  “But why? What happened?”

“Russ was irritated as hell when he overheard you mention that I talked to Sidney on your behalf. Before he could launch into a lecture that I truly didn’t want to hear, I explained a few pertinent facts to him.”

  “Such as?”

“One, I didn’t like working under his supervision. Two, I didn’t like working under anyone’s supervision. I’ve talked about starting my own agency for a long time now.”

“You mentioned that you shared a few pertinent facts. What was the third?”

  “That I love you.”

“You told Russ you loved him?”

He laughed, pulled her toward him. “You know what I mean.”

  “Yeah.”

“And I told him that you and I were going into business together.”

Sam pulled back. “You…that’s what you want?”

“I do. You’re too good. I can’t let you work for someone else.”

The sincerity in his voice touched her deeply. “Oh, Michael.”

“So, how does Lewis and Bradford sound to you?”

“It sounds wonderful, and almost as good as Bradford and Lewis.”

  “It was my idea.”

“Bradford comes before Lewis in the alphabet.”

“True.” He nuzzled her neck just below her ear and began to work his way down.

When she caught her breath, Sam asked, “So, it’s settled?”

His head lifted and he smiled. “I’ve got a better idea. How about Lewis and Lewis?”

Her heart did a crazy roll. “As in Samantha Lewis and Michael Lewis?”

“You just have to have top billing, don’t you?” But he chuckled. “So, is that yes?”

  “It’s better than yes.”

In the dwindling light, he squinted at her. “What’s better than yes?”

Pushing him down on the mattress, Sam said, “Let me show you.”
