Mountain Man: A Contemporary Romance (Contemporary Standalone Romances Book 3)

“Will you marry me?”
At first, I couldn’t respond because I felt like I was choking on my own happiness. I couldn’t believe this was actually happening. “William, if I could use all the words in the dictionary, they would not even begin to describe the depth of my love for you,” I said as I leaned down onto my knees so we were eye level. “I’ve known it since I laid eyes on you when you first came into the bank. You make me feel safe, cherished, and respected. More than that, you make me feel like I’m home.”
“Is that a yes?” His eyes lit up hopefully.
“Of course, I will marry you, mountain man.”
William smiled as he took my finger and slipped the ring onto it, and the diamond reflected the low light. He gave me an adoring look as he brought my hand up to his mouth and placed a sweet kiss on top of it.
“I asked your mother for permission by the way,” he added, casually.
“What?” I asked, clearly shocked.
“Yeah, she told me to do the roses and the candles,” he admitted, shyly.
“So, she was in on all this?” I asked as I swatted him playfully. “I should have figured. You never get headaches!”
His smile dropped and was replaced with an expression of sincerity. “I do want you to know that you’ve made me the happiest I can ever remember. And I want to make you the happiest woman ever.”
“You already have, William,” I answered as I took his lips and kissed him with everything I had in me before I pulled away and stared up at him. “You already have.”
Epilogue
Six Months Later
Delilah
Our wedding day was beautiful. The birds were singing as they flew from tree branch to tree branch while the insects hummed noisily from the surrounding foliage. There was a crisp refreshing breeze that interrupted the otherwise warm, sunny day.
William and I had been married right behind his house with only my mother and the officiant in attendance. And that was just fine by me. I didn’t need anyone else, and William certainly didn’t as well. While my mother was still sick, she was getting better as each day went by. And I was convinced that William had a lot to do with her recovery. She and William had been inseparable from the moment I introduced them. He would spend most of his time with her during the day while I studied.
Yep, you read that correctly. I was no longer working at the bank and now I was back in school.
Once William learned that I was nearly finished with my degree, he’d insisted I quit working and focus entirely on my studies. Luckily my university offered classes online, so I was able to continue living with and taking care of Mama while studying at the same time. All the while William supported both of us. Of course, I’d fought this arrangement initially, feeling like it wasn’t right for me to take advantage of his kindness, but he’d quickly put an end to that argument once he slipped that ring on my finger. Maybe a week later, William was arguing that it was his responsibility to provide for me, something which (in his mind) took effect as soon as I said yes to becoming his wife.
I was happier than I’d ever been. Mom was recovering, I was able to focus on my studies and all William could talk about were his plans to expand the cabin so Mom and I could live there comfortably. That’s what he and Mom spent most of their time discussing—ways in which they could best maximize the space in the cabin and just how many more rooms needed to be added. William was in favor of making the cabin at least double the size while Mom was much more conservative.
“I’m sorry you didn’t have the big wedding I’m sure you’ve always been dreaming of,” William whispered into my hair as he held me in our large bed. It was just the two of us in the cabin tonight because Mom had insisted we needed our alone time on our wedding night.
“Shh,” I said as I shook my head and climbed on top of him, clamping my hand down over his mouth. “This day was absolutely perfect. I wouldn’t change a thing about it.”
He smiled up at me once I released him. “You know what is absolutely perfect?” he asked as he gazed at me, love filling his eyes. “You.”
I didn’t say anything but leaned down and kissed him on the lips. I loved this man with my entire being, and there was nothing more fulfilling than the idea that he was now my husband, he was now fully mine, and I was his. I was beyond excited about the future and what lay in store for us.
He reached up and started unlacing the satin ties of my white lace bra that matched the white thong and corset I was wearing. He had that expression on his face which meant he was ready to claim me, ready to show me I belonged to him.
“Are you ready to be taken by your husband?” he asked me as my breath caught, and my heartbeat started pounding through me.
“Yes,” I answered immediately. I was beyond ready. Sex with William was definitely my favorite pastime.
He flipped me over as I gasped, and then his fingers were between my thighs, rubbing my swollen nub over my lace panties. I arched up against him and threw my head back as I moaned, my hips gyrating. I could feel his swollen length where it pressed against my thigh. He was wearing only boxers.
“I can’t wait to slide into you,” he moaned as he pushed my panties to the side and shoved his finger into me without any warning. I bucked against him and moaned even louder.
“Please, William,” I begged, knowing exactly what he wanted me to say and do.
“Oh, God yes,” I groaned and then cried out slightly as I felt two of his fingers inside me. The pain was slight but I loved it. Especially when he started pulling his fingers out and pushing them back inside me with force. But even though his fingers felt amazing, incredible, I needed more.
“I want you, William,” I moaned as I opened my eyes and gazed up at him.
He pulled his fingers out of me and yanked his boxers down, at the same time that his penis sprang forward, hard and long, ready. He pushed my legs up, so that my knees were beside my ears and my nudity was clearly visible to him. Then he thrust his pelvis forward, and I felt the head of him at my opening.
“Please, yes, William, yes!”
He pushed in a bit more as I shuddered involuntarily, my body already spasming around his healthy girth. Then he pulled my legs apart, holding them at the ankles as he pushed inside me even more.
“Look at me,” he ordered as my eyes popped open and I focused on him. He was staring down at me. “I love you.”
“I love you,” I answered immediately.
He released my ankles and gripped my butt, pulling me up and further onto him as I wrapped my hands around his huge arms and held on. He was so big, so wide, and the feel of him pushing in and out of me was enough for me to start orgasming all over him.
“That’s it, baby,” he said as I cried out, my entire body going into convulsions around him. I was panting, doing my best to catch my breath but finding it difficult. “Look at me, Angel,” William said, arresting my attention. I didn’t say anything as our eyes met and he smiled down at me. “I want to give you a child,” he said as he thrust his entire length into me. “Tell me you want that.”
“Yes!” I screamed out against him, wanting nothing more than his seed spilling inside of me, giving me something that only he could give me. I gripped his back and sunk my nails into his skin as I felt his rhythm begin to increase, steadily growing faster and faster. “I want your baby, William,” I started as his speed increased, and his breathing grew labored. “I’m your woman, your wife, your Angel.”
“Yes,” he grunted and then shouted out as he grew rigid and shoved the entire length of himself all the way into me. I could feel him pulsating as he released himself deep inside me. A few seconds later, he collapsed against my chest, both of us sweating, out of breath and basking in the glow of our lovemaking.
“You are my everything, Angel,” he whispered as he wrapped his arms around me, and I snuggled into his chest, thinking to myself that I couldn’t imagine ever being happier.

I'm taking the notebook's advice about how to become the ultimate seductress and I'm running with it. There is no way that I will ever grant another man the ability to break my heart.
And then there's Derek Anderson, bad-boy professor—rumored to be in trouble for sleeping with a student—who's taken over one of my classes. He's moody, opinionated, rude and egotistical and he might just make the perfect target for this seductress in training...
DEREK
I'm not a relationship kind of guy. I take what I want from women, usually just a one night stand, and then I move on. I'm not about to get locked down by anyone, especially not a silly undergraduate student, no matter how hot she is.
But Nikki is whip-smart and she won't put up with my BS. I want her like crazy, but no matter how hard I pursue her, she's cool and confident about keeping me at arms' length. I know she's trouble, but there's something about her that makes me think she isn't just one of my easy 'love 'em and leave 'em' girls.
Somehow, I have to keep this ice queen in close proximity. I'm intrigued, but frustrated, too. I don't know how she did it, but the little vixen's got the upper hand—something which is about to change...
