“We have to see,” the nurse pleaded, and gave a grunt. “We can’t help you, if you won’t let us look at them.”
Redemption reached out and brushed his fingers along my arm, before he cupped my hand in his, stilling the shakes.
The beeps of the monitors were so loud…so damn loud…Titus…Gabriel… I turned my head to Rival, who leaned against the wall. There was blood on his face…and black blood smeared over his shirt. I stared at the yellow pants and, for the life of me, couldn’t quite make the image fit.
A cry tore free from Gabriel’s room, and it was like a knife plunged into my heart. I pushed the cup toward Redemption and took a step.
He needed me…they all needed me.
“Let me,” my father murmured, and made for the doorway.
There was a second before he disappeared where I saw the future…the future with a war. Prince Absolon would be coming for us now…and, unlike last time, he wouldn’t come alone.
“Easy, brother,” Lucifer murmured as the Heavenly light flared once more. “I’m here now. I’m right here.”
“Luce?” whimpered Gabriel. “Is that you?”
“It’s me…I’m here now. Right here…no one’s going to hurt you…any of you…ever…ever again.”
