Misty dropped her head and closed her eyes. “Sometimes Vince,” she quietly said.
They just sat there.
“Then what happened?” asked the therapists.
“After that they got up and got dressed. They left I came out from hiding. When I saw them disappear, I ran back to my bunk house and covered my head. I was scared he would find out I was there. In the morning I didn’t see her. But I saw him and he scared me.
The next day I saw her. She came up to me and sat next to me. She said I done a good job on my kite. She looked right at me and said, If I knew what was best for me forget I saw anything. I could tell she was scared. I nodded my head and she smiled. Just then he came up. He pulled her to her feet I heard him say, Met me and don’t make me wait. You know what happens when you make me wait. She nodded her head. She looked at me again and said. “You done a great job on that kite Vince,” and she smiled again. She turned and left.
He walked up to me and said ‘you did do a good job on that kite. But I think you have to fix this.’ I said, fix what? He took his hand and broke it. And he looked at me and said, ‘that,’ and walked away. I didn’t know if he knew or not but I was scared.” Vince just sat there everything he saw came back and it chilled him.
“How was she murdered Vince?” Misty asked.
“She was strangled,” he choked out. Misty gasps.
“Do you remember their names?” the therapists asked
Vince thought. “It’s been over 12 years now I can’t remember, wait, Tina, I think her name was Tina,” he said.
They finally realized these memories were haunting Vince. And somewhere in his mind he thought loving Misty changed him. And it was her fault he fell in love with her. And he was upset and embarrassed that no other woman could satisfy him. So he had to punish her for that. He saw, what he thought, love was supposed to be like. And he acted out on it in his subconscious. Now they knew the problem but now they had to deal with it.
CHAPTER 10
Misty wanted to help Vince. She had been with him through it all. It was her that caused this. She did blame herself because of her stupid fantasy. But yet if it wasn’t for her Vince’s heart could have given out on him. And he was so young.
Misty was curious about this murder. So she decided to do research on it. And she was horrified at what she found. The girl was actually raped and murdered. Vince probably didn’t know that. She looked at the girl’s photo and she looked similar to herself. She looked at her boyfriend’s photo and he spooked her. The killer was never found. But the boyfriend was always a suspect in the case. She sat there and thought what a terrible thing it must have been for Vince, at such a young age to watch those things happen. She felt so bad. And he carried those things hidden deep with in him. She wanted more than anything now to help him. She wanted to help him get over it. She knew it was going to be tough for both of them. But she did love him.
More and more Vince started getting better. It was when he got jealous they had problems. But they both worked through things. Misty wasn’t scared anymore. She knew what to do and how to handle things. Vince felt terrible though. Misty would calm him down before he would do anything. They took regular trips to the therapists. And Misty insisted Vince still went and got test done on his heart. She wasn’t leaving anything to chance. Vince realized how much she must really love him. She was runny herself ragged trying to help him and get him well. She was doing research on surpassed memories and the effect they could have on people. She was working a lot of over time. But yet she always made time for him. She never stopped she was always on the go.
Vince found himself falling in love with her more and more every day. It pained him to think of the things he done to her and some of the things he still does. And she never complained she would smile and say, One day this won’t happen. She would kiss him then love him with great passion. He wanted to get well. He wanted to give her everything.
It seemed like Vince was getting well. Misty would do things to upset him on purpose. Just to see how he would react and he handled things fine. She pushed him a little here and there. She was happy he was happy. It’s been awhile since Vince had a blackout. But Misty was always cautious.
Vince and Misty went out one weekend. She finally had a Saturday off. And Vince wanted to take her out someplace special. They were having a good time when Vince noticed a guy staring. He had a magazine in his hand. Misty felt Vince stiffen and she looked at him. She looked at was he was looking at and said. “You know that’s not me right Vince?”
“Yes I know, but they don’t,” and he looked at her.
Misty stood in front of Vince to block his view from the guy and said. “You got the real thing right here Vince.” And she kissed him.
Vince smiled. “Yes your right.” He kissed her back.
“Let’s go it’s getting late.” Misty said.
They left and went home. Misty was in a playful, loving mood and so was Vince. But Misty’s words kept going through his mind for some reason, you got the real thing. He couldn’t shake it. He tried but couldn’t. As he loved her the words kept going over and over in his mind. He started getting aggressive.
“What did you mean,” he said as he kissed her.
Misty was breathing hard she couldn’t think. “Mean what?” she caught her breath.
Vince started getting more aggressive. “Vince stop,” Misty got out.
“Tell me!” he snapped at Misty.
Misty looked at him. He changed so fast, she didn’t have time to respond. He had her pinned down and she never was expecting it.
“Tell you what Vince?” she questioned she was breathing so hard.
“What you meant. I have the real thing,” he said looking at her.
Misty didn’t know what he was talking about at first then it came to her. “You have me and not a picture,” she quickly said.
“I don’t believe you,” he growled.
