Found My Love [Learning to Love 3] (Siren Publishing Classic) Page 14

by Alison Mello

“I can’t wait to do my account reconciliation tomorrow and Wednesday to see how Julie is working out. I’ll be able to see if she’s making mistakes or if she’s slow, and to be honest I don’t mind slow if she’s accurate and not falling behind.”

“Right. It’s definitely better for her to be a little slow and to do a good job than her rushing and making mistakes.”

We finish our lunch and head straight back to the office. It’s just after one when we get in, so we both get straight to work. Julie is waiting with a pile of questions for Abbey, and I’m sure I have a ton of e-mails to answer.

The afternoon has zipped by, but I’ve managed to get a report together that Jack needs for the quarter-end reports, so all I’ll have to do is tweak a few numbers on the last day of the quarter. I also set up a pickup with the Salvation Army, talk to Katie’s new principal about going in on Friday to meet her and see the school, and confirm with her current principal when her last day will be. Now I just have to text Kyle to find out if he’s taking Katie this weekend.

What’s your plan for this weekend? Are you taking Katie or not?

  Why?

Because we are moving and I need to give you our new address if you’re picking her up.

Let me guess, moving in with Chase.

Marrying Chase. He proposed this weekend, so yes, we’re moving in with him.

Yes, I’m taking her. He’s not going to try and take my place.

He doesn’t want to take your place. Text me on Friday to confirm, and I’ll give you the address to pick her up if that’s where we’ll be.

  Whatever!

Next I decide I need to text Chase to let him know that we’re going to have to give Kyle his address, and I want to confirm that we plan on staying at his house Friday night, but when I notice the time I decide to do that after I leave. I have a few more things to wrap up, and I’m done for the night.

That is when I panic because I realize I never got a text from my mom.

Does Dad feel up to seeing Katie tonight? We have some news to share!

A minute later I get a text back.

Yes, he has had a good day and would love to see you guys.

  Great, I’ll bring dinner.

  * * * *

We walk into the hospital with a bucket of chicken, a bunch of side dishes, and some paper plates and plastic utensils. I feel bad for the people who can’t eat this stuff because it smells so good. This is one of my dad’s favorite places to eat, and I’m hoping it’ll make him happy and he’ll eat well. I knock on the door as we walk into his room and I hear him take a deep breath.

“Oh my baby brought me my favorite,” he says as he sees us enter with the bags.

“Hi, Daddy. You look good today. How are you feeling?”

“I’m feeling so much better now that my baby girl is here with my princess.” He’s smiling and looks so happy today. Chase shakes his hand and gives my mom a hug and kiss on the cheek as I pull out plates and start setting up our dinner.

My dad looks at Katie. “What is all this good news Mommy was texting Grammy about?”

She looks to Chase and I, and we both nod for her to spill.

“Mommy and Chase are getting married, and we’re moving to Chase’s house.”

I catch my dad wink at Chase, and I call him on it. “What was that wink you just gave my fiancé?”

My dad chuckles. “What wink? I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

I give him a look that screams bullshit.

“Chase and I had talked about you two getting married, and he told me he was waiting for the right time to ask you, so I asked him to do it before I die.”

“Oh, Daddy. We’re going to set the date after your next round of chemo. I want to see if you’ll be able to get out of here for it, and if not I’ll marry Chase right here in your room with you by our side.”

“Grampy, are you going to die? My daddy says you are and that you’re going to go to heaven.”

My dad sighs and explains to Katie that everyone has to die sometime and that we all live to be different ages. Some people die as children and some people live to be a hundred, but it’s the way of life.

She looks at him kind of confused and says, “Well, that just stinks,” as she takes her usual spot in front of my dad to share his table. We all laugh at her cuteness and start eating our dinner.

It’s so great to see my dad eat a decent meal while he sits and talks to Katie. She’s filling him in on how her and Chase proposed and is actually saying the story pretty accurately. As their finishing their meals, I notice my dad is starting to look a bit tired and I need to get Katie ready for school, so I start cleaning up the mess from dinner and we say our good-byes.

Once home, I fill Chase in on my accomplishments for the day as I get into my pajamas. Now that I have Katie in bed and her clothes picked out for school tomorrow I want to get comfortable. I throw my shirt and bra into the laundry as Chase walks up behind me and cups my breasts with his hands. I groan at the feeling of his hands on my skin. I roll my head back onto his shoulder as I arch my back and press my breasts into his hands. He rolls my nipples as he kisses my neck. Heat is already pooling between my legs as he slowly slides one hand down my stomach and into the front of my pants. His fingers find their way into my folds, and he groans his pleasure when he finds I’m already wet for him. He starts playing with my hardening nub as he pinches one of my nipples and bites my earlobe.

“I love you so much,” he whispers in my ear.

He slides my pants down to the floor, so I help him by stepping out of them. He stays on his knees and taps my legs, telling me to spread them as he sticks out his tongue to lick between my folds. My legs nearly buckle at the sensation. He grabs my ass and pulls me toward him so his face is buried in my pussy. He’s squeezing my ass cheeks like he’s holding on for dear life and eating my pussy like it’s his last meal.

