“You got it, boss.”
Mike grabbed his jacket and headed for the door. He wanted to get home and see his baby. “Lock up when you leave,” he called out as he left the office.
He was excited about finding a place for him and Adam to live, a permanent place. Bringing Cato home with them was just icing on the cake. The fact that Adam wouldn’t have to climb out of bed at the ass crack of dawn didn’t hurt either.
Mike started to whistle as he made his way out to his new SUV. It wasn’t the truck Adam thought he should get, but it was a four-wheel drive. He needed more seats than a truck would allow him unless he got one of those huge trucks, and he didn’t want that.
He started to smile as he drove through town. Coming to Cade Creek, even if it had been on a mission gone bad, had been one of the best things that had ever happened to him. He loved the people, the town, and the man who made it all possible.
In another couple of months, Mike would be able to put a ring on the finger of that man. He had a job he loved, good friends, and an even better lover. He knew life wouldn’t always be this easy or this happy, but for now, it was.
And that was all that mattered.
Adam was waiting for Mike when he pulled up in front of the veterinarian office. He climbed in and shut the door before leaning across to press a kiss against Mike’s lips. “Ready to go see our new home?”
Mike smiled as he looked into Adam’s deep hazel eyes. “I already know where my home is.”