His lips covered hers. Misty started to struggle. He took his hands and put them around her throat. He started to choke her. She grabbed his hands trying to pry them off.
“Vince you’re choking me, you’re choking me…Vince…” soon everything went black on Misty.
“Who’s choking you? Who is choking you? Misty, Misty!” a voice called her name.
Misty sits up gasping for air. She looks around. She has tears in her eyes. She is in panic.
“Who is choking you Misty?” her sister says.
Misty looks around, she is home at her parents in her bed. “He is choking me,” she gasps
“Who?” her sister says again.
Misty thinks. “I can’t remember his name. He was my…” she stops and looks at Kimmy.
“He was your what Misty?” Kimmy says.
Misty jumps up runs to her closet pulls out the dress. “Take it get rid of it,” Misty starts to cry.
“Misty what is wrong?” Kimmy goes and gets her brings her back to the bed and sets her down. Misty is all freaked out. “Tell me what’s wrong?” Kimmy looked and sounded really worried about Misty.
Misty looks at Kimmy tears running down her face, “It was a dream all a dream,” she cried.
“More of nightmare Misty, tell me,” Kimmy said.
“I bought this dress so when the man of my dreams, my fantasy man, saw me in it. He would swoop me away and we would have one night of nothing but lustful passion. It would be the most incredible experience of my life.” She looked at Kimmy.
Kimmy chuckled. “You Misty?”
“Yes me Kimmy”
“Okay, but what does that have to do with your nightmare?”
“Last night at that party I saw a guy. I wanted to fulfill my fantasy with.” Misty looked down
“And?” Kimmy said
“And when you didn’t show I got nervous and left. But I thought tonight I would put on this dress and try to find him again. I knew you and Mark was going away so you wouldn’t be around.” Misty looked at Kimmy.
“Well Mar
k and I aren’t going now,” and Kimmy sighed.
“Why not?”
“Long story, now back to you Misty.” Kimmy looked at her.
“I must have been feeling really guilty about what I was going to do, ashamed or something. I don’t know but must have dreamt it all but it seemed so real.” She cried.
“Well tell me what happened Misty?”
“Well I went back and I did find him and it was incredible. I never thought I would see him again. But come to find out he was one of Marks friends.” She looked at Kimmy again.
“What did he look like?”
Misty took a deep breath. “well…” she smiled. “His hair was dark, he had these eyes that seem to look deep into my soul. He was so strong, muscular, you know. Like he could weight bench a truck. And his voice…” she took in another deep breath, “it was low and seductive. It hypnotized me at times.” She just sat there thinking of it.
“I don’t think Mark has a friend like that Misty.”
“That’s what I thought to.” Misty shook her head.
“So what happened?” Kimmy questioned.
“Well…” Misty went on and told her what happened and Kimmy was shocked.
“Wow Misty some dream and fantasy you got there.”
“Tell me about it Kimmy. But at the end he was choking me trying to kill me.” She started to tear as she put her hands to her throat.
“It was only a dream Misty. And you have to stop thinking about what people are going to think all the time. You have to have some fun and live a little. Mark and I are going to that party tonight. Why don’t you come with us?” Kimmy looked at her.
“No, no not after that dream Kimmy.”
“Listen, don’t wear the dress, the man you describe I don’t think Mark has a friend like that. You will be with us. There is nothing to be scared of Misty. I promise I won’t leave your side. And with fantasies like you have, you can keep them in your head,” and Kimmy chuckled.
It took some talking but Misty finally agreed to go. They turned out the light Kimmy went back to sleep. But Misty had a hard time falling back to sleep.
CHAPTER 11
It was time for the party and Misty was nervous. She wore a button down shirt tucked in and blue jeans.
“Can’t you find something better than that Misty?”
“Yes but I won’t.” Misty replied. Kimmy just shook her head.
They left and went to the party. They met Mark there. They walked in and Misty was like a frozen statue. As she scooped out the room she didn’t see the guy she saw yesterday the man in her dream
“Loosen up Misty come on,” Kimmy said.
“I am going to get us something to drink.” Mark said and he left the girls.
The next thing you know Kimmy saw Misty turn white as a ghost. “That’s him,” and she pointed
Kimmy turned and looked. She saw Mark talking to a guy she forgot all about him. He has been gone for a while and she only met him a few times.
“Misty I forgot about him. He has been away for a while and just got back a couple days ago. You won’t have to worry about him. He probably won’t even notice you. I hear he has special taste in woman.” She looked at her sister. Misty looked freaked out they were walking towards them.
“They’re coming this way Kimmy.” Misty was getting all nervous.
“Misty listen, he won’t even notice you. I am telling you.” Kimmy said trying to calm her.
“Hey Kimmy you remember Vince?” Mark said. Misty gasps.
“Yes I remember. It’s been a long time.” Kimmy said and smiled.
“Kimmy,” Vince replied and nodded.
“This is Misty, Kimmys sister,” Mark said.
Misty had her head turned. She was looking out over the crowd of people. “Hello,” she said.