“Oh my God, Chase. Please I can’t come standing like this. I’ll fall.”

He laughs with his lips pressed against me and the vibration almost sends me over. He backs me up to the edge of the bed and lays me down so I’m on my back, but my ass is practically hanging off the bed. He sits on the floor in front of me and starts licking and biting the inside of my leg. His tongue finds its way back to my folds, and he starts licking my clit hard and fast. He wants me to come and he wants me to come now.

  “Chase…” I stop because I know I’m loud.

“Shhh, or I’ll have to buy a gag.”

He starts again, and I’m so sensitive that it doesn’t take much for him to push me over the edge. He sucks on my clit and as I start to convulse, he sticks his tongue deep inside me and fucks me with it as I ride out my orgasm. I’m panting as he stands and flips me over so my feet are on the floor and my stomach is pressed flat to the bed. Without warning he slams his huge length deep inside me, and I whimper as I get used to the fullness of him inside me.

“Sorry, T. I don’t have much control tonight. I want you too bad,” he says as he tries to show some control.

“Chase, just give it to me already.”

“No problem, baby. Ask and you shall receive.” He gradually starts to move, and before I know it, he’s moving harder and faster. He doesn’t stop until he’s fucking me so hard that I swear the neighbors hear us. I’m biting the blanket as I feel my next orgasm building. Chase is just drilling it into me, and it feels so good.

  “Chase, I…”

“Come on, baby. Give it to me.” He grunts, trying to hold on. He slams into me a few more times, and it’s just enough.

“Yes, Chase, oh my God, yes,” I moan out through gritted teeth.

He slams into me one more time. He’s shaking as he pours himself into me. He bends over on top of me to kiss me on the back between my shoulder blades.

“Baby, I think you’re trying to kill me.” He pants as he tries to recover.

“Heck no. I have never had sex like this in my life. I’m not letting
you go now that I found you.”

  Chapter 14

I can’t believe how much I have gotten done this week. I take a deep breath as I look around. I’m exhausted between packing and visiting my dad at the hospital, but it’ll all be worth it in the end. Most of our clothes are already moved to our new home. I have to stop myself from saying “Chase’s house.” He got mad at me the other day and reminded me it was my home, too. I think back to the night he was helping me pack, and he told me if I said it again he would put me over his knee. I laughed and told him he didn’t have a kinky bone in his body, and I loved him for it.

I’m boxing up the last of the dishes and other random items that need to be picked up by the Salvation Army this morning. They will be here in a little bit with a truck to pick up the living room furniture, my bedroom set, Katie’s bedroom set, and all the random boxes I have packed for them. My landlord wanted my dining room set so we moved that upstairs already.

After the Salvation Army leaves, I need to take a shower and change to head to Katie’s new school. I should be getting an update from my mom at any minute about how my dad is feeling today. I’m hopeful she’ll have an update on his CT scan as well. Chase is going to meet me at the house so he can come with me to the new school since he’ll be Katie’s stepfather soon.

I close up the last box and tape it shut when my phone pings.

Dad just finished his CT scan. Will let you know as soon as I hear something.

  Great. Thanks.

Good luck at Katie’s new school.

I grab the trash bag and throw out the last few things I need to get rid of and tie the bag up. Chase told the landlord he would hire a cleaning company to come through and do a heavy cleaning once we were done in here, but she told us not to worry about it. She told him that I was a good tenant and that I took good care of the place so she wasn’t worried.

  * * * *

I get home with just enough time to shower and change thanks to the Salvation Army being late, but the apartment is empty and I gave the landlord back her keys. I need to remember to text Kyle later to see if he’s picking up Katie, but right now I have to focus on getting ready.

“Hey, T. I pulled some clothes out for you and put them on the bed so you would have one less thing to worry about.”

I thank him as I run up the stairs to quickly shower.

In twenty minutes time we are out the door and on our way to the school. I have to be careful to not run too late so that we are not late picking up Katie. We’re having dinner at home tonight, and Chase is surprising Katie with her new room. He even got her new furniture.

Katie’s new school is amazing. The upper classes are already working with iPads, and they have laptops the kids can work on in the classrooms. There’s an after-school program that she’ll be able to start the first day of school, and the teachers who run it will help her get her homework done so she will not be up late doing it.

We pull up outside the apartment and wait for the bus to show up.

“What did you think of the school? You haven’t said a word since we left,” Chase asks as we watch for the bus.

“Sorry, Chase. I’m just really tired. It has been a long week, and there has been so much happening so quickly. I loved the school and I think Katie will, too. I can’t wait to see her room with her tonight.”

“You look exhausted, T. I’m glad we are staying in tonight so you can rest before we have our friends and family over tomorrow. Have you heard from Kyle about picking up Katie?”

“Oh shit, no. I was going to text him and I forgot. I’ll do it now.” I grab my phone from my purse, and there is a missed call from my mom, but I need to text Kyle first or I’ll forget again.

  Are you getting Katie tomorrow?

Nope. I have got to work.

Thanks for texting me to let me know. Text me when you want to pick her up again.

