“Fine. I think Donte is cheating on me,” she blurted out.
Both Jasmine and Kaylen’s eyes opened wide. Mariah and Donte always kept their problems at home and it was very rare to know that they were going through something. It was sad to even think that Donte would hurt Mariah in that way. Mariah has been having an eerie feeling about Donte ever since they came back from Cabo. Donte denied every accusation Mariah accused him of but her woman intuition told her something different.
“You lying,” Kaylen said.
“No I’m not. When we was in Cabo some bitch was blowing up his phone then we got into this big ass argument over it. I don’t see how bitches even have his number to begin with. I really thought that he changed but I guess not.”
“He got us fucked up!” Jasmine said standing up getting ready to curse Donte out but Mariah pulled her back down.
“Chill out,” Mariah said.
“I just can’t see him cheating on you Mariah. If that’s the case brother or not he’s dumb as fuck!” Kaylen said.
“I’m not sure but I haven’t been feeling him lately. I’m damn near thirty and I feel like I’m wasting my time. We’ve been together for years, I held his ass down, I have his daughter, and still yet it’s not like he can fully commit to me. We aren’t going to ever get married,” Mariah said shaking her head.
“Don’t say that girl. It could be nothing and you might just be tripping,” Kaylen tried to defend her brother.
“If it is something you know I don’t mind fucking shit up for my sis,” Jasmine said.
Chapter 14
Mariah couldn’t go to sleep because Donte wasn’t home and it was going on two in the morning. One thing about Mariah she will never nag Donte, she’ll just leave him quietly with his guilt. She had called Jasmine earlier to check to see if Donte was at her house but he wasn’t. She made the same phone call to Kaylen and he wasn’t there either. His phone went straight to voicemail earlier and she didn’t bother to call again.
A tear rolled down her cheek as she tried to fight back the other tears. She didn’t want to be crying over him. She was too grown to be dealing with these games. She knew the kind of life Donte lived before they got together. Never once did she try to change him he did that on his own because he wanted to do it.
Here she was sitting in this big ass house but at the same time it was so empty. She hasn’t been happy ever since they came back from Cabo. The voice of the woman who called Donte’s phone was embedded in her mind and she’ll never forget it. She knew for sure that Donte was out being shady again but what could she do about it? She was a full time mom. She didn’t work anymore and all she did was take care of the house and Mila.
She heard the alarm disarm in the midst of her thoughts. She didn’t move an inch she just sat in the same position she has been in for the last two hours. She heard him coming up the stairs and when he entered in the room he didn’t even look at her. She continued to look at him to make sure that he saw how late she stayed up to see when he came home.
“Wassup?” Donte finally said.
Mariah didn’t utter a word. He shrugged his shoulders and undressed from out of his clothes. He plugged his phone on the charger and sat it on the nightstand. He went into the bathroom to take a shower before he got in bed. Mariah felt like she was slowly losing all of her faith inside. His phone vibrated with a text this late. Mariah didn’t even have the strength to look at his phone to see who it was texting him. They say don’t go searching for something you don’t want to find.
When Donte came out of the bathroom he turned off the lights and jumped into bed right next to Mariah. She turned her back to him and silently cried herself to sleep. Something had to give. She couldn’t keep living her life like this.
Chapter 15
A week went by so fast for Kaylen and Ice. They had one hell of a week. Since they were in a relationship now they were opening up to each other on new levels. They still had a lot more to learn about each other. Whenever Ice had to go back home Kaylen hated it. Ice took off a week something he never did before when it came to his money.
“Why you always gotta do that?” Ice asked as Kaylen whined all morning.
“I don’t want you to go,” she pouted.
“You know I can’t--”
“You can’t stay blah blah blah I know,” she flopped down on the bed and grabbed the remote to watch T.V.
Ice waved her off because if it were left to Kaylen she would move him to L.A. with no questions asked. Ice thought about their living situation all the time. They were both on two opposite sides of California. He couldn’t see himself living in L.A. and Kaylen couldn’t see herself living in Oakland. Ice packed up his suitcase because his plane was leaving tonight. He zipped it up and placed it by the door and got on the bed with her. He got on top of her and she tried to play mad.
“Why you gotta be mad?” he asked.
“Is it so bad of me wanting you to stay?”
“It’s not but you know I have business to handle.”
“If you didn’t would you be here with me?”
“You know I would,” he kissed her.
Ice had to put her in a good mood before he left so he made sweet love to her once again. He had to get another taste for the road. He didn’t know when he was coming back so he had to make much of it.

Kaylen drove home sad because Ice was gone. It was a struggle to make their relationship work. They really were really in a long distance relationship. She was even sadder knowing that Ice didn’t know when he would back.
When she got back home all she did was clean up and think. She didn’t like being alone most of the time because she was left to face her truths. This time she thought about Ice and how much she loved him. She didn’t even think she was moving fast because they had chemistry since they met. She didn’t care what anyone said she was team Ice and she was riding for him.
