Reapers and Angels Page 2

Sebastian smoothed the black slacks down a bit before putting on Calis’s shirt which was a nice short sleeved dress shirt in red. Sebastian unbuttoned the top two buttons for Calis’s comfort and tucked the shirt in. Then a belt was placed on the boy, black trouser socks, and black loafers.

After they were done Sebastian went back into the dining room and picked up his cat who was still lounging on the floor. Calis watched as Sebastian played with his cat that sat and purred on the man’s lap as it kneaded Sebastian’s leg with its paws.

“Sebastian, shouldn’t you be helping Christian with breakfast?”

Calis asked finally having enough of Sebastian playing with his cat. The man had been playing with the cats at the shelter for who knows how long before he came home. It was ridiculous.

  “Christian can handle breakfast Calis.”

Sebastian said as he played with the cat’s paws admiring them and squishing them gently in his hand. Sebastian loved his new cat and could spend the whole day with him.

“Well that cat had better be housetrained since I will not have cat piss all over my floors and furniture.”

Calis said in annoyance as he gathered his newspaper and started to read. Apparently, there were a string of murders involving young boys near one of the churches in town. Calis wanted to go investigate this even if Sebastian would throw a fit. Calis enjoyed mysteries and solving murders. Perhaps they could even go undercover for a while.

  “No Calis.”

Sebastian said reading his little husband’s thoughts. Calis was a walking sign for kidnappers and murderers, Calis was not going to put himself in harm’s way for any reason.

“But Sebastian, we may find the murderer. You know we were always good at these things.”

Calis said with a pleading in his eyes that usually made Sebastian fall all over himself to do whatever Calis wanted him to do. This time it was not going to work though.

“No. You are not going to be bait for a murderer. We have gone over this before Calis, you are to remain in my care at all times and remain safe. I will not lose you to some foul play just so you can play detective again.”

Sebastian looked at Calis sternly since he was going to put his foot down on this one. The boys found from these murders had been mutilated and Sebastian could just see Calis strung up as they were with nothing recognizable left of his beloved. If anyone so much as thought to hurt his little Calis, they would suffer a legendary death.

“Damn it Sebastian I am an adult. You cannot keep me sheltered my whole damn life. All I am asking is for us to look into it. I won’t be bait this time I swear it. Just help me find the murderer. I don’t want any more boys dying needlessly when we can do something about it.”

Calis stated angrily since he wanted to be a part of something big like this in London before they left to go to Florida. It would be the last opportunity in a long time that Calis saw them being able to do as they once did in the past.

“Fine, I will look into it. You however will keep your nose out of it. I will bring you the information and you can look it up online, however you are going nowhere near that place and if by chance things start to head our direction with these murders I am pulling us out of it. I will not have you or Ashton become targets for this animal that has been slaughtering children.”

Sebastian said firmly and Calis did a little happy dance in his head. Calis swore he would be good if Sebastian helped him solve this case.

“Perhaps you can contact Kingsly and find out if the reapers have found anything in the life records of these boys who had been killed. It could help the police if they did and we could send an anonymous tip their way.”

Calis smiled while reading the paper. At least while they were packing they would have something interesting to do.

“Very well, I will contact Kingsly after breakfast.”

Sebastian then set his cat down and went to the kitchen to see what was taking Christian so long to get breakfast ready. When he got into the kitchen he saw Christian making shaped pancakes on the griddle. Some were in the shape of bunnies’ others were in the shape of spiders and there were a few cat shaped ones. All the pancakes had blueberries in them and there was some homemade blueberry syrup that Christian had prepared to go onto these.

  “Do you need some help?”

Sebastian asked Christian since Christian was also cooking hash browns and sausages.

“No, I am almost done. I am just using up what is left of the pancake batter. However, feel free to start serving the boys the pancakes I did finish.”

Christian said as Sebastian got a tray out and placed the mountains of pancakes upon the serving dishes placing them on the tray as well as the blueberry syrup. Then Sebastian gathered the cranberry juice from the fridge pouring four goblets of this juice placing them on the tray before taking the tray out to the dining hall.

  “Ashton, Calis, breakfast is ready.”

Sebastian called as the boys stopped what they were doing and made their way to the dinner table. Sebastian served the boys the pancakes doing his best not to break the designs Christian had made of the pancakes.

“Christian still has hash browns and sausages so do not fill up on pancakes alone.”

Sebastian told the boys who were busy munching on their pancakes enjoying them immensely.

Ashton especially liked the spider shaped pancakes as he grabbed some more from the serving platter pouring the delicious blueberry syrup on them. Ashton knew the spider pancakes were mainly made for him.

