One Size Fits All Page 22

by Courtney Cole

We have six more stops before we reach our destination so we’re killing time by reading some of the new comments on my blog post. Tinsel Town Blog shared an article about my post on their book section and since then my post has blown up the internet. It’s crazy. I never in a million years thought my rant would get as many views and reach as many people as it has.

It’s really helped shine a light on the topic of ‘Fuck Boys’ and why girls need to stop allowing assholes to stomp all over their hearts. We need more real life book boyfriends and less douchebags. Even though at the time I was hurt by Jake betraying me, after talking to other women who’ve been in my shoes, I now know that he did me a favor. He helped me realize that I deserve better and refuse to settle for anyone. I deserve to be with a man who respects me, loves me, and shows me every day just how much.

Along with the post going viral, it’s also helped me gain a whole new group of followers on my book blog. I’ve even had some of my favorite authors that have had me fangirling as I open up messages from them in my inbox, messaging to let me know they’d love to gift me a copy of one of their steamiest, or laugh out loud funny novels. I literally made Vance pinch me so I knew for certain I wasn’t dreaming when the first few emails came through.

The biggest perk of all though has to be discovering so many new amazing authors I never knew about. Readers have been freaking rock stars suggesting new smutty reads on my blog post. Because of their suggestions, my ‘to be read list’ has tripled as I end up one clicking every book each author has ever published because I instantly fall in love with their writing.

“Oh my, Gosh. Chris, these are hilarious. These girls are sure as hell ripping Jake a new one.” Shelby laughs as she reads along with me some of the comments I just approved.

I burst out laughing along with her as I scroll through them.

STACEE2183: Oh my fucking God! What a douche nozzle! You’re too good for his sorry ass anyways, Christi!

Book boyfriend locator at your service doll!

  You have got to read:

Say You’ll Stay by Corinne Michaels- it’s an absolute must read that will break your heart and make you fall in love at the same time!

And Into the Nothing by BT Urruela is hella hot! I mean not only is that man hot as hell but damn he can steam up some pages too!

Of course there’s the always amazeballs Emma Hart. Her latest release Stripped Bare will have you heading for the nearest strip club ASAP!

Read them and forget about the asshat!

  XOXO

“Girl, I’ve seen BT on Facebook and met him in person a few months back at that author event I flew down to in Florida. All I can say is WHOA! I was mentally yelling for the NYFD the second that man hugged me. I swear to God my panties combusted right there on the spot!”

“I need to see this man!” she exclaims as she pulls up Facebook on her phone and types in his name. “HOLY SHIT! He’s freaking gorgeous! Just imagine how hot the sex scenes have to be in his book when the man looks like that? You know he has to write from experience. A man that hot has to have some scorching hot sex stories itching to be put to paper. All I have to say is the fact that he’s ex-military only makes him that much hotter! This man’s the epitome of hot ass alpha male.”

Nodding in agreement I say under my breath, “I know right?” as I mentally note to read the book as soon as freaking possible. I have the signed copy on my bookshelf, but I sure as hell won’t be reading it because my number one rule is: never read a signed copy!

So I am definitely going onto Amazon and getting it for my kindle as soon as we’re off of this damn car.

Maribel McSwain: First, erase both of them from your life. Neither one deserve you. Second, Baby girl go to the bookstore or to your favorite reading device and start reading Danielle Jamie’s Savannah series. It starts with Irresistible Desire, Inescapable Desire, Indestructible Desire and finishes with Infinite Desire.

It will give you another perspective on how someone handled the same situation with a Worthless Man Whore, but then finds a Larger Than Life Texas Cowboy that knows how to treat a lady in and out of the bedroom. Kayden is the perfect man to give you many BIG O’S! …emphasis on MANY BIG O’S. It will also give you a lesson on real friends and a real best friend who won’t screw your man. Danielle Jamie does a great job in writing this series, at first it will make you cry, then gets you freaking out mad then, takes you to another level of sexy, steamy, Mcdreamy Texas Cowboy that knows how to melt your panties off and have you screaming out his name… “Kayden.”

Read these books, take your time, heal your heart and find a new best friend. Don’t give your ex and that hoe the power. Take it back and screw them. Kayden will make you scream like no other. Enjoy the books. Can’t wait to hear what you think of the books.

Pointing at my phone, I giggle, “Oh I’ve become very well acquainted with Kayden Knox…especially with his infamous twelve-inch anaconda.”

I notice a few people turn their eyes onto us as Shelby bursts out laughing beside me.

“Damn how did that chick walk when he was through with her? He must keep his kitchen well stocked with ice packs…that’s all I gotta say about that.”

This time our laughter draws the attention of Vance and the guys. They simply shake their heads, smirking at us across the subway car before going back to talking amongst themselves.

Tabitha Wilson: What an ass! Paybacks are hell and karma is a bitch. He’ll get his. I highly suggest that you read Sex Love Repeat by Alessandra Torre. Hot doesn’t begin to describe this book. Make sure you have a towel nearby and do NOT read it in public.

“Wow, with a title like that. It has to be melt your Kindle hot.” I snicker as I read the towel warning. “Geesh, it even comes with a freaking towel warning. I better make sure my batteries for Sam are fully charged.”

