“Why you looking like that? Brook and Brooklyn two different people, huh?” he asked while rubbing his goatee. I shook my head up and down.

“What’s your real name Loco or is it Just Loco the Lunatic?” I said to him. He put his head back and started laughing.

“Nah its Breon,” he responded. Our food came up and we walked to the counter to get it. I popped open my container to make sure my food was well put together. He grabbed my hand again and we headed outside. It was ten o’clock at night so it was a little breezy, but the breeze felt good. Lake Calhoun wasn’t that far from Famous Dave’s but it was like a ten-minute walk. Loco asked did I want to walk or he could get his car and take us. I told him I was okay I was a walker. He kissed me on the cheek and told me I was something else, and we proceeded to the lake hand in hand.

  Loco

Slim and Killa would kill their selves if they knew I hung out with Brook tonight. It was after midnight and I was just now walking in the door. Brook and I walked around Lake Calhoun four times and I was beat. I had put my phone on vibrate, making sure it only notified me for Slim and Killa. They didn’t call me, which meant money was flowing well and maybe I could sleep peacefully. I was getting ready to turn on the shower when I had to stop and let a few kids off at the park. I sat on the toilet and kissed the dog chain on my neck. It was a picture of my mom and me when I was kid. My mother was killed when I was ten years old. She was walking home and somebody was shooting and she got hit with a stray bullet. My mother was a true definition of a soldier. I never knew my father but she held it down to the point that I didn’t need him. She took care of me by herself. She made sure I was laced from head to toe, and made sure we spent a lot of time together. I was devastated when she was killed; that was when Loco was born and all hell let loose afterwards. My phone was sitting on the counter and it vibrated. I saw it was a text from Brook:

I made it home safely thanks for the perfect night boo I’m going to bed goodnight.”

I shot her a text back and told her goodnight. As soon as I sat my phone down, it started ringing. It was Slim calling me.

“What you doing bitch, pop out?” he yelled into the phone. I looked at the phone time… 12:23.

“Bitch, where we going to go at 12:23 at night?” I asked his ass.

“Man, we finna go see them black hoes dance at Augie’s,” he said. I shook my head because I should have known this nigga wanted to go to that dirty ass place. That was his second home.

“Aight nigga, I’m finna get in the shower and wash my balls. I’ll be ready in twenty minutes,” I told him and hung up.

I played “Lifestyle” on my phone and hopped in the shower, washed myself up within ten minutes flats. Once I stepped out the shower and put my Gucci cologne on I was feeling myself . You couldn’t tell me nothing when it came to myself, yes I was conceited but I didn’t care. Walking to my closet and pulled out my white True Religion jeans and a black and white True Religion shirt. My white and black Jordan 11s was already at the door waiting on me to put on. Tonight was going to be a good night with my boy. After I put on my shoes I grabbed my Pelle coat out the closet, I grabbed me two hundred dollars and walked out. Lord knows I was far from broke but I didn’t want to spend too much money at the strip club. I grabbed my heat and locked up my crib. Slim was just pulling in the parking lot by time I got outside. Perfect timing

“Bitch, what bitch’s car are we driving?” I asked him.

“Bitch, your baldhead granny’s,” he said to me. We skirted out the parking out and Slim hit the highway. He passed me a cup of ice and filled it with Henny. I knew tonight was going to be a party night.

“Aye man, remember the girl Brook, the little bitch Dayja’s friend?” I asked Slim.

“Yea I remember her, I saw you looking at her with your wide eyes nigga,” he said to me while laughing. “Nigga, I took her ass to Famous Dave’s and to the lake. The bitch don’t even know who a nigga really is,” I said.

Slim and I pulled into Augie’s strip club’s parking lot. It was a Monday night which meant tonight was amateur night, and amateur night meant that they let anybody dance on the pole. We got searched, paid our fee and walked inside. It was thick in here. It was a lot of hard legs in here which there should have been, because it was a strip club. The only bad thing about Augie’s is that its little as hell, so a whole bunch of niggas in a little ass space did not always quite out, but I kept the pistol on me for times like these. We walked through the crowd. I shook a few hands and gave a few hugs to some niggas and females I knew. They had this little thick little chick on stage twirling around the pole. Me and Slim posted up near the back of the club and watched the scene.

“Damn bro, it’s thick in here tonight,” Slim yelled to me over the music. As soon as the word left his mouth, a light-skinned shorty with a fat ass walked up. Slim smacked her on the ass and she turned and looked at him. She started bending over and backing her ass up on him. I looked at Slim and laughed. He had his hand on shorty’s back, enjoying the moment. She stopped dancing, winked at the nigga and walked away.

“You in love with a stripper bro?” I asked him.