Christian finally came out of the kitchen with another stack of pancakes, the hash browns, and the sausages filling everyone’s plates with these things. Sebastian was still trying to get through his pancakes before two more were dropped onto his plate along with hash browns and three thick sausages. Apparently, the cat shaped pancakes were specifically for Sebastian.

Everyone was given three sausages and they were not small ones either. They were beer bratwursts. Christian also brought out some homemade honey mustard sauce to go with the sausages.

Calis was so hungry he had eaten all three bratwursts, all his hash browns, and was on a second helping of pancakes. Sebastian had no idea where the boy was putting all this food since it was a lot of food for that thin little body, but the kid was tucking it away quite well.

Ashton also finished his bratwursts, hash browns, and pancakes, going for another helping of pancakes and this was his third one.

Sebastian got through the pancakes and sausages, but could not eat all the hash browns and did not go for a second helping of pancakes. However, Christian ate everything including an extra helping of pancakes.

When they were finished with breakfast, there were still piles of pancakes left so Christian figured he could freeze them for later. He also noted that there were still some sausages left so he could perhaps make a casserole with them for lunch today along with the leftover hash browns.

Christian wasn’t too bad with throwing things together from scratch to make something wonderful. Ashton was always enthusiastic about Christian’s dishes and enjoyed most things other than Christian’s eggs over easy. To Ashton eggs over easy looked like two yellow eyeballs staring at him.

Calis wasn’t too fond of eggs over easy either. When Sebastian made his first breakfast he threw the plate at his butler hitting him square in the face with his so-called breakfast. It was as though the man had no idea on how to cook. Eventually after suffering a few mishaps in the kitchen, Sebastian got better at making dishes that Calis enjoyed. Now though, Sebastian was so big on making food taste wonderful that Sebastian sometimes went overboard to make dishes so scrumptious that they would melt in one’s mouth.

Christian was a good cook, but he had served more people than Sebastian not being quite as picky as Sebastian was for the first few years when it came to souls. It wasn’t until later that Christian found himself drawn to more specific souls practically starving himself until he could make a decent meal worthy enough for his palate. Ashto
n’s soul would have been scrumptious had he not been a fool. Anne got to taste Ashton’s soul and Christian was certain it had to be heavenly to her.

Christian was over a century older than Sebastian and like Sebastian had been starving when Calis had been contracted to the demon. Christian also did not fulfill the contract with Ashton which was another crime to add to the ones he had committed. Sebastian however fulfilled his contract only to be denied the soul he had been starving for. It had to have been agony for the young demon.

Sebastian even for his age still only looked to be perhaps twenty years old with his goatee shaven off like it was today where Christian could pass as thirty. Christian often wondered how Sebastian pulled it off since demons stopped aging when they looked around the age of thirty. Sebastian was old enough now to have reached that aging process, yet the man looked like a mere pup in comparison to Christian.

Christian assumed that Sebastian must have been a purer demon than himself to keep his age from showing, it was either that or the man was born to be a beautiful twenty-year-old forever. Either way Christian felt a bit jealous of the fact he would be seen as the old man in the house compared to the young men that surrounded him.

Sebastian had to smirk at Christian’s thoughts. Fact was, Sebastian stopped aging a long time ago. Sebastian already reached his thirty-year mark in demon years and he figured he was just damn lucky since this particular form always seemed to look young.

Christian had no real reason to be jealous since the man was good looking and most people would not care about his age. There were indeed young women who did check Christian out that were half his age in looks when he went to the stores in town.

Part of Christian’s problem was that he was so serious all the time that he rarely smiled. If he smiled more often like Sebastian than, he might see a change in many things.

Sebastian helped Christian clear off the dishes and helped him wash them. As he did Sebastian mentioned the case that Calis was interested in pursuing.

“Sebastian this is madness. The boys will both be targets if you insist on helping the police with this case. The serial killer who is doing this is fairly clever, clever enough to avoid being caught. It is bad enough whoever it is, is out there. We need not invite trouble here when we both know how Calis and Ashton are about their safety.”

Christian said disapprovingly since he knew that both the boys were beautiful enough to be targets for any psychopath.

“We are here and they will be fine. I am counting on you to watch them today Christian. I am going to go find out what I can. I agree with Calis. This place is boring without some action and this is the most action we have had in years. I am thinking our psychopath is a demon, but I could be wrong. Still doesn’t hurt to check, now does it?”

Sebastian said as he gathered his coat, gloves, and scarf.

“I still say it is a bad idea Sebastian, but do whatever you will.”

Christian left the kitchen to go check on the boys. Hopefully the two were not playing video games since it was time for lessons and homework.

