Diary of A. . . Page 14

by Sylvia Hubbard

Lethal was clean-shaven, with dark chocolate clear skin, thick dark lips and a wide nose. His black eyes were omnipresent and I felt fear, excitement, cold and warmth all at the same time as they looked at me and then right through me.

My breath caught in my throat at this fine ass man. I was instantly mesmerized. Even if I was in danger, I don’t think I could have screamed for help to save my life.

Cassandra was practically trembling as she gazed upon him with open mouth. I realized mine was open, too, when I nudged her to close hers. I actually had to wipe the spit that had started to congeal on my lower lip.

“Mr. Lethal H-Heart, I’d like you to meet my new boss, Ms. Sheryl Banks,” Cassandra said breathlessly. “He’s doing your …” She lost her train of thought because just like me, she couldn’t stop looking at him. “…thing for your f-father.”

Lethal’s cold black eyes took me in from head to toe. I couldn’t tell if the man wanted to slit my throat or fuck me. I swear the office’s temperature went ten degrees lower as he stepped fully in the room, coming straight at me.

My knees went weak. I couldn’t figure out if it was from fear or from sexual tension because damn I just wanted to fuck him so bad. I’ve never wanted to just fuck a man. I usually had to wait until he opened his mouth to find out if I wanted to or not. But this sexy ass dangerous motherfucker was just his own damn aphrodisiac.

“I should thank you for seeing me,” Lethal said, but he didn’t thank me, he just said that sentence.

WTF?! Who the hell was this man?

“I am a busy woman,” I said, trying to sound like he didn’t affect me. I moved to my desk to give myself time to compose my libido and thoughts. Even with the desk between us, I had a feeling that if this man wanted to touch me; a simple desk would be easy to knock out the way.

Cassandra hurriedly rushed out the room. I wanted to scream at her to stay, but I didn’t.

Lethal pulled a rolled up envelope out from his back pocket. I trembled because I thought for sure he was going to pull out a gun.

“Would you like to have a seat, Mr. Heart?” I asked.

“No!” he said harshly and stepped to the desk. “Let’s get something straight about me, Ms. Banks. I don’t do shit for free. I’m all about the Benjamins, but Cee put her life on the line for me once and I owed her one.”

“So I should be honored that she used a favor on me?”

“Let’s just say I got the motherfucking Midas touch and people have killed to get a favor from me.”

  I trembled again.

“I also hate owing favors, but I keep my word.” He handed me the envelope. “I usually don’t have to put much effort to do things, but I had to actually work for this favor and I was pissed the fuck off about that shit. Your father was very good at what he did?”

  “What did he do?”

“Embezzled seven point four million dollars from over thirty seniors, with a condo scheme in Florida and then faked his own death. He hid the money better than they hid Jimmy Hoffa, surfaced under a new identity and is now living better than the president. He’s doubled the money stolen, paid back the seniors he stole it from and now runs a very successful company.” His eyes narrowed at me as if it were my fault or something.

I looked away because if I trembled one more time, I was going to just orgasm out of sexual fear.

  Focus, Sheryl! I told myself.

I forced myself to concentrate and look through the envelope. “So my father is alive, but these papers don’t have his name. Matter of fact, it’s blacked out.”

“I know,” he said obviously. There was a cruel smirk on his lips. “That is where the conundrum falls for you.”

  “I’m confused,” I said.

“You damn well should be. So was I. That’s why they call them conundrums.”

Was he being irritating on purpose? “Mr. Heart, this matter is important to me and my sister’s sanity.”

“Like I said before, I’m all about the Benjamins. And the only favor I owed Cee was to find out if your father was alive. I found the answer. He is. The favor didn’t include me releasing his identity.”

Now I was becoming upset at this. “You’ve come to extract money from me?!” I asked incredulously.

  “No!”

I was really becoming to hate that word out his mouth. It felt firm and indestructible.

“I’ve come to let you know that I have done all I can in getting you all the information you need. But since E. Heasley has paid me not to allow you to know his whereabouts, I can do no more for you.”

I stood up incensed. “You’ve spoken to him.”

  “Of course,” he said obviously.

“How much did he pay you?”

  “Enough.”

“From the money he stole,” I sneered.

That smirk returned. He was enjoying this. “Most likely or maybe it was from the money he made off that money. Either way, I’m a very rich man from the deal. And even if you hired someone else to find out the whereabouts of E. Heasley, you’d be wasting your money. E. Heasley doesn’t want to be found and no one else in this world could possibly find out who he is or where he is, unless he wants to be known. I’m the best of the best, Ms. Banks, and you couldn’t hire anybody who could do a better job than I.”

This man was an arrogant insufferable asshole! Who the hell was he? And why the fuck after he walked out, I was still so turned on?

I collapsed in my chair and looked down at the papers before me. Damn! Damn!

Huffing to myself, I stormed into my bathroom and pulled down my panties. Resting on the sink, I closed my eyes. The moment I touched myself, I could feel my body easily sink into an orgasm.

