Sex, Vows & Babies: One More Night (Kindle Worlds Novella) Page 9

by Sarah O'Rourke

Jaw falling, Waverlee could only stare at the huge rock he held in his hand. “That’s huge, Shaw,” she breathed, eyeing the diamond.

“I wanted a stone big enough to make a statement that you are very much taken and off the market,” he replied unapologetically as he took her hand in his and began sliding the cool metal down her ring finger.

“I’d say this ring does that,” Waverlee giggled, unable to look away from the glittering diamond. “It’s too much, Shaw,” she tried to deny.

“Do you like the ring, sweet girl?” he asked gently, lifting his eyes from her ring to her eyes and finding them glowing with happiness.

“I love the ring, Shaw,” she returned with quiet honesty. “But it must have cost…”

“Stop right there,” he ordered softly. “From now on, you are going to start accepting gifts from me. This ring is a symbol of my love for you. No price I could ever pay would be too high for that.”

“Thank you, Shaw,” she whispered, leaning forward to press a soft kiss to his lips. “I’ll treasure it all of my life.”

“Good. Next, you’re giving up that shitty apartment, you’re moving into our house permanently, you’re quitting both of those damn jobs you have and coming to work for me while you finish your degree, and I’m getting you a safe, reliable vehicle. No more pieces of crap that put you in danger. I want you behind the wheel of something that has a five star safety rating,” he demanded sternly.

“Now, wait a second,” she began to argue, her cheeks reddening as she realized he was trying to micro-manage her life. While she liked the idea of everything he was saying, it should be their decision. Not just his. “Of course I’ll live with the man I’m marrying, but I’ll choose a car I can afford and pay for myself. As for where I work….”

“None of this is up for debate, baby,” Shaw decreed firmly, his jaw hardening with determined tenacity. “Because there’s one last thing you don’t know yet.”

“What do you mean?” she asked, more than a little perplexed. Based on the smug look on his face, it didn’t appear to be bad news, but still… she hated secrets.

“You see, while all your test results came back clear earlier, they did find a little something on one of the blood tests.”

Waverlee froze. “What kind of something? Is it bad?”

Shaw offered her a beautiful smile. “Not in my world it isn’t. If you ask me, I think its fantastic news.”

Truly confused now, Waverlee stared at him. “What?”

“Waverlee, you’re pregnant. Based on the ultrasound they did, you’re about 14 weeks along”

Eyes wide, Waverlee gasped, gripping the starchy white sheet covering her. “I…I can’t be! I’m on the…. Oh, shit!” she yelped as her mind moved at warp speed. “Shaw, I completely forgot to get my last Depo shot. I’m over….”

“Three and a half months late for it, give or take a day?” he asked, amused as she began to do math on an invisible board in front of her.

Waverlee’s breath came in choppy gasps as she nodded wordlessly, her hand finally dropping back to her lap. “I swear, Shaw, it wasn’t on purpose…”

  “Waverlee, honey…”

“I guess I just got so swamped with school and work and us that I spaced out where it came to my shots. I’ve never been regular so I didn’t notice missing a period. And I just thought my nausea was a stomach bug I couldn’t shake,” she rambled.

“Wait. You’ve been sick and didn’t tell me,” he growled, his face hardening.

“You would have complained until I went to the doctor,” she stated dismissively, waving a hand at him. “You always overreact. It just never occurred to me that I could be, well, you know. I promise I didn’t plan for this to happen. I’d never trap you like that and …”

“Waverlee!” Shaw called to her again, lightly gripping her shoulders and shaking her carefully.

“Take a breath for me and relax, sweet girl. I’m thrilled, baby! Fucking thrilled that you are carrying our child. It might be a surprise, but it was never once an unwelcome one for me.”

Waverlee blinked at the vehemence in his tone. “You want a baby with me?”

“I want you. Our baby is a huge bonus,” he clarified, dropping a kiss on her nose.

“Holy crap,” she whispered as her eyes filled again, this time with happy tears. “I’m going to be a mommy.”

“An amazing mommy. And I’m gonna be a kickass daddy. Our kid is gonna have two parents that adore him or her. Every day, he or she is gonna know that they are the most loved baby in the world. We’ll make sure of it,” he reassured her as he pulled a trembling Waverlee into his arms and held her close.

“You promise?” Waverlee whispered into his neck.

“I promise, angel. Our life together is going to be nothing less than incredible.”

And as Waverlee closed her eyes and let the warm embrace of the man that loved her soothe her ragged nerves, she began to believe that dreams really do come true.

  Epilogue

  Over a Year Later

  “Is she out?”

Softly closing the door that connected their daughter’s nursery to their bedroom, Crenshaw grinned widely. “Sleeping like the little angel she is,” he declared proudly, quietly dropping the baby monitor to the bed side table on his side of the bed.

“You’ve got the magic touch when it comes to our little Addison,” Waverlee praised, rolling over in bed as the sheet dropped to reveal the tops of her still milk-swollen breasts. She was slowly trying to wean eight month old Addie from her breasts, but she still bonded with the baby each night, giving her the last feeding of the day by breast before Shaw put the little girl to bed in her crib. Now that Addie was getting a little older, her husband had started making noises about extending their family, claiming he needed a son to even out the numbers in the house. And honestly, the idea was growing on her.