  Chapter 2

  (Allen)

Sebastian returned after a few hours gathering all the information Calis requested as well as picking up some ingredients for tonight’s meal. Also, he went to a pet store to gather a leash and a few dog things for Calis since the boy wanted a stupid dog. Sebastian figured it couldn’t hurt to be prepared even if he only wanted Samson.

“Calis, here is the information you requested.”

Sebastian handed his husband the documents he retrieved through various means some of which could be considered illegal. Sebastian also had a date tonight with a female officer for this information. It just was a good thing she was pretty or Sebastian would have simply denied the date and walked out of the precinct without the information.

Calis took the papers from Sebastian and was indeed surprised a bit on how much Sebastian was able to gather. The man got names as well as pictures of the boys who had been killed. He also got locations on where the children were abducted.

“Thank you, Sebastian. I shall go over these immediately.”

Calis took the documents over to his computer and started to scan the information in as he read each document studying it thoroughly.

As Calis read the information he realized there was a pattern to these murders. All the boys were blonde with bright blue eyes and were all around thirteen to fourteen years of age. The boys were all slender in build and pretty facially. Calis also noted that the boys did not have their faces damaged. Everything else was mutilated, but their faces were spared for some reason.

The police had also found a certain drug in the boys’ remains. It was not a common drug; it was some kind of sedative that would knock out a horse for a good couple of hours. It seemed this sedative had been in the boys’ systems for quite a while.

The mutilations must have occurred while the boys were on the sedative since their faces showed no sign of pain or fear. In fact, their faces seemed peaceful so whoever this was doing the murders was not completely sadistic.

Also, the murderer had to be a male since there were signs of semen in each boy since there had been signs of a rape. The rapes of these children indicated to Calis that this person was most likely a sexual predator. At that Calis looked up local pedophiles on the internet to see if per chance one of them could be the killer.

Calis was specifically looking for someone who was a serial rapist of boys and since it was near a church where the bodies were found he thought per chance it could be a former priest. Calis spent hours looking up information on each child rapist he could find. Calis looked up locations, personal information, and what these men were convicted of.

It was still possible that the killer could be a demon, but that is why Sebastian needed to get a hold of Kingsly. Kingsly and William would know if this killer was a demon. In fact, the two reapers probably might even know who the killer was.

Sebastian had served Calis lunch and tea at his computer desk. The boy was in the zone and would not be disturbed. Calis was determined to find this murderer if it took him a damn month to do so.

“Sebastian, have you been able to contact Kingsly?”

Calis asked his husband who was busy dusting around the fireplace.

“I called and left several messages, but he is not currently answering his phone.”

Sebastian lifted the antique blue vase from the mantle and proceeded to dust it and the area around it.

“Well I have narrowed the search down to two humans if it is indeed a human who did this heinous crime.”

As Calis printed out the documents, he had on the two individuals he handed this information to Sebastian.

“I want you to find out all you can about Henry Laud and Liam Flounders. Henry was a priest at the church where these bodies were found and had been a rapist of his choir boys. Liam was also a priest and a serial rapist who lives not too far from the church in question. If it is a human murdering these boys, it would definitely be a priest.’

“I want them followed. I expect you to check up on these two to see where they go and what they are doing. I need to know if these sexual predators are kidnapping young men or are still preying on children. I never believed people like these could be rehabilitated no matter what some bloody therapist says.”

Calis gave Sebastian the pictures of these two men as well as the other information so Sebastian could follow up on these two. Calis figured it had to be a priest doing this and usually his hunches were right on.

“Very well, my Lord. I shall consider these two individuals, but after we go into town today. Ashton wants to buy a CD from the music store and I need to go to the fabric store for some items to create a new frock for you and Ashton. I wish to also pick up some threads and new needles for the sewing machine.”

Sebastian said since he had this grand idea for Calis and Ashton in making something special for them to wear to the next reaper’s ball. In his mind, he saw his beloved in
a flurry of velvet, lace, and bows. Sebastian also had ideas for making small top hats to go with the frocks he was going to create.

Calis was bummed since he did not want to go into town, but obviously, everyone else did. Really Calis just wanted to keep working on this case, but Sebastian would have a fit if he played bait to this killer. Calis knew it wouldn’t take much for him to look like a perfect victim. A blonde wig, some blue contacts and Calis could easily pull the look off.

  “No Calis.”

Sebastian said firmly since he was not going to have Calis play bait. He thought he made that perfectly clear.

“But Sebastian, it isn’t like you couldn’t find me if something did happen. Geeze, I ain’t a kid anymore.”

Calis said in annoyance as he looked up wigs that might work.
