I just laughed and grabbed his face in my hands. “It was perfect baby. There was no way you could have disappointed me. I didn’t care where or how you asked, I just wanted you to ask.”
“Yeah?” he smiled. “Did you like how I slipped that little line in there at the end?”
“I did, now can you show me the damn ring? I want it on my finger.”
“Yes ma’am,” he chuckled and finally opened the box to reveal a stunning white gold band set with several tiny diamonds and then two slightly larger princess cut diamonds with one big one in the middle. He pulled it from the soft velvet and then took my hand in his. He slid the ring onto my finger and over my knuckle. It fit perfectly.
“Do you like it? If not you can pick out something else.”
Instead of telling him how much I loved it, I showed him. I practically leapt on top of him and attacked his mouth, but he seemed to like it and it was a long time before either one of us felt like stopping.
“I can’t wait to be Mrs. Andrew Reid,” my voice came out a little breathless and I watched his eyes darken with desire.
“Say that again.”
“Mrs. Andrew Reid,” I whispered in his ear, pressing kisses to his jaw and neck in between each word.”
“What are we waiting for baby? Let’s head to Vegas right now.” I’m pretty sure he was only half kidding.
“I don’t think so. I want it all and I seem to remember you promising me just that, so you’re in for the fancy dress and the whole works. You’ll wear a tux and everyone we love will be there. We’ll have a real minister, not some ordained Elvis, and I think I’d like to get married back home. When I was a little girl I went to a wedding on Orcas Island and it was so beautiful. I’ve always dreamed of having my wedding there. Oh, and dancing, I want lots of dancing.”
“Sounds perfect.”
Acknowledgments
Thank you always to God, who placed this passion in my heart, who gave me this dream, and who has walked every step of this journey to get here with me. In every up and down I’ve ever faced He has been there, blessing my life in ways I didn’t even realize. When I thought I’d lost my dream, when I was looking failure in the face, He was there to say It’s not over, and give me a new dream, one that had always been a part of me that I hadn’t even realized existed. I also have to thank my parents for being readers and introducing me to the magic of books early on. In fact I can’t thank them enough for all they’ve done for me, for believing in every crazy idea I’ve had, for supporting me and encouraging me even when I knew they had their doubts. I have to say thank you to Shelby and Teri who read my first story, the first book in this series and told me it was worth reading. Without their encouragement I may not have had the guts to publish. I also want to give huge thanks to all of you who read that story and took the time to send me your words of encouragement, your praises and your critique. Thank you to everyone who left a review of Finding Ever After. Each one of them meant so much to me, they showed me where I was strong and where I could improve. Thank you to Chris who believed my story was worth her time, without her, it wouldn’t be what it is. She pushed me to write a better story and provided invaluable feedback throughout this process. Thank you for being a reader and thank you for giving my book a chance.
