Serving Sera Page 7

by Bonnie Rose Leigh

Digging into his chest, he reached for the heart. He needed to destroy the vampire’s heart to truly kill him. The white tigers were oddly silent, not attacking like he’d expected, leaving him free to dig and rip into the chest until the heart was shredded inside the vampire’s chest cavity.

Backing away, Noah looked at the decaying corpse of the vampire. Within seconds of the heart’s destruction, the vampire began to turn to ash. Turning around, he sought Chance. He found him standing over the dead body of the wolf and the two white tigers.

Noah shook his head. “Show off. Three to one, huh.”

Chance shrugged. “What can I say? You’re getting old. Why don’t we go inside to our mate and let her know that Grakis is history?”

Noah nodded. Looking around at the blood-soaked snow, he couldn’t help but think that something, someone had evaded them. Shaking his head at his folly, he smiled at Chance. “Yeah, you’re right. Let’s go celebrate by taking our mate back to bed.”

  Epilogue

The Demon Leonard watched the child from beneath a tree some distance from the house where she lived. Her pure soul captivated him. For months, he’d watched her, knowing that soon she would be his.

When his summoner had died, setting him free to roam the Earth causing death and mayhem, he’d intended on leaving Serenity far behind. After all, the Earth was vast and it had been many years since he’d last visited.

Then he’d seen her and all his plans had changed. The child had untapped power—great power. He needed her if he wanted to shed the body he possessed and become a corporeal being again.

In just days, the veil between the worlds would thin. On Imbolc, he’d take the child and perform the ritual. With one last glance at the sleeping child, the demon turned away. He had much to do to prepare for the child’s sacrifice. It was time he called in his lesser demons. He’d waited millennia to walk to Earth again. Nothing would stop him now. Nothing.

  About the Author

Bonnie Rose Leigh has been enthralled with the written word since childhood. When she ran out of things to read, she created her own stories. Now, she is a multi-published author and lives in a small town in Upstate, New York. She spends most of her time on the computer either writing or visiting with friends. When not busy on the computer, her free time is consumed with reading. It doesn't matter what genre the book is either, though she is partial to romance novels. Her favorite after-hours hobby is sprawling in a chair with a book clutched in her hands and a cup of cocoa sitting nearby.

Bonnie would love to hear from each and every one of you. Make sure you subscribe to her monthly newsletter or check out her blog as it will be updated regularly with release dates, excerpts and online appearances.
