If I could find some way of deleting his programming, then his work would be null and void and all we would have to deal with were the bills that were currently out there. If I were him, I would have everything backed up and files on how many bills were currently circulating in the city, because he was just too anal not to keep everything on his hard drive.
When I could tell Willie had wrapped his attention completely in his work I whispered, “I’m in, and I might have an idea that will eliminate some of the heavy lifting.”
A voice in my ear said, “Okay, but be careful, because you never know who is watching. I would imagine that they will be able to tell if you are doing something wrong.”
It was good advice, and I was finding that agent Stevens was teaching me a lot and showing me that everything that I thought previously was wrong. Being undercover meant that you had to immerse yourself in the moment and making sure that your story was concrete from the very beginning.
He was not only sexy on the outside, but there was a real man lurking underneath all of that bravado.
That didn't mean that I didn't want some answers, especially about the heavy envelope in the back of his car, but that didn't mean I couldn't admire the man himself.
“I’m going to get something to eat, and I will be back in one half-hour,” Willie said.
It seemed to me that this organization was a stickler for details and had probably told him that he was allowed a half hour for lunch and probably a couple of breaks during the day. There was no telling how much money he was getting for his expertise, although it really had to be in the millions, considering all the money that was going out the door.
Walking over to his workstation, I slipped in a flash drive, and began downloading everything off his computer, and at the same time entering a virus so that everything would be wiped out. I had learned sleight-of-hand from my grandfather, who was notorious for making quarters appear behind my ears. This talent was coming in handy, and whoever was watching on camera couldn't see how fast my hand moved, making it virtually impossible for them to know what I was up to. This little trick might be exactly what I needed to get into Lucas’s trunk and find out exactly what he was trying to hide from me.
If anybody had any inkling of what I was up to, it would've caused a ripple effect and probably a bullet through my head. Stepping away, I was able to keep an eye on the download, watching as the many minutes ticked by slowly. If it wasn't quick enough, Willie would come back and find out what was going on. He would then raise the alarm and bring in the many guards that were around the facility. The only way that this would work was if I didn't activate the virus until I was well away from this place.
A small ding announced the fact that the download was complete, and I stretched my arms back behind me and grabbed the flash drive, placing it into my pocket so fast that the human eye couldn't see it.
Two minutes later, Willie came back scratching at his hair and biting his nails, obviously nervous about something that he had either seen or overheard.
“Why would they do this? I have been loyal and I only asked for 10 percent. I must’ve heard them wrong, it has to be a mistake.”
“What’s wrong?”
He snapped forward and said with terror in his voice, “I heard Terence talking about a body, and then he mentioned my name specifically. He told whoever was on the phone that he was going to take care of me.”
It was lucky that the cameras didn't have any audio. I knew the specific design and make of the model to know that it was only meant to spy and not listen.
Willie asked, “Why would they kill the golden goose?”
I already knew the answer and had already come to the same conclusion before he even entered the room.
“Once I am done, they will be able to use my program to do everything themselves, even though they promised that I would have a place in the organization for as long as I wanted. I was actually stupid enough to believe them, and I think that I bet on the wrong horse.”
“Who is the mastermind behind this operation, because I have never heard anybody speak of him or her. Maybe if we knew that, it might give you the leverage you need to cancel your execution.”
“It’s Ronald Franks and I have the proof right here. Just let me download the information and we can get out of here. If you help me, I can make you a very rich woman.”
This sounded like a prime opportunity to take down this operation, and I couldn't happen but wonder if Lucas would be impressed by my skills.
“Don’t try to download anything because they are watching you very closely, although that won't stop me from helping you. If what you say is true, then coming to work for them was a serious misjudgment on my part, and if you can offer me a better deal, then I will be glad to help you.”
By the look on his face, I could tell he thought that he had found his guardian angel, but really what he found was a first-class ticket to jail. I didn't want him to mess up my plans by going over to the computer and downloading the information, because I already had it and with my magical touch, I was able to do it without being noticed.
He didn’t know that, and I wasn't about to tell him.
All of a sudden, he grabbed the computer and ripped it out of the wall, lifting it over his head and throwing it to the floor.
It smashed to pieces.
I grabbed him by the collar and pulled him back, just as reinforcements were arriving and Terence wasn't far behind.
“You are in serious trouble, Willie, and you better hope that we can retrieve what's on your hard drive or this could get ugly.” Terrance was looking at him like a scolded child, but I saw that Willie wasn’t having any of it.
“Could…could get ugly…how much uglier could it possibly get, when you are planning to dispose of me anyway.”
His outburst was unfortunate, and this was starting to look like it was going to become a rescue mission and not an escape. Just because I said that I was going to help and protect him, didn't mean that I was God and could get him out of every situation.
“You should wear a bell around your neck because you hear and see things that you shouldn't.”
