Susie would like to thank: Elle, who bravely walked this path with me, never flagging, never losing faith, always believing in the intelligence of two hearts wanting to save the world. Your practice of finding and sharing your unfettered artistic soul is the light I work by. My mom, who has a steadfast optimism that saves my soul. Jill, who showed me where the jewels lie in the waking dream of life. Brad, who lives by example, by committing to love me continuously and unconditionally, and to share in the task of helping the feminine re-emerge in the most deliciously masculine way.
Elle would like to thank: Thank you, Susie, for sharing this path—both on the page and in life—where it blooms in full color. Thank you for living and writing Aphrodite Emerges, and for offering the gems you discovered, along with your powerful therapeutic expertise, as a template for this book. We did it because you bravely did it first. Thank you, Mom and Dad, for showing me the power of unconditional love and always believing in me. And thank you to Tessa, Zoey, Twyla, Austin, CC11, Center Sky, Circa Luna, Lilly, Erica, Elise, Kate, Mabel, Tenzin, Skyler, and Josie—the future of Feminine Power is bright!
This book is set in Mrs Eaves, designed by Zuzana Licko in 1966. It was chosen for Ms. Licko’s dedication to an “overall openness and lightness.” Of the name, she says, “This typeface is named after Sarah Eaves, the woman who became John Baskerville’s wife. As Baskerville was setting up his printing and type business, Mrs. Eaves moved in with him as a live-in housekeeper, eventually becoming his wife after the death of her first husband, Mr. Eaves. Like the widows of Caslon, Bodoni, and the daughters of Fournier, Sarah similarly completed the printing of the unfinished volumes that John Baskerville left upon his death.” (Quoted from the 1996 type specimen booklet for Mrs Eaves titled “More Mrs Eaves.”)
