“Stop blathering and pull yourself together, Killian,” Raza growled. “You give beasts a bad name.”
“Hah!” Killian let go of his mother to point at Raza. “I got you to admit to the beast thing. Beast Brothers for life!”
“And that's forever,” Tiernan pointed out.
“Danu help me,” Raza muttered.
“I think she already has,” I whispered.
I looked around at my family and then laid my hands over the next generation; growing inside me. My stare settled on Tiernan, and he smiled softly at me; his expression blissful. I had a sudden memory of him standing in my driveway; silver armor shining in the Hawaiian sunlight, and face set into stern lines. How far we had come, and what a magnificent journey it had been.
This is only the beginning, Danu whispered in my mind.
I smiled brighter and knew that she was right. Life had just begun.
Grammar Giggles
And just for a little giggle, here are some grammar mistakes found by my editor Michelle Hoffman and by myself, during the editing of this book.
Correct Line: “Ah, yes; the depths of my debauchery.” He licked his lips as he sauntered over. “Shall we plumb them together?”
Giggle: “Ah, yes; the depths of my debauchery.” He licked his lips as he sauntered over. “Shall we plump them together?” (I laughed so hard at this one.)
Correct Line: “The Helmet of Invisibility that Perseus wore to kill Medusa,” Dagur said.
Giggle: “The Helmet of Invisibility that Perseus war to kill Medusa,” Dagur said. (I swear; sometimes it's like my hands are just transcribing the voices in my head, and this is what happens.)
Correct Line: “Steady, dude,” Killian murmured as he continued to concentrate.
Giggle: “Steady, dud,” Killian murmured as he continued to concentrate. (Funny how one letter takes a dude and makes him a dud.)