She went into her room to call Kandi. She missed her best friend. She could use some of Kandi’s words at the moment. Kandi always came through every time when Kaylen needed to hear something even if it was the truth.
“Wassup boo?” Kandi said when she answered.
“Hey, bestie.”
“Did Ice leave yet?”
“Yes I just dropped him off.”
“I could tell because now you could talk on the phone.”
“You’re always coming at me so foul,” Kaylen laughed.
“I’m just saying that every time Ice is around you don’t answer your phone like you’re scared he’s gonna beat yo’ ass.”
“Not even! I just be up under him.”
“Girl ain’t nothing wrong with that.”
“I miss him already!” she whined.
“I bet you do so when is he coming back?”
“He says that he doesn’t know yet.”
“Then why don’t you take your ass over to him?” Kandi asked not seeing what the problem could be.
“I don’t know!”
“What do you mean you don’t know?”
“Going to Oakland means it’s just me and him.”
“Like how it’s suppose to be. Stop trying to find excuses.”
“Blah blah blah.”
“You’re so damn childish Kaylen.”
“I know I need to grow up soon,” she laughed.
Chapter 16
It’s been two weeks since Ice left from L.A. Since then he has been putting in work on his side of town. He was pulling in money left and right. He needed to make sure that he made his quota every week and he was exceeding beyond that. Since he linked up with Jared and Donte business has never been better.
“Got the game from them old niggas, you gotta know where I’m from to get to know a nigga, I’m still glad I smoke weed, hiding from the police,” Ice rapped along with Future.
Ice was feeling himself. He was on top of the world. He didn’t have a care in the world other than his money. He was doing what he always wanted do.
He knew that because business was booming fast he wouldn’t stop hustling any time soon. He also knew the part of the game where he had to pull out before it’s too late.
Oakland streets were live today as Ice drove through his hood. He’s never seen Oakland so live before. He was on his way back to his trap before he called Jared and Donte. He had business that needed them to fly out to Oakland. When he pulled up to his trap he walked straight in checking niggas. Everyone knew Ice was ruthless so they didn’t want to get on his bad side.
“Fuck is y’all jumping for? Y’all niggas ain’t strapped?” Ice asked hemming them up on the wall.
“We are Ice,” someone said waving his gun around.
“Alright lil’ niggas. Make sure y’all keep my shit on lock. If we get hit up then that’s all of y’all lives,” he warned each and every one of them before he went to the back for privacy. Ice pulled out his phone to call Jared but he didn’t answer so he called Donte and he answered.
“What’s good?” Ice asked when Donte answered the phone.
“Man what’s good Ice?”
“I’m about to set up some shit for the weekend and I need y’all here this weekend no later than Friday.”
“I don’t even gotta ask no questions I’ll pass on the word,” Donte said knowing it meant more money for all of them.
“Aight.” Ice hung up and called Kaylen. He was trying to get her to come out for the weekend too.
“Hey baby I was just thinking about you,” Kaylen said when she answered.
“Wassup baby?”
“What are you doing?” she asked.
“Just calling to see if you could come down here this weekend?”
“I have to think about it.”
“What is there to think about? You can’t come see yo’ man cause I wanna see you.”
“I was just playing with you Ice I’ll be there,” she said even though she wasn’t playing.
Kaylen didn’t want to make him mad so she just agreed with him. She was actually very nervous to go see him. This would be the first time that she would see his personal life. She knew Oakland was where he his life was so that meant there was more to him to find out about.
After Kaylen hung up with him she went back to filling out her paperwork. She was filing papers for her business. She was in full boss lady mode. She had to wrap up things faster now since she was about to go see her man. He said for the weekend but she was going to go earlier and fly out tomorrow afternoon.
She didn’t want to drive so far to Jared’s house today but she had to since Jayla called her early in the morning and asked for her to come over. Kaylen has grown a close relationship to her nieces and nephews. She would do anything for them. All four of them have her wrapped around their little fingers. She locked up her office and left from work. With traffic it was almost a two hour drive and that irritated her more than anything. Before she reached Jared’s house she stopped along the way and ordered boxes of pizza for them.
When she finally got to the house she used her key to walk straight in. She heard the kids laughing from upstairs. She sat the pizza boxes on the island in the kitchen and went upstairs to find them. Everyone was in Jared and Jasmine’s room on their huge bed watching a movie on the projector.
“Aww you guys are so cute!” Kaylen said walking into the room.
“Auntie!” the kids said jumping off of the bed and rushing to hug her.
“Hey my loves,” she said hugging and kissing all of them.
“Auntie Kay can we go to the movies and the mall tomorrow?” Jayla asked.
“I won’t be here tomorrow baby but when I get back I can take you.”
“Can we go with you?” Lil’ Jay asked.
“Not this time,” she said.
“Come on auntie let’s go in my room,” Jayla said pulling Kaylen away all for herself.
“No get your butt back in here Jayla,” Jasmine said stopping her dead in her tracks.
“Yes mommy?” she said with a little attitude.
