“Big boy,” Adrian murmured, grabbing the base of Michael’s cock and steadying it.

Before Michael could say anything in response, Adrian leaned forward, running his tongue from tip to base in a slow, gliding motion. Adrian kept his eyes up, watching Michael’s eyes flutter into half-slits as he ran his tongue back, circling the head with teasing flicks. Adrian wrapped his lips around the thick head, moaning softly as the taste of Michael slid over his tongue. Sucking gently, Adrian began to guide the man’s cock further into his mouth, letting it touch the back of his throat before easing himself back. He felt a shiver run up Michael’s body as he slid forward once more, running his tongue in a circle around the head, drawing a throaty groan from Michael.

Convinced that the alpha was primed and ready, Adrian pulled his head back once more. Without giving Michael a chance to brace, Adrian pushed forward, taking the thick cock to the back of his throat and further down. He’d known at first glance that, even with his skill, taking Michael’s cock into his throat would be a challenge, so he wasn’t the least bit surprised when his body resisted at first. Adrian breathed deeply through his nose as he pushed further, feeling his throat squeeze around the length of Michael’s cock.

Above him, Michael gave a faint gasp, followed by a deep groan that became a growl as the entirety of his cock slid into Adrian’s throat. The primal sound sent a shudder through Adrian and he pulled halfway back to take a breath and dive eagerly forward once more. To Adrian, there were few things as erotic has having someone’s cock in his mouth, to hear them moan and groan, lost in the pleasure that he so readily gave. Michael was no exception. The alpha, despite having been assertive from the onset, had allowed the reins of control to flip over into Adrian’s capable hands.

If he had been able to grin, Adrian would have done so as he rocked his head back and forth. The longer he went, the more his throat adjusted to the rhythm of his movements, resisting less and less as he drove Michael’s cock deeper. The alpha’s cock leaked, and Adrian found himself moaning as the taste splashed over his tongue with every other forward motion. His own cock strained from the confines of his pants, and without thinking twice, Adrian reached down, fishing it out with a low noise of relief.

When Michael noticed Adrian jerking himself off as he sucked the alpha, he moaned and thrust forward. Adrian gave a happy rumble, the twitch of Michael’s cock in his mouth sending a thrill of pleasure through him. He could feel Michael’s body tightening up, coiling in preparation for release as he continued his steady motions. As he listened, Michael’s breathing began to hitch, his moans drawing out longer, the fingers at the back of Adrian’s head gripping harder.

  “Adrian,” Michael warned breathlessly.

In response, Adrian pushed forward once more, burying Michael’s cock in his throat and letting his muscles squeeze along the sensitive length. Michael’s body went taut, hips pushing forward as he came. Adrian’s throat worked hard, swallowing Michael down before pulling back and letting him splash over his tongue with a satisfied groan.

Adrian’s pumping motions around his own cock went erratic as Michael came in his mouth. As the last of Michael’s orgasm petered off, Adrian made a low noise, hips shoving forward as he found his own release. His moans vibrated around Michael’s cock, producing another throaty groan from the alpha, as pleasure wrapped its way up Adrian’s spine and flooded his body with ecstasy.

Left gasping for air, Adrian finally relinquished his mouth’s hold around Michael’s cock. The strength was gone from his legs and he let himself sag onto his knees. Still trying to catch his breath, Adrian looked up at Michael, pleased to find the man’s face flushed and a weak but content smile written across his face.

“A man of many talents,” Michael whispered, running a gentle thumb across Adrian’s bottom lip.

Adrian returned the smile, the butterfly feeling in his gut increasing until he thought that his stomach might try to escape his body. Warmth that had nothing to do with sexual pleasure ran through him, a cocktail of emotions that Adrian had no name for. It was a collection of feelings that both excited and terrified him in equal, confusing measure. In that moment, he felt himself split right down the middle. One side wanting to pull away from the intimate and promising touch, and the other wanting to draw in closer to it.

In that moment, Adrian realized just how dangerous being around Michael could end up being.

  Chapter 10

After a few hours of poking about, Adrian discovered the three warehouses and scoped out prime spots to sit and watch. The industrial section of the city wasn’t in the best shape, but the warehouses that Stephan owned were some of the worst kept. To Adrian, they didn’t look like a place someone would be willing to store anything, let alone something they had any hope of keeping.

A buzzing in his pocket alerted him to another message, one he assumed was from Michael. It was a prepaid phone that he could easily toss without a trace and Michael was the only contact on the device. Adrian supposed such extra precautions weren’t necessary but he hadn’t survived as long as he had by being lazy with his own safety, or that of his clients. Although it would be simple for someone to simply spy on him staying at Michael’s, that was considerably less compromising than reading their messages or listening in on their calls.

He opened the phone and punched in a reply before sliding it into his pocket. Michael was only looking for an update on how things were going, but Adrian was being short with him. He hoped that it appeared that Adrian was just caught up with the job rather than avoiding Michael.