“What can I say? She’s a daddy’s girl,” Shaw declared with unapologetic pride in his kid. She wasn’t surprised. Shaw had been there for every step of her pregnancy with their little girl. From attending every doctor’s appointment to giving her aching back and feet nightly rubdowns to running all over Red Springs, Nevada to find all the strange foods she’d craved while nourishing his child in her womb, he’d been the absolute best husband and father a wife and child could ask to have.

And she was feeling extremely appreciative this evening, she thought as she watched him peel his tee shirt over his head, revealing a chest that she still thought classified as a work of art. All that hard muscle and tanned skin still had the ability to make her body clench with need. And when he began pushing his flannel sleep pants off his narrow hips, she nearly wept with glee. Her husband’s fully naked body was fine enough to grace any centerfold, but luckily she was the only one that got to frolic on that sensual playground. Licking her lips, she didn’t realize she’d moaned until she heard Shaw’s amused chuckle.

“You see something you like, my sweet girl?” he asked knowingly, his blue eyes dancing as they met hers.

“Maybe,” Waverlee mused with a flirtatious smile, lifting one shoulder in a shrug that allowed the sheet to slip a little further down her breasts. “I could ask you the same thing,” she chuckled a moment later as his eyes gleamed appreciatively at the expanse of bare flesh she exposed.

“Angel, we both know I love what I see,” he replied as he put one knee to the bed and bent to run his tongue around one of her nipples that had escaped the sheet. “Mmmm…sweet. I’m almost jealous of the gourmet meal my kid gets from these babies. I wonder if she left a little taste for daddy,” he murmured before sucking lightly at her breast.

Palming the back of his head as his lips tugged at the swollen tip of her breast, Waverlee’s low moan pulled a rough sound of desire from her husband’s lips. “That feels good,” she crooned as he moved to her neglected breast, licking the turgid rise with slow, delicious twists of his tongue.

“Good enough to get my sweet girl wet?”
Shaw’s deep voice queried as he slid his hand between her thighs before he grunted with satisfaction. “Soaked,” his satisfied voice declared as he slid two fingers inside her. “Just like I hoped.”

Was he kidding? She was always wet and ready for him. Especially when she got an up close and personal look at his sexy body. Sliding her hands up the hard ridges of his chest, she smiled as the muscles jumped at her touch, almost as though they recognized the feel of her hands. “I’ve been lying in here listening to you sing our baby girl to sleep. Hearing you with her always makes me melt,” she whispered in his ear.

“Is that so?” Shaw asked, turning his head to steal a wet kiss from her lips. “And have you considered my request while you’ve been in here listening to my lullaby to our girl?” he questioned as he curled his fingers, stroking over the patch of nerves deep inside her that he knew drove her crazy with lusty need.

“You mean the demand you made last night that I give you a son?” she clarified with a gentle smile up at him.

“In my defense, that demand was made when I was balls deep inside your tight pussy, baby. Everything comes out as a demand when I’ve got that sweet cunt wrapped around me. You know the caveman is in control at that point,” he reminded her as he dropped lingering kisses against the side of her neck.

“I do know that. Lucky for you, I’m in love with that caveman and his monster dick,” she laughed, arching her back as she rubbed his hard length against her drenched core. “And since I love both you, the caveman, and the cock you both share, I’ve decided that I won’t mind giving you another child,” she whispered hotly against his ear. “No more condoms for you, sir.”

“Oh, thank God,” he groaned as he replaced his fingers with his bare dick, Shaw slid smoothly inside Waverlee’s ultra-tight sheath. “I love you, Waverlee Jacobson,” he breathed against her ear as he thrust inside her, deep and true.

Lifting her hips for each smooth glide of his dick, Waverlee wrapped her arms around her husband’s neck and gave herself over to the expert touch of her husband.

Heady. Erotic. Each kiss… each touch was infused with a love so pure it touched her soul.

In his arms, she’d found her home. Her heaven. Her one-more-night.

And no one could have ever dreamed a dream this good.

  Acknowledgments

There are so many people that were a part of making this novella a reality.

First, we want to thank our families. To our husbands, we want to thank you for your endless patience and love. To our kids, we want to thank you for making us smile when the words just wouldn’t come. To our parents, we want to say thank you for being a cheering section on the days when we wanted to quit.

Second, we want to thank the #WordSprintSisters, our word sprinting partners in crime. Sonya, Jamie, Layla, Brynne, Mayra, Winter, and Sarah – sprinting with y’all often made the words so much easier to write.

Third, we want to thank the peeps in our Sarah O’Rourke Crazy Crew Street Team. Chicks – your enthusiasm and love through the years is much appreciated. We couldn’t do this without y’all! We also want to give a special thank you to our Crazy Crew manager, Shay Lich. Shay, thank you for being an extra brain when we two crazies could think no more. We love you! And Danielle Deraney Palumbo is the absolute best beta known to womankind!

Fourth, thank you to Crazy One’s mama for always making the time to sit down and read our work. Your set of extra eagle eyes has saved us many a screw-up. Thank you, Mama.

Fifth, thank you to Crazy Two’s momma, who moved in lock, stock, and barrel (much to the delight of her granddaughter!) after Crazy Two had surgery right in the middle of this book creation. Thank you, Momma.

Sixth, we want to thank all of our blogging friends. They often have a thankless job, but still, they work hard each day to promote authors in the indie community that would otherwise receive no publicity at all. You guys ROCK.

And next, we want to thank our readers. Because of you, we’re allowed to follow our dreams and continue this wacky writing journey.

And lastly, we thank God. Because with Him, all things really ARE possible.
