Reapers and Angels Page 16

by Margie Eileen Jones

  “Then quit acting like one.”

Sebastian said simply since he was done with Calis for now. Calis was of course pissed and that meant he would not talk to Sebastian for at least a good hour.

“I suggest you calm down and do some homework while I rouse Christian and Ashton. If you want a soul to study I will find out if Kingsly and William have the demon lists so you can choose one from them to play with, but you will have a contract with it if you wish to keep it. It is the rules of both Angels and demons to do this Calis. Breaking the rules of such is against all immortal codes so I suggest you calm down and behave otherwise you will be tied up to go into the closet to think about your attitude young man.”

Calis did calm down a bit, but was still pissed off at Sebastian. His ass now hurt and he was not happy.

Sebastian went into the music room where Christian slowly was starting to come to. His head hurt and he wondered what went wrong. Usually cherubs using their Angelic voices brought about joy and peace, Calis’s voice though as beautiful as it was seemed to make him dizzy. He had tried to tell the boy to stop, but he saw a look in Calis’s eyes that was rather wicked before he passed out.

“Christian I should have warned you about Calis’s voice. He has the power to pull out souls with his voice and his demonic powers have not completely left him. Part of that is his unwillingness to let go of past things. A tainted cherub is not the same as the cherubs we are used to.”

Sebastian helped Christian up from the floor. Christian looked at Ashton who was still out cold.

“So, it just makes Angels and demons pass out then?”

Christian asked since his head was slowly starting to clear up.

“Not demons so much as Angels. Demons find it to be beautiful and that is why there are two of them down the street there that did not pass out. They were enjoying the song and luckily did not notice Calis or they might have taken him. A cherub or demon who has such a voice is coveted by demons. Next time Calis tries to pull this trick on you, clamp your hand over his mouth and gag him if you must until I get there. I don’t want demons thinking they can kidnap my little husband who does not seem to know his limits.”

Sebastian went over to Ashton to check to see if the boy was all right. Calis of course was in deep shit for this nonsense since the boy knew what he was doing. How was Sebastian supposed to protect Calis if the boy incapacitated his protectors?

Ashton was carried into his bedroom by Christian who sat on the bed holding Ashton’s hand until Ashton would wake. He really wished he had not pushed it with Calis today. The young man had balked at doing his music lessons since he was in the middle of his accounting and Sebastian warned him that no one was to interfere with Calis when he was doing this. Christian figured he did get a bit of what he deserved. Problem was now two demons knew that voice was in this location so that meant other demons would come to find Calis. This was not good.

Sebastian went to check on Anne who was also on the floor with some sewing in hand. She was unconscious, but had been busy at the time finishing a total of three suits already. The only things not added to the suits were the embroidery which it looked like she was currently working on before Calis pulled his little stunt.

Taking the sewing carefully from her hands Sebastian lifted the tiny woman into his arms carrying her to her room. Laying Anne gently on the bed he sat waiting for her to open her eyes. He needed to apologize to her for Calis and then make the boy apologize to her as well. Now Calis had gotten them unwanted attention and demons would come from miles around to find him. They were only three Angels and against a possible legion of demons they did not have much of a chance. That meant they were going to have to move sooner than planned.

Because Calis’s voice drew people to it, humans had come clean across town falling down at Midnight Manor including that boy. Half of them did not know why they were even here and Sebastian just hoped more were not coming.

As Anne finally opened her eyes, Sebastian looked down at the tiny woman with a smile.

  “What happened?”

Anne asked as she tried to sit up only for Sebastian to gently lay her back down.

“Give the spell a minute to wear off. Calis was using his powers when he was singing. He has not let go of that part of his demonic nature and I fear he has brought upon us some problems. We have two demons watching this house as we speak.”

Anne frowned since this was not good. They could fight a few demons, but as many demons that would come here would be damn near impossible for three Angels to handle on their own.

  “I can get help.”

Anne could go back to heaven for a bit to see if Archangel Michael was still willing to pull her a favor.

“No thank you. I do not want more Angels in this area or reapers. We shall simply move away sooner and have the reapers set up the relocation project a bit earlier than planned. The demons are still not certain that the voice was coming from here. There are about five more manors near Midnight so as long as there are no further slip ups we should be ok for now. Demons cannot see souls like we do so as far as they know the humans who fell here had fallen merely from exhaustion.”

Sebastian stated as he finally helped Anne sit up. As long as they did not let their wings show to the demons they would be safe and Sebastian would simply have Christian travel in town for the things they needed like Anne’s laptop and cell phone. They also needed a few things in the kitchen. Sebastian was certain he could handle a few demons.

“What are we going to do for the boy’s music lessons then?”