“You’re totally avoiding him,” Adrian grumbled to himself as he crouched in the scraggly bushes across from one of the warehouses. But knowing that wasn’t stopping him , nor was it improving his mood. He could tell himself he was being ridiculous as long as he wanted. They had just had a bit of fun, just like Adrian had with others in the past. Michael hadn’t been trying to make it out to be a bigger deal than it was and hadn’t even commented on Adrian’s disappearing act in the middle of the night. The only one making a big deal out of it was Adrian.

Adrian pulled his phone out when it buzzed again, growling at it. “What do you want from me?”

He knew he wasn’t referring to the message. Michael’s text was straightforward. Adrian’s problem lay with why Michael had bothered doing anything with him in the first place. From the moment they met, Michael had seemed unfazed by Adrian’s behavior and completely uninterested in him. It was one thing to call him up to help with some trouble that he knew Adrian was capable of assisting with, but Adrian couldn’t wrap his head around the sudden change in interest. It would have been understandable if he had ever detected Michael’s interest in him sexually beforehand, but instead, Adrian was left feeling like it had come from nowhere.

Adrian punched his reply in with another growl of annoyance. “I don’t like not knowing things, Michael. I thought omegas were supposed to be the ones who are hard to predict.”

A car easing its way into the parking lot of the warehouse interrupted Adrian’s thoughts. He perked up, instinctively shutting the phone off as he watched the car park. The bushes and sections of the rusted fence blocked most of his view, so he couldn’t make out any faces as a group of people stepped out of the car. They were talking, too quiet for Adrian’s ears to pick up from across the street.

Despite wanting to follow to see who they were and what they might be up to, Adrian settled himself back into the bush. He had already looked inside each of the warehouses as best he could from the outside. As far as he could to tell, there was nothing in them save a few dusty, broken boxes and equally-dilapidated storage units. Nothing in there spoke of Stephan using it for much more than a convenient meeting place. Adrian didn’t want to try to sneak in and risk being caught by someone else coming to the meeting.

His patience paid off when another car pulled into the lot. Another set of voices, a mix of genders from the sounds of it, emerged from the opening car doors. Just like with the fi
rst group, Adrian couldn’t understand their words clearly but listened as they approached the building. A squeak of a door followed and the voices were shut off with a slam.

Making sure to take another look around, Adrian darted across the street. He checked the cars to make sure no one had been left behind before approaching the door. Carefully, he tested the handle to make sure it was unlocked and peered through the window. Once he was sure the coast was clear, he opened the door slowly and slipped into the dark shadows of the warehouse.

Following the voices of the two groups that entered had proven easy. The warehouse’s large, open space carried sound with minimal bouncing off rows of items. As much as he wanted to be up close and personal to understand what was being said, he treaded carefully. There was a strong possibility that whoever he was dealing with had security precautions in place. Adrian didn’t trust in the seeming emptiness of the building or allow it to lull him into a false sense of security.

After several more feet, a chiding female voice could be understood. “And I’m not so sure a fire was necessary either.”

A smug male voice responded. “It worked though, didn’t it? He’s not going to be buying that up anytime soon.”

“You’re just lucky that there weren’t people in there. They’re already investigating for arson and, word is, they’re not looking at the original owners. Imagine how much worse it would be if someone had been hurt,” the female scolded.

Adrian could almost hear the shrug in the man’s voice. “Then they would have gotten hurt.”

Adrian approached the source of the voices. It appeared that the group was meeting in an old breakroom. The wall was lined with squares of glass, most of which were broken or too dirty to see through. Adrian could only make out bits and pieces of the people inside.

“We’re not trying to alert the whole city. If every other pack in this hellhole finds out what’s going on, we’re going to have a lot more problems. Too many to work with,” the female said, and Adrian could see she stood at the far end of a broken table.

“We’re hiding out in the dirtiest places you could find. I don’t think we could be any subtler if we tried,” the cocky male voice replied.

Oddly, Adrian felt that he knew both speakers. The female’s voice was sharp and chastising, and he couldn’t help but think of a nasty piece of work who was used to getting what she wanted. Adrian thought of the guy as some young punk who was enjoying the chaos they were causing but didn’t have the patience to see it through.

Another male voice spoke, “And are we making decent progress?”

The nasty woman’s voice came again as she rested her hand on the table, gold ring catching the overhead light. “We’ve got him running around, chasing his tail. I’d say that’s pretty good progress.”

“We’ve been doing this for months. It’s about time we did something more, don’t you think?” the cocky male demanded.

“Anything more and we risk drawing too much attention,” someone else said carefully.

The unpleasant woman spoke, “And we’ve drawn quite enough attention as it is. Michael may be blind in his own ways, but not so much that he hasn’t noticed someone is sabotaging him. The fire was too heavy handed.”

“Yeah but it worked,” the man persisted.

It was bothering Adrian that he couldn’t place the woman’s voice. There was something in the man’s voice that was triggering alarm bells at the back of his mind, but he couldn’t quite put words to it. The woman sounded familiar, like he’d met her and spoken with her before, but the distortion through the wall and the echo of the hallway was making it impossible to place her voice. There was a rhythm to the man’s speech that struck Adrian, something about it touching on old memories.

