Eventually, Ray caught up to Stephen in the Faroe Islands surrounded by the North Atlantic Ocean, near Europe. After he was found and all of Amber’s money was returned, with a hefty fine to cover interest lost, Stephen was handed over to the CIA, courtesy of Harold Rice.
Trevor and his girlfriend got swindled out of all their money in the end. The investments that his girlfriend made panned out and turned out to be part of one of Stephen’s schemes. Trevor returned to New York without his girlfriend, needless to say. His new life consisted of drugs, guns, and hoes—the life of a true gangster.
Robert searched for Amber after he returned to the Miami dealership to mend his relationship with her father. He got word of where she was and what had really happened to her. After working with her for months and trying to respect her father’s boundaries was damn near impossible. He had never lost his feelings for Amber, and still wanted to be with her, even after hearing about her stupid mistakes in making her family vulnerable.
“Hello. How are you?” Robert asked.
“Why are you calling me? How did you get this number?” Amber quickly asked.
“Your father gave it to me. I just wanted to say how sorry I am for everything that happened to you.”
“Robert, please, there is no need to rehash painful mistakes that could have cost my family its fortune,” Amber said.
“Yeah, well, I spoke to your father, and he said it would be okay if I gave you a call and ...”
“You’re in New York?”
“Yes.”
Amber couldn’t believe her ears. She looked at the phone before asking, “And you’re sure my father said it was okay to do so?”
“Me and your father came to an understanding. It’s all good,” Robert assured her. “So what do you say? Can I pick you up later?”
“I guess. Do you have the address, too?” Amber laughed.
“Actually, I got that, too,” Robert replied.
“Let me guess. My father gave it to you.”
“Actually, no. I found it out myself.” Robert smiled at the thought of seeing Amber again. “Okay, I will see you at seven.” He hung the phone up.
Amber sat in front of her computer and replayed the conversation in her mind. She didn’t like the fact that Robert had searched for her address. She made a quick phone call to her father. Ray made clear what she had to do.
Amber rose from her seat and grabbed her belongings. She headed for the door. Before she walked out, her manager questioned her about where she was off to. She simply replied, “I have to help my family. My father will be calling you shortly. Thanks.”
Amber pushed open the doors and stood outside. I’m back. This time I’m listening for sure.
