“Unless the date is fake, that photo explains everything,” I said.
Patrick nodded. “That clearly looks like Mr. Kolovos, so if this was taken two months ago, there is every reason to suppose that he is the one who is going around to those night clubs.”
He handed the photo back to me and I looked at the two men. It was easy to see which one was Linda’s husband as he was dressed in an army uniform, but I wasn’t interested in him any longer. I gazed at the other fellow. Tall, blond, and with a smile to die for, it was easy to see why the women had fallen in love with him. Hell, even I had. And, not forgetting the tanned body and the ripped muscles, he was quite the sight to behold.
Even now, as I looked at the photo, I pictured the last time I had seen him. It had been a hot summer’s day and we had just finished walking on the beach. He had held my hands tight and looked at me with his bright, blue eyes. He seemed to gaze into my soul and, with a voice that had stirred quite a number of girl’s hearts, including mine, told me that he loved me. He then kissed me, turned, and walked away. He left for Egypt that day, and that was the last time I had seen him.
Ten years had now passed and here I was staring at a photo of someone who had stolen my heart when I was only eighteen years old. He looked roughly the same, just more muscular if that was even possible.
I couldn’t count how many times I had wished for one more glimpse of him in those ten years, just one photo, one image, and here it was.
Though my feelings had changed for him, especially after what I had learnt about him, I still wondered how I would feel if I met him face to face.
I looked at Patrick. “Do you think we’ll catch him?”
Patrick nodded. “No one can run forever. Even someone as good as him has to make a mistake sooner or later. And, when he does, we’ll be there waiting for him.
I nodded and leaned back against the side of the boat. As Patrick steered the craft across the water, I gazed back at the photo and wondered how soon it would be until I came face to face with Troy Hunter.
