Dragon Legacy Page 14

by Jane Hunt

The dragon struck its last terrible blow, severing the demon snake's carnivorous, venomous head from its body. The dragon's powerful legs and tail cut through the armor plating like scissors through paper. Fleur screamed and protected the little dragon with her body as the demon snake’s head and neck hit the ground and covered the cave and its inhabitants with demon snake remains and slime.

The dragon dragged the demon snake’s body further into the cave. He blasted through the head with a wall of flames. He pushed the body and burnt head into the cave's deep waters, before he returned for the demon's other head. The eye sockets still burned bright with evil, but the mouth gaped. The dragon dragged the head across the cave and kicked it into the deep water below. He protected the water’s purity. He blew a blanket of flames into the liquid until it bubbled white-hot. The wall of fire cauterized and cremated all the demon snake's poisonous remains.

The demon essence rose from the water as it searched for a new host. The dragon grabbed the walls of rock, which lined the cave and forced them together. They exploded into their purest elements, fell into the cave, and sealed it forever. Satisfied, the dragon stepped back, walked towards the wider cave entrance, and stopped.

Fleur leaned across Zane's dead wolf body. She hugged his neck and sobbed. The dragon’s descendent sat on her shoulder and cried too. As the infant dragon’s tears fell into the wolf’s fur and mouth, the creature revived. He convulsed for a brief moment before he jumped up and shook his fur-covered body. Fleur fell back when he convulsed. Now she stared at him. She offered her hand, and the silver wolf licked it with his long pink tongue. The older dragon blew out a short burst of flame in celebration. The tears from the little dragon possessed healing qualities, which proved him as a force for good. Fleur's significance as his guardian was undeniable when he healed her.

Fleur seemed unaware of Lukas' presence in the cave's shadows. She eyed the devastation all around her. Her gaze fell on Lukas’ body. She ran to where he lay. Fleur cradled his head in her lap and stroked his forehead and face. The dragon basked in her gentle touch as she caressed his human form. Fleur whispered, “I wish you could heal him too.” The little dragon viewed her with its head on one side. It flew into the shadows where the dragon waited. She followed the little dragon's progress until her awed gaze rested upon the spectacular turquoise-scaled dragon as he emerged from the shadows.

She should be frightened and run away. She didn't. Except for his size and the fact dragons did not exist in the twenty-first century, he did not scare her. Relief dominated her emotions. Lukas wasn’t dead, but transformed into his true form. The dragon walked as close as he dared. He bent his huge head, and Fleur laid her hand on it. His power filled her and took her breath away, but the dragon's love healed her heart. The exchange lasted a few seconds before the dragon vanished and Lukas regained consciousness. The four left the cave and its devastation behind.

A rather ragged bunch walked into the conservatory in Hallows House as dawn broke. Evidence from the previous night’s murder mystery event remained. An outline of a body chalked on the floor and the tables strewn with papers full of clues and guesses about the murder's identity. Xavier was someone's guess. Fleur shuddered at the parallel with reality. The normality grounded her. The horror she lived through seemed a little surreal. Had the passionate interlude before happened? Fleur's old worries returned, but she pushed them away. She survived torture and avoided certain death. Amazingly, she became a baby dragon's guardian. Life would never be the same again, whether Lukas shared it with her or not. Fleur greeted Grace and Jasmine as they rushed into the room, full of new positivity.

  “Thank heavens you all survived.”

With a nod of agreement from Lukas, Fleur undid her now very battered rain jacket to reveal the baby dragon. Grace's mouth dropped open with surprise, and even Jasmine was speechless. They answered Grace and Jasmine's numerous questions about the baby dragon and Xavier while they tucked into scrambled eggs. Lukas noticed Fleur swayed in her seat.

  "We all need rest."

"Yes, I can't keep my eyes open. You'll have to excuse me."

