by Commando Cowboys Find Their Desire

Her pussy clenched tight around Payton’s cock, and she heard him shout out as his orgasm hit.

Slowly he let her legs slide to the shower floor. He bent his forehead against hers. “I don’t know what I did to deserve you, my love. But whatever it was, I’m a lucky, happy, and contented man.” He kissed her lips and stepped back.

Cody stuck his head inside the bathroom door. “The meal’s ready. You two get a move on. We have to keep up our strength to survive this honeymoon.”

Payton dried her with a warm towel, and she went on into the bedroom to dress. She was so happy. Payton and Cody had helped her learn to love and trust again. They’d brightened her world.

She could hardly wait to see what the future brought. Cody came back up the stairs and pulled her gently into his arms.

  “Are you all right?”

“Just thinking about how lucky I am and how much I love you and Payton.” Payton walked out of the bathroom and rubbed across her shoulders.

“Same here, honey, but I’m hungry. Let’s take this mutual admiration downstairs.”

Averil pulled away from them and went to the steps. “Men, ruled by their stomachs, and I won’t mention what other part of their anatomy.”

Laughing, her two husbands followed her downstairs and to wherever else she’d want to lead them in the future.

  Epilogue

Kira’s phone rang on the way back from the airport. “Hello.”

“Kira, this is Jack. Apparently one of the bowls of punch was poisoned. We have about twenty people in the emergency room. If the numbers get larger, we may need your help again.”

“Contact Dr. Rexford, too. It works best with my blood and his combined. We’ll need transfusions afterwards, since it’s so close to when we already gave. Start testing blood to see if there’s anyone compatible enough for Rex and me. My mom can’t give this soon and Dad’s isn’t compatible at all with mine.”

  “Should we call Averil back?”

“No. She’s just gotten her strength back. Let her enjoy her honeymoon. We’ll try to do this without her. How sick are they?”

“The levels aren’t too bad, yet. My suspicion, it was a small dose but enough to get our people excited and scared. We can use the doses of antidote that Ellen and her staff have had time to make. But they may not be enough. I’d like you around in case they aren’t.”

“We’re about thirty minutes out from the ranch. Dad will drive me straight to the hospital. We have to find out the identity of this person or persons before they slowly cripple so many of our people that they can take over.”

“I know. Mitch and Daren are calling a meeting of all our warriors. We’re going back into battle mode.”

“Good. See you soon.” Kira clicked her phone off and leaned her head back on the seat.

Her mother turned around from the front seat. “I gathered from your conversation that there’s more trouble.”

  “Yes.”

  “You look sad.”

“I’m trying to accept the fact that I have to lose my anonymity. The Priestess, Elle, was right. My path led me here, and I have to accept my destiny. It isn’t what I’d choose, but I can no longer ignore it.

“Our people will be less frightened and more determined to fight if they know who I am and that I am fighting with them. I’ll meet with the leaders, Nanna, and Mother Aileen to discuss when and how to tell the others about me.”

Kira’s bird fluttered inside her. She wanted out. It had been too long since Kira had had a chance to fly. Once all the others knew about her, then she’d be able to go out to the more isolated parts of the ranch and soar into the sky.

Familiar loneliness clung to her. But it would be better when Averil returned. She, more than anyone, understood Kira. She’d wait for her before she exposed herself to the others.

“We’re here. Did you get a nap?” her mother asked.

“No, I was thinking.” Kira got out and waved her parents on. When she turned to go inside, Dr. Rexford opened the door for her.

  “We meet again.”

“Bad pennies do have a way of turning up.”

For a second, she caught a ghost of a smile cross his lips. Her heart jumped in response. She shook her head. She didn’t need complications in her life. Turning her thoughts to the current crisis, she strode past him and into the ER.
