“The sample will hopefully arrive at Gentry Tech soon and then maybe we'll have an answer,” I said. “For now, have you had a sci-psych look at the bodies?”

“We don't have a sci-psych in this council house,” Dan said. “They're sending us one. He should arrive tomorrow.”

“All right. What about the other bodies?” Killian asked. “We were told that eight more were found.”

“All the same,” Dan said and waved toward yet another folder.

I looked through it. “We've got some younger people, another homeless man, but also a stockbroker and a housewife. Is there a connection between any of them?”

“Not that we can find. Not beyond them living in this area and dying in a similar manner.” Dan shrugged. “But if it really is a drug, that's about normal. Missouri is one of the top states for drug use and it infects every social circle. You'd be surprised who gets caught up in narcotics.”

“I wouldn't,” Killian muttered. “Money doesn't stop people from using drugs to feel good, it just gives them more options.”

  “Exactly,” Dan agreed.

“But they're all humans?” I asked.

  “Yes.”

“Has anyone spoken to the local hunters?” I asked.

“Not yet. We want more evidence than a hint of magic to take to them.”

“Pretty much what Murdock said,” I said to Kill.

“You expected different?” Killian lifted a dark auburn brow.

“I thought maybe someone might have asked the local hunters for their opinion at least.”

“Honestly, Seren, we don't like messing with the hunters unless we have to,” Dan admitted. “I know that sounds bad, but Kansas City is a tough town and its hunters are equally tough.”

“I see,” I murmured. I didn't; hunters are hardcore everywhere but then, so are extinguishers.

“Plus, notifying them would mean notifying the Fairy Council and our Council has forbidden that at this point.”

“Now, that makes more sense.” I went back to looking over the photographs of the dead. “They all look...”

“Happy,” Dan's tone contradicted the word.

“Yes.” I scowled at the shots. “That's not normal, is it? I mean, it's not normal for drug overdoses?”

“No. The high is enjoyable, I'm sure, but generally, the death isn't,” Killian answered. “A lot of times, it's messy as well, but all of these corpses are clean—no vomit or foam at the mouths or even blood.”

“Just the normal excretions of corpses,” Dan said.

  “Gross,” Conri muttered.

“Coffee, Sir!” A young, blond man came into the room with a tray of coffee mugs, a carafe, and all the extras.

“I'll get that, Tom,” another man came up behind him and took the tray.

The second man was African American, fit, and in his forties. He wore his dark hair closely cropped and his jeans loose. Big block letters advertised a local BBQ joint on his T-shirt. It wasn't surprising to see a non-Irish councilman. Extinguishers are all made so by birth—born into one of the Five Great Families of Teagan, Sloane, Kavanaugh, Murdock, and Sullivan. But council members were chosen for their psychic talents and didn't have to be previously affiliated with the Human Council in any way.

“Thanks, Wayne!” Tom grinned at him, then us before he hurried out.

“Ah, Wayne, I'm glad you're back,” Dan said as Wayne deposited the tray on a bare section of the table. “You know Killian but this is Ambassador Seren and her guards, Conri and Felix. Everyone, this is Councilman Wayne Williams.”

I grinned at him as I held out my hand. “Nice alliteration with the name. You sound like a superhero.”

“Or a rock star.” Councilman Williams winked a dark eye at me.

“Wayne was out investigating the site where the latest body was found,” Dan explained as he waved a hand encouragingly toward the coffee.

I poured myself a cup as I asked, “Find anything?”

“I did.” Williams grinned broadly as he pulled something out of his pocket and set it on the table. “The last victim died outside the library. Her purse was stolen before the cops found her, but I managed to find the purse. It had been shoved under a shelf inside the library.”

“They robbed a dead body and then went into the library to get rid of the evidence?” I asked.

“Yeah. I assume it never occurred to the cops to look in the library. Which is likely why the thief went there,” Williams said. “They pulled out the cash and dumped the rest. I found this in an inner pocket of her purse.” He tapped the item he'd placed on the table.

Killian lifted a small baggie—the sort used by drug dealers everywhere. He frowned at the picture printed on it. “Is that a lizard?”

I took the baggie from him and peered at the circular black symbol. “Yep, that's a lizard. Looks like it's eating its own tail, sort of like an ouroboros.”

“Does it mean anything?” Dan asked. “Like with the Fey?”

“Not that I know of.” I looked at my guards and they both shook their heads. “But it's something. Good work, Councilman Williams.”

  “Wayne,” he insisted.

I nodded to him. “Are you assigned to our team, Wayne?”

“Just helping out where I can.” Wayne shrugged. “I'll tag along with you guys if you don't mind.”

“Not at all,” Killian answered for us. “We can always use a sharp mind like yours.”

“And a few more clues,” I muttered.