I look at Chase. “She’s ours for the weekend.”

He smiles. “Sweet, it’s going to be a fun weekend.”

“Here comes the bus. I’ll call my mom once we have Katie settled in the car.” I get out of the truck to grab Katie and let the bus driver know that today is the last day she’ll stop here for Katie and that she’s starting a new school on Monday. She nods and wishes us luck before she closes the door and pulls away.

Chase gets out of the car and picks Katie up. “Hey, pretty girl. How was your day?” he asks as he puts her into her booster seat and buckles her in.

“It was good. How was your day?” she asks, looking at me as I climb into the front seat of the truck.

“It was good. Guess what we did today?” I ask her.

“Um, went to see Grampy?” she says.

“No. We went to see your new school. On Monday, Mommy is going to drive you to school for your first day, and then you’ll go to the after-school program. Then Mommy or Chase will pick you up when we get out of work.”

  She smiles. “Cool, Mommy.”

Katie has never been to the house so she has no idea what she’s in for when she gets there. The house is huge with a very open layout on the main floor. It has a huge kitchen with all top-notch appliances and French doors that open to a gorgeous patio. There is a beautiful gas fireplace in the living room. Then the upstairs has our bedroom with our own master bath, and then there are two other bedrooms which both have their own en suite bath as well. Chase wouldn’t let me see Katie’s room until he could show it to us both at once, so we are both excited to see it.

I grab my phone to call my mom before I forget. “Hey, Mom. How is Dad doing today?”

“He’s very happy. They are going to let him go home for a few days until his next round of chemo. It looks like they are going to take this week off and go another round the week after. He’s doing well, but the next round will be a little stronger so they want him to build up his strength a little.”

“That is great, Mom! Let me know once you have him home and if you need anything.” I hang up and text my sister.

Dad is spending the next 10 days at home before his next chemo treatment. Now would be a good time to visit with the kids.

  I’ll think about it.

“My sister is such an ass,” I say as Chase pulls up to the house.

Katie has her seatbelt off and is jumping in the backseat before he can open the door for her. He opens the front door for her, and she runs in super excited.

“Katie, no running in the house!” I yell.

Chase gives me a look that says it’s fine, but he doesn’t actually say anything. “Katie, you can look around all you want, but stay downstairs for now.” He looks at me. “Why’s your sister an ass?”

“Because my dad’s coming home for ten days or so before his next chemo treatment and my sister still won’t take the kids to see him. She thinks their memory of him will be tainted by seeing him ill. Christ, her kids are older than Katie and she’s doing just fine,” I say in total frustration.

“T, you have a great love for your dad and amazing passion when you believe in something, but you can’t force that on others. You do what you believe is right and let karma handle the rest.”

“Mommy, Chase, can we see upstairs now? I want to see my room.”

I look down at my daughter. “Can you ask in a big-girl voice instead of whining because you know Mommy will not give you what you’re asking for if you’re whining.”

She smiles up at me, knowing exactly what I’m talking about and says, “Mom, can we go see my new room now?” in her very best big-girl voice.

“There’s my pretty little girl,” Chase says as he scoops her up and starts heading upstairs.

Once he’s at the top, he covers her eyes with his hand and tells her no peeking. He walks her into her room and asks her if she’s ready. When she nods, he pulls his hand away, and both our jaws drop at the scene in front of us.

Her room is painted in a pale pink with white wooden letters on the wall that spell out Katie in capital letters, and hanging from t
he E is a pair of darker pink ballet slippers. She has a white canopy bed set up in her room, and the canopy is set up in dark pink and white. She has a white bureau and a white vanity with a mirror. Her detangler, water bottle, brush, and hairspray are all displayed on it, and in the far corner is an area for her to play with her toys. He has even provided her with a pink trunk to store them all in. I can officially say that my child has been spoiled by Chase, and from the look in his eyes he’s proud. Katie has the biggest grin on her face as she stands there, spinning around in her room, taking it all in.

She runs up to Chase. “Thank you so much, Chase! I love my new room!”

He smiles at her. “Aww, you’re welcome, sweet pea. I’m glad you like it. Now let’s go get some dinner because we have a busy day tomorrow, and you need to get some sleep.”

Chase has made Katie baked mac and cheese for dinner, and once we are done cleaning up we play a quick game with her before we shower her and get her ready for bed.

We tuck Katie in and turn on her new ballerina night-light so she won’t be nervous in her new bedroom. We both say good night, kiss her on the head, and then walk out of her room, closing the door slightly. As we walk down the hall I look at Chase.

“I notice you put her in the room farthest from ours.”

He gives me a dirty grin as he pulls me to him. “My love is a screamer, and I need to make sure we don’t wake her.”

I start laughing. “I knew you were going to say that.”

“I have one more surprise for her in the morning, and I hope you don’t mind. I know you have been meaning to sign her up for dance but haven’t had the time with your dad in the hospital so I called the best dance school in the area and signed her up. She starts in the morning. The woman told me they have all the dance clothes there that she’ll need so we can buy them when we get there. We just need to find her tap and ballet shoes, but she will loan her a pair for tomorrow.”