“I been in love with the strippers, why you think I’m always here,” he said to me. We both started cracking up. The bartender yelled last call for drinks and I walked over to the bar and grabbed two shots of Henny. I paid her and walked back over to Slim. We took our shot and headed towards to the door. Me and Slim weren’t hotheaded like we used to be. We used to be thirsty for two am when it was time for the club to shut down. Every nigga and every female was walking to there car and you was bound to see something nice. Slim and I used to post up waiting for somebody to talk shit at that time, getting ready to beat their ass for no reason at all. Now we just made sure we leave at a decent time and won’t get caught in anybody’s crossfire. Even if we did get caught in a crossfire, I can guarantee me and Slim were going to make it. They didn’t call me Loco for no reason and Slim was Slim, that nigga had aim and that was all he wrote. Killa on the other hand, they didn’t call him Killa for nothing either.

I got to Slim’s car and noticed a nigga was sitting in his truck next to his car. I nodded at him and he nodded back at me. I walked over to the passenger side door and opened my door.

“Damn nigga, be careful with your door,” the man in the car next to me said. I turned around real quick.

“Man, ain’t nobody thinking about your door,” I looked at the fucked nigga and said. Somebody in his passenger seat moved up to see who was he talking to and leaned back real quick. I couldn’t tell if it was girl or not.

“Dirty ass bitch,” he said. I grabbed my gun and pointed at the nigga’s forehead.

“Bitch, do you do know me?” I asked him.

“Fuck you nigga shoot me,” the man said to me. The person looked up again and it was a female.

“Bae, stop starting with these niggas, he didn’t do anything to you,” she said to her dude. The dude look at her and back to me. I wanted to turn around but I know if I did, he would probably open fire on me. I knew Slim was behind me but I needed to be sure. Next thing I knew, I saw Slim walk behind me and over to the passenger door. He snatched the girl up and out the car. He walked past me and told me to handle my business. I hit the dude with the butt of my gun and pulled out my pocket knife that was in my pocket. I grabbed him by his ear and sliced it right down the middle. Next thing I knew his ear was in my hand. I leaned up to him and whispered to him.

“Nigga my name is Loco.” I hit that nigga one time and walked off. I heard Slim start up and pull off. I had to walk off to make sure nobody was around and would say it was two people instead of one. I walked a few blocks, called Slim and told him where I was. He pulled up a few shorts moments with the girl still in the car.

“Nigga, what you doing with this bitch?” I asked him. He ran his hands through his dreads and looked back at her smirked. She looked a little scared but she had a smile on her face like she didn’t care what was going
to happen either.

“I live over north and won’t say anything,” she blurted out and said.

“Nigga, kill this bitch,” I told Slim.

He chuckled, looked at me and said, “Not before I fuck her.” He looked at her and she smiled at him then licked her lips.

“Bitch, whatever you do, drop me off a block before my house.” I did not want this bitch to know where I lived.

“Nah I’m bringing her to your house to smash and handle my business,” he said to me. I looked at him and burst out laughing. This nigga was crazy fa’real.

  “Yea, aight nigga.”

  Dayja

I woke up the next morning feeling happy and relieved. Yes, I was happy to be home with my family. I had taken life for granted and He had given me another chance. I laughed to myself as I had got out my brother bed. He let me sleep in here last while he and Tiffany slept on the couch. I used to talk about people who would get shot or something bad happened to them, and then they changed their life around. Now here I was doing the things I used to talk about. But now I had to think about what my next move was, how I was going to get some money. I did have some money saved but I wasn’t quite for sure how I was going to be able to push it and move around. I got in the shower and thought about Brook. I was upset at her for the way she threw me under the bus. She was quick to let Killa know my brother and I stole the money. It was like we had a gun to her head and was going to the pull the trigger. How could she just be so quick to throw us under the bus? I really had to think about if I wanted to mess with Brook again. She was a go-getter; she was like a mini version of me that I had created. I could never be mad at her sneaky ways because she was doing nothing but what any hustler would do; she was getting to the money, no if, ands or buts about it. Just like I did. I killed people so they wouldn’t come back and hunt me down, and she ratted me out thinking Killa was going to kill me and let her live.

I got in the shower and thought about Killa and his friends Loco and Slim. They were both hotheads and I had heard about them and even partied with Slim. I just didn’t understand how I knew them two and never knew Killa. I was washing my body when I heard a knock at the door.

  “Who is it?” I asked.

“It’s me, Tiffany, can I use the restroom?” I heard Tiffany call out.

I told her she could come in and use it. After she used it, I got out the shower, walked to my brother’s room and threw on my cocoa butter lotion. I sat on my brother’s bed and thought about how I was going to get some money. I had a few thousands here but I knew that wasn’t going to last long. I couldn’t sit and dwell on it. I pulled my Timbs out of my brother’s closet and walked out the room. I told their asses hey and bye. I grabbed my brother’s phone and called a cab. First thing first was to head to the bank, Sprint store and then rent a car. I can’t depend on nobody at the moment but myself. It was time for me to get back to the money, one way or another.

I waited outside for the cab to pull up then got in. I had about five hundred on me that I grabbed from the stash, and that was enough to get me a rental car, new phone and probably get my hair done. Something had to give.

  Tiffany

I had just pulled out of Sanford Brown, my school’s parking lot. I really didn’t have a clue as to where I was going, but I did know that I was tired of sitting at Jay’s house and sitting under him. I love Jay but being with him was starting to become stressful. It was like all his stories that he told was starting to unravel. I even remember the day that we met.