“Let me deal with him.” The words were out of my mouth before I had a chance to think about it, and Terence looked at me with suspicion, and then smiled when he saw that I was serious.
“Okay, if you want to make your bones, then who am I to stand in your way? I'll send Carl with you, just in case you don't have the killer instinct that I think you do.”
At least I would only have to deal with one person when it could have been all of them, and that wouldn't have been a pretty sight.
“Just keep your mouth shut and keep walking,” I whispered to Willie. “I am not going to kill you, but I can't say the same for the guy behind us.”
Willie was shaking and shuffling forward, biting his nails and looking around for anything to escape. Even though he knew that I was on his side, that didn't seem to be enough for him. If he did anything out of the ordinary, then Carl would react swiftly and with immediate action, leaving me only one choice, and it wasn't a choice that I was looking forward to.
Finally, Willie stammered, “I…can’t…do this…
Oh, shit.
“Aahhhhhhh!”
He began waving his arms all around and running towards the stairs, while Carl was pulling his gun out and was about to shoot him in the back. This commotion of his had brought unwanted attention, and other guards were coming to see what was going on, and I really had only one option on the table.
Pulling out my gun, I fired it without thinking, striking Carl in the chest, making the gun in his hand fall to the ground. Terence looked in my direction and put his thumb across his throat, indicating that I was a dead woman, which meant that I was going to have to make tracks fast.
Running towards the stairs, I heard guns going off and even felt something hot fly past my ear before I made it to the stairwell.
“Lucas, I need help…NOW.”
The only answer that returned was static on the line, and I had to wonder if he was even able to hear me because I certainly couldn't hear him. This meant that I was on my own, and the unpredictability of Willie was going to hamper any of my progress. Still, I had a momentary vision of Lucas sweeping in at the last moment like Prince Charming.
Standing on the landing below, I took aim at the door above and waited for it to swing open before I opened fire, which drove them back into the hall. Not waiting for anything, I ran down the stairs, not even knowing where I was going, or where the stairwell was going to come out.
When I reached the bottom landing, I found Willie pounding on the door with his fists. Putting my shoulder against the door, I found that the door was warped and was stuck. No matter how much effort we both put into it, there was nothing that was going to move that door anytime soon.
“What the hell did you get me into, Willie? Didn't you know that this door was stuck?”
He was beside himself, and slowly slumped to the ground with his arms around his knees and rocking back and forth. Willie was having what could only be described as a mental breakdown and was less than useless in this situation.
There were footsteps above us, and they were getting closer every second.
The only thing I could do was—maybe—get to the next landing above and onto the floor before they would get there themselves. Willie wasn't moving, and I really didn't have the time or effort to drag him up the stairs. So I could only hope that he would stay quiet, and I would be able to lead these men away from him.
“Just try and stay calm and quiet and I'll be back for you before you know it.”
He didn't even look up at me and was too far gone into himself to even realize that I was leaving him.
With my gun drawn, I made my way up to the next landing, and just got through the door when I heard guns peppering where I just was. Finding a piece of wood, I put it against the door so that it would take them a little while to get through.
I surveyed the area and saw that I was in some sort of construction site, and the only way out was not exactly something that I was looking forward to.
The pounding on the door was followed by the crack of the wood, giving me no other option. Running at full speed, I dove into the hole that they used to throw down used equipment and garbage, flying down in a straight line, with no way to slow down.
“AHHHHHHHHHHH.”
I screamed, but it was not by choice, but almost the same reaction that you would get if you were on a roller coaster. Dropping out of midair, I landed on my back on several pieces of wood and other assorted construction crap. I jumped out of the bin just as Lucas drove up.
“Get in and do it fast. You don't have a lot of time.” Lucas was sitting in the driver's seat motioning for me to get in, his beautiful blonde hair blowing in the breeze. He profile took my breath away, but I didn't have time to ogle, a whole crew of bruisers was on its way.
Not even thinking for a second, I dove through the open window, my feet still sticking out on the outside, while Lucas pulled away and drove directly to the front gate.
Bullets ricocheted off the windshield, spider webbing the material, as we crashed through the gate to the other side.
“I’ve got what we need to bring down Ronald Franks, and once I activate the virus on Willie's program, we won't have to worry about them replicating it...” My eyes widened in horrible realization. “Oh my God, what about Willie? I left him back there to fend for himself!”
“I can’t go back. He'll just have to find someplace to hide until reinforcements arrive.”
That was when I realized that there were sirens coming this way, and it looked like a whole platoon was coming. Logging onto my laptop, I activated the virus, so even if they were able to salvage the hard drive, they would find that everything was destroyed.
“So,” I said as soon as I could catch my breath. “You did hear me back there asking for help.”
“Yeah, but I really couldn't just crash the party, and was hoping that you could find a way out on your own. When I saw you on the first floor, I knew that you could only escape one way and waited for you to arrive at the bottom. Just so you know, I have called our superiors and informed them of everything that was going on, and as long as you have the proof in hand, we should be able to come out of this with a slap on the wrist.”
