“I do what I can,” Marshall said, saluting them.

After going around for one final round of hugs, they pressed a button on the side of the ship that said DOOR RELEASE.

The door creaked down and touched the ground. They stood at the bottom of the stairs, looking up into the dark ship.

  “We’re back,” Joanna said.

“Yeah,” Roland replied. “The question is: where are we going?”

Roland went first, Joanna close by his side. Nic directed Danny in front of him. He laid Deanna in a seat before going back down the steps to carry Terra up. They closed the door and sat in the ship in silence.

“Anybody else nervous?” Roland asked from the front of the ship.

“I am,” Nic said from next to him.

“Good. I’m not the only one then.”

They didn’t know how they knew where anything was, and yet, Roland and Nic began to press buttons and, before long, the ship was roaring to life.

“How do you know how to fly?” Danny asked.

“We don’t know,” Nic said. “But it’s happening.”

The time setting for the space-time continuum beamed to life. Roland pushed random and sat back in his seat as the colored air began to fill the ship. He looked out of the window.

Marshall was waving at them. Roland gave a soft wave back and wondered if he’d ever see Marshall again.

  “Maybe one day,” he whispered.

They began to rise off the ground, and flew through space and time.

  Together forever.

  About the Author

"Let me be that I am and seek not to alter me."

--William Shakespeare, Much Ado About Nothing.

I have been writing for as long as I can remember. One of my mentors (you know who you are) often reminds me of my first foray into the world of literary fiction. It was a lively story about a bee's journey to find a pot of missing honey. He says that I have improved since then. I think that he's right.

I am a working wife and mother, as well as a devoted owner of a beautiful cat named Rosie. I enjoy hanging out with my friends and family, thrifting, and anything that reminds me of my childhood.

My favorite genres are Sweet Romance, Science Fiction, Dystopian and Historical.