I had just pulled into Starbucks in Brooklyn Center. The line was wrapped around the corner, which was normal for the time of morning it was. I had on my scrubs for school and was looking a hot mess. I only had on eyeliner and some white Payless sneakers to complete my look. My mood today was very shitty. All I wanted was a caramel cooler with whipped cream to take the pain away. I was the next one to place my order when a dude walked in Starbucks and walked right in front of me. I was taken back. I immediately walked around and got back in front of him. I flipped my long hair at and continued to mind my business.

“You flipping it but is it real?” he inquired from behind me.

I turned around and looked him up and down. He had on a pair of dirty ass black Timberlands, some black Rock Revival jeans and a white dusty tee. I smirked my lips and turned my ass back the other way. I placed my order, paid for it and stood back in the waiting area. I noticed that he had ordered a large coffee because they have gave it to him right away. He paid for his item and then he stood to the side and stared at me. I turned my attention away from him. Don’t get me wrong, he was handsome, but he was creeping me out. I heard my name being called and when I walked up to get my drink, he came from the side and grabbed it before I did.

“Give me my drink,” I said to him. He smiled and told me to follow him outside and of course I did.

“You talking about my hair and you need to worrying about your shoes and giving me my drink back,” I said to him. He looked at me smirked and walked up to a Dodge Challenger. I wasn’t impressed because everybody in Minnesota was a ‘stunter’ so you never knew if he was driving his own car, his baby mama’s or his mama’s car. He pulled out his phone and asked me for my number so he could take me out.

“If I give you my number are you going to give me drink back?” I asked him.

“Of course, I don’t drink no caramel cooler shit with whipped cream, and if I’m doing anything with some whipped cream, it’s licking it off your honey pot,” he winked at me and said. I put my number in his phone and he gave me back my drink.

Of course, Jay called me later that day and took me out to lunch when I was on my break for class. Needless to say, we’d become tight ever since and haven’t had any issues until now. Jay and I had become so close that before I knew it, I was living in his apartment. Jay had told me at the beginning of our relationship that he owned his own business but later in time, he admitted that he robbed people and sold drugs for a living. I pulled over to the side of the road, parked my car and sat. I loved Jay and was willing to ride it out with him, but now I was crushed when I found out that Dayja’s friend, Brook was possibly pregnant by him. Having a baby was something I couldn’t deal with at the time. I have heard some nasty things about Brook and didn’t even think that Jay would stoop so low as to touch her. I can’t say I knew Brook personally, but I have heard some very nasty thing about her.

I sat in my car for five more minutes and just decided that I was going to shoot out to Plymouth and head to my mom’s house. My mom was my best friend and shoulder to cry on. She and I have been through hell and back together. It was me and her against the world. I was the only girl with an older brother who lived in California, and a little brother who stayed with his dad. My older brother and I had the same dad and he was also my close confidant. I cried when he moved to California and left me here in Minnesota to rot.

I pulled up into my mom’s apartment complex and got out the car. I walked up the stairs and saw a dude checking a mailbox. I buzzed my mom’s apartment number and waited for her to let me in. I looked over and spotted the dude. He was dark skinned with dreads and had on a pair of Jordan slippers. His back was facing me so I wasn’t able to get a good look at his face. He got done with his mail, walked to the door, opened it and held it open for me.

“Thank you,” I said to him. I looked at him and smiled. “You’re handsome,” I said to him.

“Thank you beautiful, you’re pretty yourself,” he replied back to me. I walked up the stairs and I heard him yell, asking for my name. I told him then continued to my mother’s apartment door.

I got up to my mother’s door and she let me in. My mother was identical to me. I was light skinned with long hair and grey eyes. I didn’t have a big butt and my breasts were sitting at 38Ds. My mother was the exact same, but she was dark skinned with long hair and grey eyes, and her shape was more defined from having three kids. I plopped down on the couch and turned on the television. I could hear my mo
m in the back in her room gossiping on the phone like always. I laid there staring at the ceiling and trying to figure out my next move. Before I started messing with Jay, I was living with my mom, and I honestly didn’t have a problem with living with her. She gave me privacy and I gave her space. I laid on my mother’s couch for about an hour until I eventually went to sleep.

  Killa

“What up boy?” I yelled into the phone. I had just pulled up onto the dirty streets of Minneapolis, and I was parked on Broadway Avenue, where all the wannabes flaunt their shit. I was sitting outside the car on the hood of it. I wasn’t really from Minnesota, but the streets loved me like I was their very own born bred. I was Chicago at a heart and that was where my name Killa came from. I grew up in Chicago but I had become a part of too many crimes and relocated here. Being in Minneapolis made me think about Dayja and what she was up to. I often wondered did she start back robbing niggas and stuff again, or did she completely change her life around. I chucked to myself as I thought about how Demetri and Bee had completely played her ass. Bee on the other hand had fallen in love with Brook’s hoe ass and didn’t want to let go. I laughed to myself again because Brook told Bee she was pregnant, but was going out to eat with Loco. What type of hoe shit was that?