Yes, I named my favorite vibrator. I call him Sam after the one and only sex on fucking legs, Sam Hunt. That man’s voice alone gives me orgasms.

Before we know it the guys are shouting to us across the train letting us know our stop is next.

“Ready to go watch our Yankees kick the Red Sox’s asses all the way back to Boston?” Vance asks, draping his arm around my shoulder and walking with me out of the subway and toward the stadium.

I can’t help but feel my body melt against him as I lean into his side and wrap my arm around his waist and walk side by side with him. I love being in his arms more than I like to admit

  Chapter Six

The stadium is packed with people as we maneuver our way up to the concession stand to purchase our beers and snacks. I stick close to Vance’s side so that I don’t lose him in the crowd of people. Shelby, Charlie, and Tony already headed down to our seats which are positioned directly behind the dugout.

As the line slowly begins to move, Vance brings his hand to rest at the small of my back. He ushers me forward as I step in front of him and wait for our turn to order. The heat causes my skin to tingle as I feel it travel through my jersey. I try to focus on the menu board above my head instead of the way my body is reacting to being so close to Vance. His chest brushes against my back as his hand moves to my hip and we take another step forward.

I notice out of the corner of my eye in the line to the right of us a group of girls clad in Red Sox ball caps and jerseys with way too short shorts that leave nothing to the imagination, watching us and especially Vance. It doesn’t surprise me…I’m actually use to the attention he receives from women. They’re constantly throwing themselves at him even more so when we’re out together.

It’s no news to me that I’m no freaking super model; I barely reach five feet three, and I’m a little on the curvy side since I have a wicked addiction to chocolate covered pretzels and Sour Patch Kids. But I stay active hitting the gym three times a week, and I make an effort to go for a run at least every day I don’t make it into the gym. I may not have Carrie Underwood legs or Jillian Michaels’ abs, but I
have enough self-confidence to say that I am pretty.

I’m damn well pretty enough to get a guy like Vance. It’s only after a run in with snotty mean girls who look like they have too much Botox in their face and too big for their body silicone tits, do I find myself picking every inch of myself apart in my bedroom mirror. Vance is gorgeous—the women he dates are even more so. Brynn could’ve stepped up onto a Victoria’s Secret runway and no one would be able to tell the difference between her and the pros. So it’s no wonder I guess as to why I’ve always stayed in the friend zone with Vance even after his relationship with Brynn fell apart.

The couple with their kids are finally finished up their order when the three women who’ve spent the last two minutes giggling like idiotic hyenas’ all the while keeping their eyes focused on Vance, step up beside us. They’re so close if I sneezed hard enough right now I’d successfully head butt one of the skanks.

“Ready to watch your Yanks lose?” The tall Taylor Swift look-alike asks flirtatiously as she tilts her head up and bats her fake lashes at Vance.

At first I don’t think he realizes they’re talking to us, and I can’t hide the smile cracking across my face as they glance at one another with mild shock. They must not be used to men not zeroing in all of their attention onto them and their fake boobs threatening to spill out over their tops. I shift slightly, turning to glance at them over my shoulder, which draws Vance’s attention down to me and then to the group of women.

“About as ready as you three are to watch your team crawl back to Boston with their tails between their legs.” I don’t miss the glare I receive from the trio of bitches, but I let it roll off of my back and smirk up at Vance who gives my waist a gentle squeeze, silently telling me to behave.

Oh, but, Vance. Where’s the fun in that?

There’s nothing I love more than having words with Red Sox fans and Patriot fans. They are so easy to get a rise out of it which makes it not as fun as I would like it to be.

“We’ll see about that.” Her eyes cut from me quickly up to Vance as her tone suddenly changes from bitch to seductive. “What do ya say we make a little wager? Make the evening a little more interesting?”

Seriously. Can these girls not take a hint and move along? No, why would they do that? They’d much rather stand here and throw themselves at Vance instead. I find myself suddenly praying to God to either strike down a bolt of lightning to eliminate these twats from our presence or to move this goddamn line along so that we can get our asses to our seats.

“What kind of wager?” Vance asks.

The leggy skank bag of the group who seems to have her sights set on Vance, takes another step toward him closing in the space between them. Her body is practically pressed against his now. This bitch must not understand the meaning of invading one’s personal space. Right now she’s invading his personal space and making my fricking blood pressure soar through the roof.

“If my Sox beat your Yanks…you’ll take me out sometime…”

  Wow this bitch is bold.

  Hello! I’m standing right here!

Is it that damn obvious that he and I are not together? Whenever we’re in public or at home, we’re very touchy, flirty people. It’s simply how our relationship is. It’s why so many of our friends are always asking us if we’re secretly together even though we’re not. I hate the idea of him with anyone else. It’s a shitty situation. I can’t be with him, and I don’t want anyone else to be with him.