Anne asked since she had enjoyed listening to both boys’ beautiful voices before she passed out.

“Calis will not be able to sing for a time which will make him extremely happy. Calis hates singing so it won’t be a problem. I just need to know what set Calis off to make him torment Christian besides his usual spoiled brat like behavior.”

Sebastian said and after helping Anne up he led her back into the sewing room. There he handed her the sewing she had dropped.

“You know you do not have to be in here all day. I do appreciate all you have done, but there are other places in the house besides this room with books and other things to occupy your time my dear. I also ask you to leave the detail work to me. I wish to do such myself if you do not mind.”

Sebastian was a little put out that most of the work had been finished. It was indeed his gifts not Anne’s.

“That is fine. I can start working on sewing the next suit then. I really do not feel like reading and I already swept the floors. I did not know where a mop was though so I apologize since I did not get to mop them. Also, there is a strange contraption with hoses in the closet I assume is for cleaning. You must show me how it works.”

Sebastian realized she must be talking about the vacuum. He preferred to do that part of the work, but he would show her where the mops, the wood treatments, and polishes were kept.

“I will show you the vacuum cleaner and how it works, but I do that myself. There are various things you may do, but I buff the floors, wax them, and do most of the hard labor. I do not wish for a lady to do such. However, tonight you may help me in the kitchen while Christian runs to the store to pick up some things for the house.”

Sebastian then left Anne to her sewing as he went to confront Christian on why Calis had gone off on him. Calis was very vindictive and cruel to those that pissed him off so Christian must have done something to him to make Calis act out.

Sebastian found Christian sitting with Ashton who still had yet to wake. Christian was caressing the boy’s hair and wishing Ashton would open those pretty eyes.

“Christian what did you do to piss off Calis besides make him sing?”

Sebastian asked since he was indeed curious as to why Calis would knock everyone out like he did.

“I interrupted him during his accounting to tell him it was time for his music lesson.”

Christian said and Sebastian groaned in frustration. Not even he
was allowed to interrupt Calis doing his accounting.

“I tried to tell you never to interrupt him when he is doing his accounting. It is vital he does this for us and music lessons can wait until he is done.’

“Now because of his little stunt we may have an issue since demons know that voice was coming from this area. We may have several demons show up suddenly at our doorstep so I need you to watch the boys closely and I also need you to go into town tonight to pick up some things for the house. I shall give you a list, but promise me from now on you will talk to me first before you do anything concerning Calis. You are lucky he did not do more to you.”

Sebastian said in frustration. He warned Christian no one was to bother Calis when he was doing his accounting. It did not matter how long Calis was in the room doing it, it was not for anyone to question so now Sebastian had to go deal with the brat who had every right to be angry.

Writing the list for Christian, Sebastian decided avoiding Calis for a little while might be a good idea since the boy was pissed at him. He would give Christian the list and after Ashton was up he could go do his tasks while he kept world war three from happening in the house when Calis blew up at him.

Going into Christian and Ashton’s bedroom, he gave Christian the list.

“Christian, Ashton will be fine. I suggest you leave for a while since I think Calis is going to be in a foul enough mood that when I am done I don’t want him to go off on you. I will rouse Ashton after I am done.”

Sebastian said as Christian frowned not wanting to leave Ashton, but took the list and left.

Going into the front room, Sebastian decided it was time to tell Calis the issue that was now occurring at Midnight and apologize for Christian. Calis had every right to be mad about what happened although he did deserve a bit of the discipline he received for trying to take a non-contracted soul.

“Calis, I did not know Christian bothered you when you were doing your accounting. I humbly apologize for not hearing your side, but as for the soul you tried to keep I do not apologize for spanking you.’

“Also, we have a problem. Demons are now staking this manor and will be looking for you. We need to move a bit sooner than we imagined. I ask that you do not use your voice again to gather souls. For now, we can keep the demons at bay by pretending to be a normal family, but we are looking at possibly hundreds of demons searching this area to find you. I don’t want heaven’s servants and grim reapers taking over this area so I ask that you do control yourself as well as your temper.”

Sebastian said and Calis frowned since Sebastian was just trying to make things worse by not allowing reapers and Angels to help with this problem. Sebastian always wanted to do things on his own and this time they were talking about possible issues with hundreds of demons. It was not like Calis had planned for this to happen, but now that it had it was foolish not to accept help.

“Sebastian if demons are coming moving may not solve the problem. If nothing else, we should have reapers assist us. Call Kingsly and William. I will not use my voice again to knock you all out, but I will have an apology from Christian. I do the accounting for all of your benefit and unless Christian thinks he can do it better he had better stay out of my way.”