Vince looked Misty up and down. “Misty,” he said then continued. “Well I have been gone for a while need to catch up with a few people. Nice seeing you again Kimmy. Nice meeting you Misty,” he said and he left. Misty let out her breath she almost passed out.
“See Misty he didn’t even notice,” Kimmy looked at her.
Mark looked at both of them. “Notice what?”
“Misty had a…” Kimmy started but Misty nudged her.
Mark laughed. “You saw him before Misty?” he questioned.
“Only for a second last night,” Misty quickly said.
“And only in her mind,” Kimmy quickly replied,
“I want to go home Kimmy.”
“What’s going on?” Mark said. He could tell Misty was nervous about something.
“Nothing,” Misty quickly said.
“Then why do you want to go home?”
“I don’t feel comfortable that’s all,” and Mark saw her glance at Vince.
“Don’t worry about him. Many want, but few get,” Mark laughed.
Misty just rolled her eyes. “Quit just quit. I am going home.”
“Suit yourself, old maid.” Kimmy replied.
“Funny, funny,” Misty replied. She turned and left. She got to the car then she heard
“Misty?” She turned around slowly and it was Vince. She almost had a heart attack.
“Leaving so soon?”
Misty could hardly speak. “Um yeah not much of a party person,” she let out a nervous laugh. She saw top of a scar on his chest. And she started to freak out even more.
“To bad I would like to get to know you better,” he smiled and walked up closer.
Misty backed up until she hit the car. “Maybe another time,” she quickly said and got in.
“Another time then,” he smiled. Remembering her from last night and the way she looked. He wanted to get to no her. He asked around for her name but no one really knew. When he saw her come in tonight, his heart started to race. She was so beautiful. He asked Mark to introduce them. Mark was more than glad to. And now she is running away.
Misty started the car and left. Her heart was pounding so fast it almost came out her chest. When she got home the first thing she done was threw that dress away. She wanted nothing to do with her fantasy or with Vince. When Kimmy got home first thing she done was woke up Misty.
“You won’t believe it Misty you won’t believe it.” She sounded excited.
“Believe what Kimmy,” Misty said sleepily.
“Vince, he was asking about you!” Kimmy looked at her.
Misty’s jaw dropped. “I, I want nothing to do with him,” she looked at Kimmy.
“Come on Misty he is every girls dream.”
“In my dream he tried to kill me!” Misty cried.
“Come on you know what I mean Misty.” Kimmy looked at her.
“I know exactly what you mean Kimmy. And I dreamt that for a reason. Stay away from him or you will get hurt. And I tend to do that. So leave me alone Kimmy.” Misty started getting upset with Kimmy.
“Well he is coming over here tomorrow with Mark to see you.” Kimmy looked at her.
Misty gasps. “How could you Kimmy! How could you after what I told you and the dream I had! How could you do this to me!” she shouted.
The two girls started to argue and they woke up their parents. Soon everyone was awake and did they get into trouble. Misty’s parents told her it was time she found her own place. She had a good job now and they knew she had plenty saved up for one.
Misty was going crazy. Her dream was happening but only in different ways. Misty started looking for places but they either were too big or too far out. She was getting discussed. But she kept looking. She still was working a lot and Kimmy would tell her Vince asked about her a couple of times. But Misty acted like she didn’t care. But when she saw him her heart started to flutter. She would see him on the street or with Mark but she never stopped to say anything. Mark told Kimmy that Misty was acting stuck up and wanted to know what her problem was. Kimmy said she would talk to her.
Kimmy told Mark Misty was sorry. She didn’t mean to act stuck up, she just had a lot on her mind.
So to make things up to prove Misty wasn’t stuck up Kimmy talked Misty into going to another party. Misty wore button down shirt and jeans. Kimmy just shook her head. “Can’t you find something better than that?”
“Want me to go or not?” Misty snapped.
“Okay, okay Misty suit yourself.”
They got to the party and Misty relaxed a little when she didn’t see Vince. He was there. He was outside. He saw Misty and he watched her. She didn’t look too happy. She didn’t seem like she was having fun. He watched her step out the back to get some fresh air and he went to find her. He saw her leaning up against the corner of the building.
He walked up to her quietly. “Misty,” he said softly.
She jumped when she saw him. She got all flushed. “Vince,” she looked at the ground.
“Do I make you nervous?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
Misty let out a nervous laugh. “If you only knew.”
“Knew what?”
“Nothing, its nothing.”
“Tell me.” He stepped closer. He took a deep breath, her sent was intoxicating.
Misty had to think of something fast. “I was told you had special taste in woman. And find it odd you are talking to me. That’s all.”
Vince laughed. “I do have a special taste and how do you know you’re not it?” he now was standing right in front of her.
Misty started to get flushed. That voice, those eyes she started feeling warm all over. And he was standing so close. She stepped back into the shadows. Vince closed the gap and kissed her. His kiss was incredible. Before she knew it they were behind the building.