But it’s simply out of my control and an unrealistic and selfish thing for me to want. If I can’t be with him, I most certainly don’t want Boston Barbie to have him. The more I try to cope with my breakup with Jake and try to keep my oath to swear off men, the more I find my buried feelings for Vance coming back up to the surface. It was easier to deal with when I had the distraction of a relationship, or when I knew he was engaged and there simply would never be a life beyond friendship for us. But now that we’re both single and my body seems to come to life every time we’re near one another, it’s making it extremely difficult to keep rationalizing my decision to never confess my feelings to him.

One thing for certain, I’m leaving this ball field single and dateless as is Vance. Because there’s no way in hell I’ll allow these chicks to sink their acrylic nails into him.

One reason being, Yankee fans don’t date Red Sox fans. It’s unnatural!

The thought of Vance dating anyone makes my stomach coil and vomit rise into my throat. The idea of him dating a Red Sox fans makes me want to jump off of the fricking George Washington bridge!

Vance lets out a nervous laugh as he brings his body closer to mine. My skin prickles with awareness as I feel his fingers slide to the front of my body, his palms spreading across my stomach and pinning me to his rock solid wall otherwise known as his abdomen.

“As fun as that wager sounds, I’ll sadly have to decline it. Sorry…” His words taper off as the older gentleman behind the counter finally shouts, Next, and waves us forward.

This isn’t the first time nor do I doubt it’ll be the last time that Vance or I use one another to dodge a stage one clinger who doesn’t know how to take no or not interested when we’re out together and aren’t into whoever it is trying to hit on us.

Taylor wannabe pouts up at Vance as we tread forward to the front counter and leave her behind us in line. “If you change your mind, look me up sometime.” I watch as she digs a business card out of her purse before lunging forward like a fucking cat, shoving it into Vance’s hand.

He glances down at the card donned with a hair dryer and scissors, along with her name and number.

So the bimbo’s a hair dresser? Sadly, for her, I’ve seen better hair on a stray dog out on the street rather than the bleached mess that she has on her head.

“You sure you don’t want a chance to date Miss Boston back there? Oh just think of the perks you’d receive dating a hairdresser,” I tease.

Furrowing his brows together, his face twists in disgust as he crumples up the business card and stuffs it into his pocket. “I’m good, thanks.” He flashes me a small smile before releasing his hold on me and boxing me in at the counter. He peers over the top of me with little effort— seeing he towers over me by an entire foot— as he turns his attention to the gentleman behind the counter and begins ordering our beers and snacks.

Finally, after almost twenty minutes we head down to our seats rejoining everyone. Getting as comfortable as one can in stadium seating I squeeze in between Shelby and Vance to watch the ballgame.

The smell of roasted peanuts, beer, and hotdogs fill the space along with the contagious excitement that comes with attending a game. I feel my skin tingling and my heart racing as I sit on the edge of my seat and watch as my favorite player, Jared Sterling, steps up to bat.

Yankees are down by one run with the score 1 to 0. But the night is still early—they have plenty of time to bury the Sox into the ground.

Of course my eyes automatically zero in on his perfectly toned ass that looks downright sinful tucked into his gray uniform. Setting up his stance, he draws the bat back and waits on the first pitch. Bases are loaded and the pressure is on him to nail it into the crowd and run the bases to claim his 10th homerun this season.

He doesn’t move when the first two pitches are thrown. Finally, on the third, he swings hard, and I find myself holding my breath as I hear the bat connecting with the ball. My hand somehow ends up on Vance’s thigh as I feel my fingernails digging into his jeans. I watch as the ball soars through the air and glides effortlessly over the wall and into the crowd.

Fireworks shoot off and the Jumbo-tron lights up with the words HOMERUN flashing on it as he begins to round the bases and his teammates make their way to home.

Jumping up out of my seat with Vance and all of our friends right alongside me, we all cheer along with the roar of the crowd. My ears ache from the screams vibrating around me as everyone claps and cheers on Jare
d as he finally stomps his foot onto the home plate.

“Wow! That was freaking awesome to see! I can’t believe we just witnessed Jared Sterling hitting his tenth homerun this season! That man…” I end with a dreamy note as my eyes get all googly over the stupid hot baseball player—who I’ll never ever in this lifetime or the next get to live out my dirty, dirty fantasy with.

  A girl can dream though.

Boy, do I ever freaking dream. He’s always covered on every paper on the street as I walk to work or simply around the city. The world loves him and sure as hell loves to gossip about him and his array of women constantly in and out of his penthouse.

Except for two nights ago. For some crazy ass reason I can’t understand, instead of Jared giving me mind-blowing orgasms while I laid on a lounge poolside with the warm sun kissing my skin and a gentle breeze keeping me cool, it was Vance. I woke up in a daze completely thrown off by the dream. It was one of those dreams you have sometimes where it feels so real that you find yourself dissecting the dream and replaying the scenes you do remember over and over in your head.

Vance claps loudly beside me before putting his fingers into his mouth and letting out a deafening whistle beside of my head. “That was fucking epic, dude. Wow! 4 to 1 now, baby!”

Plopping back down in our seats, we watch as the next player, AJ Hayes, heads up to bat. He goes to step up to the base and get into position, when their coach suddenly calls a time. We watch as the umpire grants it and the player jogs off of the field and back into the dugout in front of us.