“Hopefully, we'll have more by morning,” Dan said.

“Hopefully, they won't include additional dead bodies,” Killian added.

  Chapter Twelve

After meeting the extinguisher team Head Councilman Teagan had assembled for us and approving of his choices, Killian, my guards, and I were shown to some guest rooms and left to get a good night's rest. Of course, Kill and I had no intention of going straight to bed.

“Are you sure you want to have sex with me when your girlfriend's in the same house?” I whispered conspiratorially to my husband as he crawled up the bed and over my naked body.

“Ha-ha.” Killian stopped at my thighs and bent to bite me there.

I made an approving sound and spread my legs wider.

“Oh, really?” He asked with a smirk. “You think that you're just going to spread your thighs for me and I'll lick you until you scream?”

  “That's the plan.”

“Yeah. Okay.” Killian dove between my legs.

I sighed in pleasure as his full lips moved sensuously over my sex. Killian had let his hair down and the heavy, auburn waves caught the light from the bedside lamp and came to life like flames. His broad shoulders, thick with muscle, pushed my legs even further apart as he made growling sounds of delight. My hands went to his face, bracketing his temples before sliding into his hair and pushing it back so I could watch him.

Beyond the drawn curtains, someone was selling magic drugs to humans, but my husband was making me forget all of that and I wanted more. A thick finger worked into my core and then thinned into something longer. Killian thrust that slick appendage into me, bending it up to hit a most pleasurable spot. My back arched on a cry. Another finger worked into me but didn't stay for long. It withdrew after a few seconds and sought another entrance a bit further down. A tiny tip of tail tickled me there, wet from its previous incarnation as a finger, and then slowly penetrated me.

“Oh, Gods!” I moaned as that tail went deeper and spread me wider.

Killian looked up at me, his snake eyes—freed from their glamour—alight with magic and love. He slid his free hand up my belly to grasp my breast tightly and I covered that hand with mine, clasping it to me. His tongue started a wicked flicking as his transformed fingers writhed inside me. It was a naughty pleasure that only Killian could give to me.

“Enough!” I cried and pulled on his ear.

Killian chuckled as he lifted himself above me and withdrew his tails until they were fingers again. He cra
wled up further and kissed me—deeply and possessively. I tasted sex on his tongue and it made me shiver. My hands moved up his sculpted chest, luxuriating in the silken feel of his skin, then coasted around his waist and down to grip his tight ass. I pulled him forward, anxious for more.

“Give me a chance for a little foreplay,” Kill whined as he pulled out of our kiss.

“If you must.” I sighed in mock irritation.

Killian's laughter vibrated against my throat as he kissed his way down to the crest of one breast and tongued it ardently. His hips settled between mine, his thick erection pressing into the notch of my sex, and I clawed at his shoulders in need.

“No, I can't wait,” I snarled. “Give it to me now, Kill.”

Killian sucked my nipple as he lifted his head, freeing it with a pop, and grinned at me impishly. “All of it?”

  “All of it,” I purred.

  “I'll need a little help.”

I growled in frustration and shoved him over, onto his back. Killian laughed and spread his legs so I could settle between them. His magnificent cock rose proudly, flushed at the tip and weeping with need. I sympathized with it. Just below that blushing rod, between its base and his testicles, another cock started to emerge. It was slightly longer and thinner than the main shaft but just as beautiful. My husband had a hemipenis like a snake. Yes, two cocks, but the second one only emerges when the first one's spent or when Killian calls it forth.

I took the top rod in hand as I moved my mouth over the semi-soft lower one. It hardened and lengthened across my tongue as I closed my lips firmly around it. Killian groaned deeply—gutturally—and his hand went to my face. He brushed my hair back, just as I had done with him, and stared down at me with those vibrant snake eyes. I moved over him rapidly, dragging my tongue along the veined base and twirling it around the plum tip as I continued to stroke the shaft above. The musk of my man rose around me; I breathed it in and groaned it out.

“Okay! Okay!” Killian cried out as if for mercy. “That's wet enough.”

I gave him one last, long lick so that he was dripping and then rose onto my knees, brushing my cheek against his top cock as I did. Killian made a brutal sound and lurched up as he shoved me back, following me down to the bed. With a snarl, he grabbed my knees and lifted them out, to the sides, exposing my most intimate places. I reached between us and guided his bottom shaft into my bottom hole, working myself onto it until my body closed around the tip.

Once Killian was settled there, I helped him glide the top shaft into my sex. He panted anxiously until I had both rods lodged firmly, then started a rocking motion that he'd perfected. Easing in and out at the top and then the bottom, he see-sawed his cocks into me as I writhed and tried to restrain the urge to impale myself upon them both at once. Once my passages were open enough to receive him smoothly, Killian gave a violent shove, sliding both cocks deep, and we both groaned in relief.