For the love of heaven’s saints, the man had made me wetter than wet. All I had to do was envision him, those lips, that face and…just as I was about to climax, fuck if my damn imagination chose to think about Theo instead, about him thrusting hard into my pussy.

I know I screamed or shouted or something. But I didn’t care. That was one of the best masturbation sessions I’d had with myself in a long while.

Don’t you hate those orgasms you get by yourself that are soo...damn good that you wish you could have shared them with someone?

And why the hell did I have to make myself come when I knew I could have locked myself in Peter’s office?

Because I wanted one all to myself? Because I knew Peter couldn’t have gotten me off as good as I had gotten myself off.

I took a moment and relished in the orgasm with my eyes closed and my fingers slowly circling my clitoris.

The orgasm had really helped turn my day around. Now I wished I had gone to lunch with Mackeroy after all. He could have given me food and a little stress relief. After playing with myself I now wanted more. Much more. I was going to call Mack as soon as I left work.

So why the hell had I envisioned Theo during my orgasm?

Hell if I know. Dammit, he was only supposed to be a one timer, right?

I bit my lip and open my eyes, disturbed by this thought. If I called Theo again, then I would be officially seeing two men at once.

You want to be with Mackeroy, Sheryl, I told myself.

But I loved what I felt with Theo, even though it had been one time. Shit!

Cassandra reminded me with a knock on the door that my ass was at work, locked up in my private bathroom with my panties down and my legs wide open.

I came out the bathroom after freshening up to find that she had brought a small salad for me and a diet drink.

“The lunch truck was outside and I picked up something for you,” Cassandra said. There was a look of sadness still on her face that she was trying so hard to hide.

“Thanks so much, Cassandra. I’m famished.” I really was famished and started to dig right in the salad.

  She started to hurry out.

“Who is he?” I asked her.

Without being told, Cassandra already knew I was talking about Lethal Heart. “He runs
a security and investigation company. He’s got clearance so secret that even the NSA, FBI and CIA hire him to do jobs. I saved his life really by mistake. Ever since then I’ve been trying to get rid of the favor. Other than having my husband killed for cheating on me, it was the only favor I could think of to use.”

“He’d kill your husband? And get away with it?”

She nodded seriously. “He’s got a lot of power that you couldn’t even begin to imagine. I worked in his private security department, but he decided to shut that part down and laid off everyone in administration. Now he’s just trying to sell that part to someone who he knows he can depend on to make him look good.”

I felt honored that she would use her favor on me. “Thanks, Cassandra.”

“Like I said, I really wanted to use it. I didn’t like him owing me. He’s too much of a temptation. You know what I mean.”

Yes, I knew exactly what she meant.

I wasn’t used to her being so depressed. Near the end of the day, I kept pressuring her to leave early, but she just kept finding more work to do.

I had a follow-up meeting with each of my employees and used that time to warn them to be on top of everything before they left for the day. Then I returned to my office.

Cassandra had left a note saying that she’d stepped away for a second, but that she was going to finish typing up the monthly report before leaving. Our stats were going to look twice as good and I was damn proud of myself.

Walking into my office, I immediately closed the door. I almost jumped out of my shoes at the large dark figure behind it. Poised to scream, my mouth was instantly covered by the man’s large hand.

It was Theo. Smelling and looking good. His cornrows were gone. Now he was freshly shaven bald with a goatee and wearing that security uniform that made him look even bigger. He even had the gun belt around his waist today.

“Ms. Banks, are you okay?” Cassandra asked outside my door.

Theo nodded and released my mouth.

“Umm… Yes,” I said, catching my breath. “I thought I saw a mouse.”

He raised a curious brow as if insulted.

  “But I didn’t,” I finished.

“Okay. Do you need anything else?” Cassandra asked.

  Theo shook his head.

“No. You finish that report and go home. I’ll be done for the day, too, so transfer all my calls to voicemail and I’ll address them later.”

When he knew Cassandra had walked away from the door, Theo locked it and then folded his thick arms across his chest, looking very angry. It would have been almost scary, if I wasn’t so damn turned on.

“You don’t know how to call a motherfucker?” he growled.

  Entry Thirty

Tired and exhausted from the laborious weekend, I returned to work with all my managers intact – thank the lawd – and I had a whole different outlook on life.

I guess you’re wondering what happened after Theo surprised me in my office, huh?

Yeah, well it is very detailed and the three days are just too much for me to post all at once. So I’ll do it in sections and hope that I can fulfill all your curiosities.

  Where was I?

  Oh yeah…

Theo scared the hell out of me, but once I was able to gather my wits, I snapped back. “My fingers work just the same as yours.”

He smirked, but he really didn’t look like he came here to laugh. There was something dark and sinister behind his eyes. This man came with a purpose and it was not to be amused.

“That may be true, but I’ve never been the chaser. Is that what you want from me?”

Flippantly, not liking this uncomfortable feeling and just knowing I had become involved with some crazy ass fool that I might have to get a PPO on, I said, “I never said what I wanted from you, Theo.” I moved behind my desk ready to call security in case he tried something crazy.

