designs. A long L shaped couch stood at the center of the parlor living ample space while the silky drapes from the down-ceiling window allowed fresh air that graced the entire room.
“One journey of an antagonizing life time is enough to put one through sufficient misery.” He spoke fixing his butt on the leathery chair that stood facing the TV. His words wounded her heart and she felt there was more about his loneliness that he’d sought to conceal. A huge glass frame bore the picture of a beautiful black woman she’d had also seen in a similar picture that bore her and Taylor, tilting heads together.
The smile from his picture perhaps had faded with the passing of time, though she’d nursed the thought that her absence was the reason why his words came with an air of lamentation. He’d spoke heartily about his desire to get help for the house. Also he’d been very lonely since his son as he’d told Kate was a researcher in the city. He came home during weekends but his busy schedules always got in the way.
Kate had accepted his offer as abruptly as she realized she needed a good job with a befitting pay. She will take care of the dude and raise some money to enroll in a school. The pay was handsome plus she wanted to impact on the life of someone. Taylor looked like a man who needed all the help and attention she could offer, provided his son didn’t turn out to be one of the rich bullies.
She needed a distraction from her delusion and if working for Taylor could induce a little sense of worth within her, she will give a try. She wanted to do something good for somebody. Her father was fast losing his strength and being their only child, had challenged her to her marrow. It was about time she gave up on love and faced the world squarely. She needed a new life and she was going to use the opportunity fate had sent her way, to climb to the top.
Jack had sustained a minor injury from the construction site and he’d skipped work for days. The doctor’s report forced a mass of tears down his cheeks. He suffered from ac
cumulated stress and fatigue. His health had to be under medical surveillance to ensure he didn’t run into any form of health deterioration. His working hours had been reduced and replaced with resting hours. Kate had decided to take care of her parents as her father’s well-being was of prime concern.
Somehow Karen had managed to maneuver her way once more with Kate as they waited at the Le chap restaurant in their neighborhood. Kate was tired from the day’s job but she’d sought to stop for some steak when Karen asked to accompany her. She shrugged in slight disapproval but Karen insisted in a sober manner that indicated how much she’d missed the times they spent together.
They sipped the pineapple juice discretely with inspective eyes that lacked what to say to each other. Kate had a lot on her mind and she’d whished for absolute solitude but Karen had been on her trail against her desire. She didn’t have anything to say to her as her mind traveled back and to Taylor. He’d spoke so much about his son and she’d wished she had the chance to meet him. She was in a quandary and she needed a desperate measure to combat the pain that continually lingered in her heart. She was the perfect predator for any man who will show interest in her. She’d been on a couple of dates but all of them boiled down to a single word-sex. She needed someone who could help get rid of the pain Adam had caused her. It took more than some naughty sex, to erase such infallible memories they’d built.
“What about your new job?” Karen asked breaking the silence with her lips stuck to the straw; while she sipped uncontrollably from the small can that lay on one end of the circular table with two matching chairs. “Your mom told me about it, I was at your place severally to see you.” She continued, noticing the pain in her pretentious half smile that dismissed any concerns of hurt that Karen could dwell on. The restaurant served vegan recipes, steak and other French fries. The staff was mostly French and the beautiful hostesses acted their very best with regards to the customer’s needs. It was a rather sophisticated touch, so to speak of such a small restaurant, located in that part of the country.