“Now, fuck me!” I growled in his ear. “Fuck me with those two thick cocks, Blair.”

Killian made a rutting, growling sound and started slamming savagely into my body. I dug my nails into his ass and pulled him even deeper. The sheer, blissful agony of his dual invasion made my head spin. Stretched in two places at once but with only one man between my thighs; it was heaven. My body was still learning to accept that this feeling could come from only one man. It knew the pleasure of welcoming more than one shaft into itself at once but one man in two places? That confused my zinging nerve endings a bit. It felt as if there should have been another body below me. But that confusion lifted me into a state of mindless bliss.

I took my knees from Killian's grip and pulled them even further back. He leaned over me, braced himself on the bed, and thrust even deeper. My sheaths tightened around him and my thighs went tense—the signs that I was getting close. Killian panted and snarled like a wild thing. His hair swung around his desire-sharpened face and the cords in his neck stood out. My body couldn't take anymore, it tumbled into climax.

“I love you,” I said breathlessly before I began to moan.

Killian held out until I was shivering into aftershocks, then gave a guttural cry, pulled out, and came across my chest in two hot streams.

  Chapter Thirteen

The chiming of my scry phone woke me the next morning. I groaned and brushed Killian's hair out of my face irritably. He was spooning me but in an aggressive way—almost completely curled around me. I untangled myself from his grip and reached for the phone. With an elbow aimed at Killian's stomach and a yawn aimed at the world in general, I flipped open the scry phone's case and touched the slice of crystal. The gathering mist in the clear quartz solidified into the face of my Uncle Dylan.

“Hey,” I said groggily. “What time is it?”

“It's 6 AM here,” Dylan snapped. “Which means it's 8 AM there. Why are you still in bed? Aren't you on a mission or whatever it is the humans call it?”

Despite it being 6 AM in San Francisco, my uncle looked impeccable in a business suit, with his short, black hair brushed back and his pale skin flushed as if freshly washed. But then again, he did live at his office. I mean that both literally and figuratively; he has an apartment attached to his office and work is pretty much all he does.

Killian groaned awake and sat up behind me. He squinted at the phone. “What's up, D?”

“Why him?” Dylan asked me as he shook his head in disapproval. “The Kings of Seelie and Unseelie, yes, of course. I even understand Tromlaighe. But him?” He waved a hand at my disheveled husband. “Why, Seren?”

“Take it up with Danu.” I pulled the sheet up as Killian slid out of bed. “And good morning to you too, Uncle Dylan.”

“The D stands for douche,” Killian whispered to me as he headed for the bathroom.

  I snickered as Dylan frowned.

“See? He's not even smart enough to know that fairies have excellent hearing,” Dylan said.

“Can you stop tormenting him?” I whined. “We both know that you like Killian and we have more important things to talk about.”

  “I suppose.”

“Kill,” I called out. “Hurry up, I have to pee.”

“Oh, that's charming. I'm so glad my brother has taught you some manners.” Dylan rolled his cerulean eyes; they looked human but that was due to a glamour.

“Hey, I just got up and I had a long night so cut me some slack.”

Dylan grimaced. “I have the results from the blood sample the Human Council sent. Your father told me about the situation and I must insist that the Fairy Council be informed at once.”

“Can I have the results first?” I asked dryly.

  He grimaced again.

Killian came out of the bathroom.

“Oh! Hold that thought!” I handed Killian the phone and hurried into the bathroom.

I heard Dylan ask, “She's gone to relieve herself, hasn't she?”

“That's what people do in the morning, Uncle Douche,” Killian drawled. “You'd know that if you were a real person and not a cyborg.”

“A cyborg?” Dylan asked with distaste.

“A douchy fairy cyborg,” Killian amended.

“Put my niece back on this scry before I end it!”

“I'm coming!” I shouted. “Just hold on.”

I washed my hands rapidly and grabbed a towel to dry them as I hurried back to the bedroom. Killian passed me the phone—which I made sure to keep at face level—and went back into the bathroom.

“Don't you want to hear this?” I called after Kill.

“I'd rather hear it from you after I've had a hot shower,” he muttered.

“Fair enough.” I looked back at Dylan. “So what is it?”

“The sample did indicate magic. Whatever magic was used—”

“What—” I started to cut him off.

“I don't know what magic that was so don't ask me,” he cut off my cut off. “Really, Seren, you should know our capabilities by now.”

  “How the hell would
I know that? I'm not a scientist and aren't you developing new techniques and stuff every day?”

“Yes, new techniques and stuff.” Dylan gave me a sardonic look. “As I was saying, whatever magic was used, it altered the main ingredient in the... concoction.”

  “The drug.”