“You three go wash up for dinner, your auntie brought you guys pizza.”
“Okay,” they all said and marched out of the room.
“I swear the attitude that little girl has will get her ass popped,” Jasmine sighed.
“Hey don’t be so mean leave my baby alone!” Kaylen said defending Jayla. “What’s up though?”
“Wassup sis?” Jared said.
“You look happy Kaylen,” Jasmine said.
“I am.”
“Where are you going tomorrow?” Jared asked.
“I’m going to go see Ice tomorrow.”
“Tomorrow? He got me and Donte coming up there on Friday.”
“Wait is this a vacation that I don’t know about?” Jasmine asked.
“Right that’s what I’m trynna find out.”
“Naw we got some business to handle I don’t know why Kaylen going.”
“I am going because he’s my man thank you,” she said sarcastically.
“I wanna go,” Jasmine said.
“Yes please come because if they have business to handle when they come what am I going to be doing all by myself?”
“No you keeping yo’ ass at home,” Jared said.
“Boy bye if you’re going I am too,” Jasmine said smiling before she got up to go check on the kids.
“Can I talk to you for a minute?” Kaylen asked him.
“Yeah wassup?” she sat beside him.
“How do you feel about me and Ice?”
“I know he’s gonna take care of you like how Donte and I would so I’m not tripping off of him. Donte and I talked to him about you a while ago.”
“Wait so y’all are talking behind my back? What was the conversation about?”
“If it was for you to know then you would have been there.”
“You get on my nerves but I haven’t admitted it to him yet but I’m in love with him Jared.”
“He is too Kaylen.”
“How could you be so sure?” she asked not knowing why he was so sure about it.
“I’m a man I just know. It’s just the little shit I see when he’s around.”
“Do you think he’s the one for me?”
“He could be.”
Jared liked Ice and everything he stood for. Jared, Ice, and Donte were all one in the same. He could trust Ice with his life so he knew Kaylen was in good hands. He saw the big change in Kaylen since she’s been around Ice and even though he would never speak on it he was happy that she changed. She was happy and he knew it.
Chapter 17
Kaylen felt nervous and calm all at the same time. Her plane just landed and all she wanted was for the people in front of her to move the hell out of her way because they were moving too slow. Ice was somewhere waiting on her and she just wanted to quickly make her way over to him. She dragged her suitcase as she walked as fast as she could in the airport. She spotted Ice outside leaning up against his car. Ice looked up at the same time and they both smiled. She ran to him and placed kisses all over his face.
“What’s good baby? Damn you got a little thicker,” Ice said looking over her body.
“Can we please leave now I don’t want to waste a second before I have to leave.”
Ice agreed with her and placed her bags in the trunk before he drove off. Of course Kaylen was staying with him at his house and Jared and Donte were staying in a hotel near by. He didn’t want her brothers in the same house while he was breaking her back. It felt good to have Kaylen on his side of town for the first time. First he wanted to get her settled in and spend some alone time with her before he took her out and showed her around.
“You ready for your weekend?” Ice asked as they held hands as he drove.
“Yes I’m ready I just want to have a good time.”
“Don’t you always have a good time when you’re around me?”
“I always do,” she smiled.
Ice lived a little far from the airport so the drive was sort of long. W
hen they made it to his house he showed Kaylen around. She had to admit that Ice had great taste because his house was outrageous. She couldn’t wait any longer to feel him. His sex was so good that when she thought long and hard about him she could feel it all over again. Kaylen spread across his pool table and Ice’s face lit up. Kaylen was a handful and she was never boring. He knew that he could never be tired of her.
He tasted her sweet nectar, something he has been missing. It tasted exactly like how he remembered it to be. He loved the fact that she didn’t just sit there while he gave her head. She was very hands on and wasn’t boring. After Ice made her cum a few times before he took her upstairs and made love to her back to back.
Both Ice and Kaylen were sweaty as they went rounds in bed. She was completely satisfied. They both cuddled close to each other looking up at the ceiling fan listening to each other catch a breath. They were on cloud nine.
“I love you,” Ice said first. Kaylen looked up to him and smile.
“I love you too,” she said.
When Ice kissed her it sent chills down her body. Half of the time she didn’t know how to react. She always felt like a little horny virgin every time. He did things to her that made her swallow her own words on many occasions. She always thought that she was too hard and had such a big ego before she met Ice. Now he had her wide open and willing for anything.
“I’ma marry you one day Kaylen,” Ice said out loud but more so to himself.
Kaylen didn’t respond to him she just listened. She was imagining what it would be like to be his wife. She knew that when that day came their bond would be unbreakable if it wasn’t already. She was actually looking forward to it and having his kids. Being around Jasmine and Jared for long they made her want a happy marriage with a house on a hill filled with a football team of children.
Back in Los Angeles everything wasn’t so happy with Mariah and Donte. They were the complete opposite of Ice and Kaylen right now. Donte has been so distant that it made her sick to her stomach. She hated how much he was changing. Ever since he started to make new money he entertained new hoes.