He walked up to my desk and leaned over. “I guess you and I have different ideas, because if I just wanted pussy, there are a million other women I could have called.”

“Including your wife?” I mocked, reminding him that he wasn’t divorced yet.

That smirk came and went. “True, but I didn’t want just pussy. I wanted you.”

His flat out honesty shocked me and turned me on.

Too bad he’s crazy! my thoughts screamed. Now get him the hell out this office. The last thing you need is drama up here.

Licking my lips to give myself some time to answer his last statement, I honestly didn’t know what to say to this man. One moment I was scared. The next moment he was saying things that were beautiful music to my ears.

“Maybe I just feel we went a little too fast, Theo, and I’m just trying to slow it all down.”

  “Bullshit.”

Was he doing that mind reading shit again?

“I’m not going to sit and lie to you. I have no reason.”

  “Come to dinner with me.”

Mackeroy would scream if I canceled and if I know him, he was probably going to ask me for dinner tonight.

  “No, thanks,” I said simply.

“I don’t take rejection well when it comes to something I want,” Theo said firmly.

  “Get used to it.”

That half smirk came. “Do you want me to resort to unethical measures?”

Confused, I asked, “I don’t know what you mean.”

“So you’ll let me have you for dinner?”

“Obviously you’ve got wax in your ears. I said no,” I said, becoming very upset. I leaned over my desk two inches from his face daring the motherfucker to do something crazy. “Now leave.”

Theo stood up straight and went over to the door. “See you later? Seven?”

“I’m not going to dinner with you!”

He winked and then left out my office.

Dammit! Why’d he have to be crazy?! I was really pheening for him now that I’d seen him. I also really wished I had accepted his invitation for dinner just so I could get some good loving.

Sitting down and catching my breath, I ran a frustrated hand through my hair and growled to myself. Fuck him being crazy, you could have accepted.

Nope. I’d have some fatal attraction shit going on and then what?

I opened up my home brief to stuff anything I wanted to work on in there. That’s when I realized the Sroban file was still there.

Opening it back up on my desk, I looked at the report.

The Sroban Group had opened ten years ago and was doing minor customer service accounts for small businesses in Detroit. Currently it was certified with several top customer service organizations and was slowly making way as one of the leading customer service companies in the Metro Detroit area.

The research went on to say that there were five employees and two administrators, but it was no one I knew. So this was a competitive company, I surmised, that had gotten to Erin?

Of course! They were on the threshold to being some serious competition for Earl. Why shouldn’t they approach his vice-presidents and glean off the talents that had made Earl successful? It was the American way.

I flipped through the papers some more and came across the assumed names part. I couldn’t believe the name written on the bottom of the page. The same name that had signed the papers to bring the company to life.

  Theopolis Thornton.

  How? Why?

  WTF?!

  Entry Thirty-One

I had to calm myself down, but I couldn’t completely until I had some answers.

Knowing just who to get them from, I threw everything in my brief and rushed out the office to see if I could catch up with Theo. When I arrived in the parking lot, I saw a large gray Expedition about to exit.

Suddenly it stopped, was put into reverse and driven backwards until it came to a final stop in front of me.

Theo was sitting in the driver’s seat looking over at me through the passenger window, which slowly rolled down. “Changed your mind?” he asked curiously
.

  “Sroban,” I said suspiciously.

A deep frown creased his brow. He popped the lock. “Get in.”

“Not until you tell me how your name is on their founding papers and articles of incorporation.”

  “Get in.”

  “No!” I said firmly.

“Then I guess you don’t want to know.” The window started to rise and he began to put the car in drive.

“Wait!” I pressed up against the glass, which instantly stopped moving.

Opening the door, I warily climbed in the passenger side. I didn’t close the door just to be stubborn.

“You’ll risk falling out once I start to drive,” he said.

“I’m not going anywhere with you, Theo. I just want answers.”

“And you’ll get your answers when you go with me.” He spoke as if it was a simple decision.

I closed the door and he took off. After putting on my seatbelt, I found the papers and put them on the armrest between us. “Start talking.”

“Not until we get to our destination.”

  “What destination?”

He checked the watch on his arm. “It’s early, but I’m sure we can find other things to do besides eat.” There was a wicked look in his eyes.

  “I’m not sleeping with you.”

It was scary when he didn’t respond and I wondered why I hadn’t noticed this malevolent side of him before.

Cause you’re a slut and you might as well admit it! my head screamed.

“Where are we going?” I demanded to know.

He changed the subject. “So who is he?”

  “What are you talking about?”

“A woman such as yourself has got to have a main course, even though you might take on appetizers and even dessert every once in a while. But you keep the main course around for … how should I say it? Safety? Security?”

I hated him. “And which do you think you were?”

“From the way you treated me back there in the office, I’d say you were trying to treat me like dessert.”

  “Trying? It was a mistake.”

Theo smirked. “I’m never a mistake,” he said arrogantly.
