I let go of my boobs and put my hands on my hips. “Okay, who are you?” I demanded. Running into one of the gladiator’s descendants would be rare enough, but two would be ludicrous.
Someone was messing with me.
Caveman smiled and crossed his arms. “Does this mean you don’t want to fuck, Marley?”
I gasped and actually staggered back a couple of feet. “How did you…what did you say?”
“You really don’t recognize me?” He appeared to be genuinely insulted. “You’re not just acting?”
It took me a moment to answer while I searched my memory. “No.”
“From Danoch Labs?”
“How do you know where I work?” Was this really happening to me?
“Because that’s where I work too.”
Granted, it was a huge building. I admit I didn’t know every employee, but this guy I’d remember, I’m sure. “No.” I refused to accept it. The ramifications were too horrifying. If we were cohorts then that meant this guy had already fucked me in Rome, and in Arizona, and almost here as well. I’d be the office slut.
“Yes,” he insisted. “You were given the Pocket Jumper to try out.”
And if he was traveling around in the past then that meant, “You have one too.”
He smiled and nodded.
“I don’t understand. How were you able to be everywhere I was?” Except the knight. I knew he hadn’t been him.
Caveman stared at my tits while I spoke but then snapped his eyes back up to my face. “Time is a precarious thing. Did you really think we’d just hand out these devices and not monitor them?”
“We?” My God, was he upper management?
“Each of you given a Pocket Jumper had a tracking device installed on it. My Jumper was actually linked with yours. It showed me everything you scanned. Every place you intended to go, my Jumper would go as well.”
No way. “But I would step through and find a guy already there in that time.”
“Yes, but I could set my Jumper to take me through several minutes, even hours, before you arrived—enough time to get into position. One simple flick of the switch and it was easily accomplished.”
He was full of shit. “What about the fifteen minute timer? You’d have vanished before me.”
“My Jumper has no such timer.”
“But, they told us…”
He held up his hand to stall my rant. “I know what you were told. And yes, your devices do have that timer as you saw for yourself. But ours don’t. There doesn’t have to be a set time that you can stay.”
“There doesn’t?” Damn, I could have fucked for hours. My head practically spun with all the crazy thoughts running through it. He’d been on to me this entire time.
As though reading my mind, Caveman smiled devilishly at me. “Of course, I had no idea what you were up to, not until I saw you with that medieval knight.”
Heat sprang to my cheeks as I recalled exactly what had occurred with the knight. What was worse were all the other scenarios that this guy had not only witnessed, but been a part of.
“Speaking of time,” he said, staring at my tits again.
“Forget it. I’m not fucking you. I don’t care if you fire me.”
He looked shocked. “Fire you? My God, Marley, this has been the best week of my life.”
“I’ll bet.”
“Look, you may not remember me, but I remember you. I’ve seen you almost every day for the past six months and I couldn’t even get you to notice me.”
That was shocking. “You’ve watched me?” Creepy, but sweet. I smiled a little.
He smiled back. “Every day.”
I could see his cock was tenting his tunic. “I’m gonna disappear in a few minutes.” I saw the disappointment cross his face. “But I could come right back.”
He reached out and took my hand. “I’d like that.” I stepped toward him and my arms went up around his neck. His head lowered and he kissed me hard.
I pulled back for a second. “What’s your name? Your real name.”
“Dan,” he said. “But you can call me Danny.”
“I’d like that,” I said.
Then I kissed him quick before I vanished.