“Thanks,” I said. A slap on the wrist was nothing to the punch in the face he gave me earlier, or anything else I’d just gone through. I could handle bureaucracies just fine.
Lucas reached his hand over and intertwined his hand with mine. The contrast between my dark skin and his pale skin seemed to fit just perfect. We met the rest of the responders and got checked out, but Lucas kept his eye on me the whole time, giving me a little flutter in my stomach.
CHAPTER 5 - The Aftermath
Everybody at the agency was thrilled, but unfortunately, Willie had become a casualty of this war. When the reinforcements stormed in, they found his body on the bottom of the stairwell riddled with bullets.
Our Superior said, “I want to express my gratitude for all of your work. That flash drive was enough to bring Franks in and make him pay for his part in all of this. It would have been nice to get the program that Willie was using, but I guess it's good enough that it's out of commission. You two did great work, and I am putting you both in for a commendation. Now, go home and get some rest, because you both deserve it.”
Leaving the building, I saw that Lucas had stayed behind, and I used my sleight-of-hand to get his keys without him knowing.
After making my way back to his car—or whoever it belonged to, it was the car h drove. Opening the trunk, I found the envelope and opened it up to find not cash, but spreadsheets of somebody's annual revenue.
“Did you find what you're looking for?” Stevens’s—Lucas’s—voice said behind me.
“I’m sorry Lucas…it’s just that…”
“I know,” he softly interrupted me. “I know that’s what you’re real assignment was. And believe me, this isn’t the first time your boss has done this to me. He thinks if he keeps looking he’ll find something. Jack is just pissed that I was with his wife.”
I suddenly felt very bad about looking through Lucas's stuff. At this point, it was just pure curiosity that drove me to look in the envelope. I trusted Lucas with my life and knew that he wasn't involved in anything illegal.
“Don't blame yourself, he has been out for me for a long time, and you are just one in a long line of people that he has tried to use against me. Although, I do have to say his taste in new agents has greatly improved: You are one of the sexiest women I have ever seen.”
I think that I was blushing, and he really did take me by surprise with that comment.
I tried to change the subject. “What was in the envelope?”
“Oh, that, well my sister gets me to do her taxes every year, and these are just projections for her at-home business. It's not exactly coordinated because she really does have a hard time keeping things straight.”
That was really sweet that he helped out family like that, and it was also a relief to know that he wasn't corrupt and that this was all just a vendetta from a petty man. However, I wasn't thrilled about the affair with the married woman and hoped that it would be well over by now.
“Before you ask,” he told me. “I haven't been with his wife for over a year, but he still doesn't like me and is always trying to make my life hell. That's the reason why I never got to protect the president; because he has done everything he can to stop that from happening.”
He touched my shoulder, and I put my head on his hand, feeling the heat from his body against my own.
I was lost in his eyes.
He lifted my chin and kissed me on the lips, sending an electrical current through my body. I wasn't able to control my libido, and I was finding that I didn't want to. If we were in his apartment right now, I would have crawled all over his body and made him take me in eve
ry room of the house.
“Let’s go back to your place.”
“I have a better idea, Agent Sloan,” he said and winked at me.
We walked back into the building and took the floor that was unoccupied. It looked like somebody was moving in, but there was nobody there, and gave us the perfect venue to explore our feelings for each other.
Our clothes were too tight and constricting for our bodies, and we made short work of them, making them fall at our feet. I was clad in only a white bra and panty set, which while boring, were pretty standard issue for a no-nonsense agent.
He was standing in front of me wearing boxer shorts with hearts all over them, which weren't quite so standard, but fit him to a tee. He looked so cute, but the bulge inside was anything but: it was huge by any standard, and I had never quite seen a white man so well-endowed. He gave much of the black guys I’d seen a run for their money. I was still wearing my 3-inch pumps as he pushed me slowly towards one of the outer offices.
“I love your body. Your skin has been driving me crazy since I first saw you.”
Each of his touches was like being in heaven, and he snapped off my bra with barely a motion, before kneeling down in front of me and taking my panties all the way to the floor. He lifted one leg, and put it over his shoulder, while sliding his tongue down my slit until he found my opening. My anticipation was off the charts, and when his tongue finally made contact, my body responded by thrashing itself against his face.
Behind me, I felt what could only be a desk, and leaned against it as he had his way with my body. His eyes were cast upon me, and I could see a ravenous hunger deep within, which could only be satiated by what I was giving him.
“I want you, I need you Lucas.” I gasped for air as he used his lips to caress the length of my body. When his lips reached my neck, he laid me back on the desk and grabbed by round buns with both of his hands before bringing his lips back down and lightly thrusting inside me.
He didn't disappoint, and drove in and out of me with steady and rhythmic pressure, making me put my other leg around his head while balancing myself with two arms on the desk behind me.