Calis stated angrily since he had almost screwed up the numbers due to Christian’s interruption. No one was to bother him when he was doing his work and if it took him all damn day to do it then so be it.

“Do you need to work on it some more Calis?”

Sebastian asked since he was concerned Calis did not get the chance to finish.

“No, I was luckily on the last few numbers when he interrupted me. I want to be able to lock that door Sebastian if I must when you are not home. I will not be interrupted again.”

Calis said as he went over his homework feeling a headache coming on. Sebastian had no idea how badly Calis wanted to hurt Christian and what he had done was lenient compared to what he would have done to Sebastian had Sebastian interrupted him.

“Calis I really think if we just play human and move that the demon problem will go away on its own. There is no point in bringing more attention to us right now as it is. So far only two demons are in the vicinity. They are doing nothing other than looking around. If they get too nosey I will kill them, but so far nothing is going on that a move will not take care of.”

Sebastian said since he really did not think an all-out war was necessary unless more demons showed up. Knowing the Archangels, Michael, and Raphael, the two were just itching for a battle and Sebastian did not need one in his front yard.

Just as Calis went to say something more, a knock was heard on the door. Sebastian froze since he did not wish to answer it just in case it was one of the demons. Demons did not know Angels lived here and they could be hostile. Now that the humans were gone there was no real reason for anyone to knock at this time of day.

  “Answer the door Sebastian.”

Calis said irritably. Obviously, someone wanted in and Sebastian certainly could handle two lousy demons.

“I don’t know if that is a wise idea Calis, but very well.”

Sebastian said as he prepared his hand with five razor sharp kitchen knives behind his back as he went to answer the door. Looking out the peep hole Sebastian saw someone he never wanted to see in his life again and reluctantly opened the door.

  “Sebastian let me in.”

The tall man said with the long wavy blonde hair and icy blue eyes which were like actual ice unlike his mate who had glowing flame red eyes.

Sebastian did not want to deal with this asshole. It was the mighty Archangel Michael, the right hand of God at his door and he did not wish to even talk to him.

“Either let him in or close the door Sebastian. You are letting the heat out.”

Calis said angrily as he went over the stupid math problems on the computer hoping to get through this test in record time.

Michael did not bother waiting for Sebastian as he pushed his way in closing the door behind him and locking it with his powers. He then allowed his mighty wings to come out and stood wearing a long black jacket, white scarf, and black gloves.

“Sebastian, I thought you were protecting these cherubs. We have over a thousand demons headed your way. I suggest if you do not want war in your front yard that you and the others come with me now. We are already gathering Christian.’

“This house may be spared, but only if you leave with me. They will come to take the boys so I suggest you find a way to travel with us. I am afraid however the humans in this area may be in grave danger. The only option is to leave.”

Michael said as he waited for Sebastian to argue with him.

Calis’s eyes went wide. He had not meant for things to get this bad. A thousand demons headed their way all because he was pissed off at Christian? Now his home was in danger and his neighbors’ homes.

“If the neighbors cooperate with the fake police and so forth we should have no murders tonight. The demons are searching for Calis and Calis only. We will leave out the back through a portal I will create. I will have two of my own remain behind to ensure that Midnight remains in one piece. Gabriel and Uriel are pretty good at disguises so they shall quell any questions that might arise.”

Michael said as Calis wandered over to where Michael stood looking at Sebastian in concern. Sebastian just nodded and went to go get Anne as well as Ashton.

  “Where are, we going?”

  Calis asked the Archangel.

“You will be staying with William and Kingsly. I suggest you go pack a few items for your stay. Also, young Calis, I shall be training you to control your voice. It is a gift and as such it can be used for good as well. It can be used to protect yourself from human enemies. However, you must be much more careful. It also lures out demons.”

Michael said in his low baritone voice as he regarded the young cherub who finally looked into his ice eyes. Calis was shaken to the core a bit by that cold stare. Those eyes were not normal and the man w
as incredibly tall with broad shoulders. He was big enough to probably intimidate anyone and those wings were huge.

  “Go do as you need.”

Michael stated as he watched out the window as a few more demons arrived congregating in a small circle. They needed to leave soon.

Calis simply nodded and went to go get Sebastian who was busy waking Ashton.

“Sebastian, we need to leave. I need my things packed; I will take care of Ashton.”

Calis said as Sebastian left to go gather the boys’ things. They would need at least one suitcase each.

Sebastian told Anne the problem and Anne immediately got up to help Sebastian gather their things including Christian and Sebastian’s things into suitcases. They did not know how long they needed to be gone, but could only carry one suitcase each.

Michael watched as more and more demons congregated. It was time to go.