“With plenty of attention thrown our way. Too much and we risk being found out. Michael is bound to have more than his pet sneak trying to discover the cause. The fire was too obvious, and it might encourage a more formal investigation,” a third, grumpy sounding male said.

The woman scoffed. “Despite how stupid it was, we can still spin it so that the heat doesn’t come down on us. There have been more than enough fires in the city within the past six months. It should be simple enough to let them believe that this latest one was the work of the serial arsonist.”

The irritable sounding male spoke again. “Which is all well and good, but how does that help us? We can’t very well expect to win by moving slowly. Stephan, despite his ill-advised timing, does have a point. If we wish to get anywhere, we need to move with a bit more purpose than before. If we want any hope of ridding ourselves of Michael, we need to add more to our repertoire than simple sabotage.”

“You were the ones who wanted the largest target in the city,” the nasty woman shot back.

“The largest and toughest target fit our criteria,” the irritated man said, though now he was slipping into cool arrogance.

“And so your ego is soothed, but you cannot attack the holdings of the most business savvy pack leader within the city and not expect to encounter difficulty. Michael is by far one of the more capable and formidable alphas. If we were to draw too much attention upon ourselves, he would have more than enough firepower to back him up in a counterstrike. I don’t know about you, but I don’t think our odds are very good if he should turn his attention on us specifically,” the woman explained impatiently.

The man who sounded somewhat familiar to Adrian, the one he was guessing was the infamous Stephan, snorted. “Haven’t we gone on long enough? We’ve got him scattered, on the ropes. It should be more than enough to go for the heart. My leaders aren’t going to wait forever. If we can’t prove that we can do this, then they’re going to pull everything out from under our feet. You won’t get shit for doing this.”

The woman snorted. “I’m fully aware of what’s at stake here, which is precisely why I’m telling you to calm yourselves and wait until the proper moment presents itself. Anything else would open us up for failure.”

Adrian frowned as he listened, trying to memorize their words even as his mind raced over what he was hearing, looking for answers. As far as he could make out, the group had come together under the intention of bringing Michael down. Adrian wasn’t sure what the greater purpose was, but it sounded as if it were a test run of sorts.

“And if we don’t move quickly enough, he’ll have someone out sniffing around who can find us. If that happens, we’re going to be targets anyway, and without the benefit of forewarning if we moved more aggressively,” one of the men said.

“I can tell that no amount of reason is going to sway you to a smarter choice,” the woman huffed.

There was a thump of what Adrian thought was a fist as Stephan growled. “If we don’t move soon, we’ll lose all support. If we can’t prove that this can be done, then everything we’ve done will have been for nothing. I’m not willing to lose everything because you’re too scared to move forward.”

“This coming from someone who only has to go crawling back home if this falls through,” she hissed.

“I lose a great deal, including the good name that I’ve built for myself. That may not mean much to you, but it is everything to us,” Stephan shot back.

“Forgive me, I wasn’t aware that everything hinged upon whether or not your name was in good standing. And here you sept boys like to talk like you’re noble and honorable,” she said with a sneer in her voice.

“Watch what you say about my family before I forget that we’re allied. I won’t go home with my tail between my legs because you were too scared to be bold. Your name might count for nothing out here, but I won’t have mine ruined over cowardice,” Stephan growled.

Another voice spoke, this one a calm, bored-sounding male. “And while the two of you stand there and bicker like children, you’ve completely ignored the most important detail.”

  “What?” the woman snapped.

“Someone’s been standing outside this room listening in, perhaps for the entire time,
 the voice replied.

  Chapter 11

Adrian’s feet were moving before he consciously thought about escaping. It wasn’t the first time he’d had to make a hasty retreat. His body moved of its own volition as he dodged under a shelving unit that nearly blocked the hallway. From behind him came a sharp cry of anger, a beam of light from what Adrian assumed was a flashlight bobbing as it tried to catch sight of him .

“He’s heading to the side exit!” one of them barked, but Adrian didn’t pause to find out who it was.

Adrian threw himself along the path, shoes slapping against the gritty concrete. He could hear the others running somewhere in the ruined paths of the warehouse beside him. Adrian cursed under his breath, not liking that a few of the footfalls sounded closer than he was comfortable with. He would have spared a curse for himself as well, for being stupid enough to not realize that they would know the paths within the warehouse better than he.

One of them was gaining on him. The sound of someone thundering up the aisle next to him was the only warning he had as he cleared the rows of shelves. His body bunched, diving forward beneath the grasping arms of the man who tried to grab hold of him. Adrian tucked his body, his shoulder hitting the ground and momentum carrying him forward. Expertly, he rolled with the motion, letting his feet hit the ground and shoving forward so that he could continue his sprint. A smirk crossed his face when he heard the frustrated growl of the man who had tried to surprise him.

From the sounds of the heavy footsteps behind him he wasn’t out of danger just yet. There were barked orders for someone to go to the other entrance to try to head him off. Adrian snorted, almost wishing he had the time and breath to mock the person for the order. They should have had a plan ready in case something like this happened, just so they didn’t announce their plan to catch him within earshot.