  *

Restless, Jasmine slipped on her silk robe and tiptoed downstairs. Sleep eluded her. She needed a cup of tea. Her mind buzzed, full of the adventures and horrors her friends described. Happy for Fleur and Lukas, she longed for her own lover. She didn't lack admirers but they didn't last, attracted by the window dressing rather than the woman. When they discovered her secret they fled. A movement in the garden drew her gaze. Ignoring the kettle's whistle, she stared across the garden's wildness. The moon illuminated a silver wolf. Zane's silver gaze shimmered against the darkness. She turned off the gas and quieted hot kettle. In the garden, the night air chilled her skin exposed by the scant robe.

Zane leaned against the rough stone wall naked. Now the cool air soothed her fevered body as walked towards the enigmatic wolf man. She took the hand he offered her, gaze drawn to his erection solid against his taut abdomen. Closer now he pulled her tight against his hardness. Her mind protested as her body fitted itself into Zane's like a jigsaw puzzle.

  *

Insanity, the only explanation for his actions. Zane lowered his head and tasted his witch's ruby lips. After a whisper of hesitation she opened her mouth and tangled her tongue with his. His shaft hardened beyond the pleasure boundary and pushed against the silk of her robe as it parted and revealed even silkier skin, hot and smooth, against his erection. He lifted Jasmine against him and she opened her legs to wrap them round his hips. He turned and rested her on the top of the uneven wall. She moaned into his mouth. His shaft twitched and probed until it rested against her auburn curls. No underwear. He shouldn't; he meant to say a simple goodbye. Jasmine pushed against his shaft until it eased inside her tight hotness. Too much. He deepened the kiss and thrust into Jasmine's soft sensuous core. Her body tensed and bucked against his invasion. She couldn't be. He tore his mouth from hers and sought her gaze. Dazed, she smiled tentatively

  "Don't stop Zane. I need this. "

His shaft moved inside her. She moaned and pushed against him. He pulled nearly all the way out and then penetrated her slowly as her untutored body accepted his invasion. She relaxed and drew him deeper as her inner muscles trembled against the satin of his shaft. He bent and took her mouth in a possessive kiss as they tipped over the edge towards ecstasy.

  *

Jasmine snuggled into Zane's embrace, her eyes heavy with sleep as she planned their life together in her romantic mind. Zane pulled her robe around her to keep out the cold.

  "I have to go Jasmine."

"Now? Oh, I see. You meant to say goodbye. This is a mistake."

"I'm sorry, if I'd guessed I would have stayed away."

"Don't worry I had to lose it sometime. At least you made it memorable." She wouldn't cry.

  "I don't know when I'll be back."

"Don't ... Just go. At least leave me my pride intact." He vaulted the wall and she heard a rustle in the undergrowth accompanied with howls of pain. She couldn't resist a peek over the wall. The silver wolf sensed her presence and looked up. She smiled through her tears, sure his silver gaze filled with regret...

Lukas cursed under his breath as the hot, bubbly water in the whirlpool bath seared his skin. Fleur stripped off her dirty, stained clothes to shower away the cave's dirt and debris before she enjoyed the delights of the bubble bath which awaited her. She stepped naked under the hot, powerful stream of water and soaped her body and hair. Lukas experienced heat of a different type when he focused on Fleur's naked form. He was a shameless voyeur. The en suite's steamy, perfumed atmosphere provided tantalizing glimpses of her beautiful body as she showered. She seemed oblivious to his presence. Her slim body's outline, visible through the steam, filled his mind with erotic memories of their passion in the cave.

His shaft hardened as she bent and retrieved the sponge she used di
ligently on her now shiny, clean body. His fingers itched to touch her soft, supple skin. He ran his tongue along his bottom lip, desperate to taste the sweetness between her legs. Too much. He needed her. Now. Too hot he levered his body from the deep slipper bath, but stopped when the steam thinned and Fleur stepped from the shower cubicle. Her pale skin glistened with water droplets. His erection, hidden under the bubbly water, tightened. It wanted action, his gaze drawn to her pert breasts and rosy nipples, glowing from the shower's powerful water jet. He bit his lip to stop calling her name. The metallic taste of blood filled his mouth. Soon, Fleur would be his again he slid down into the deep bath until the bubbles hid him.

  *

Fleur didn't want the electric fan's noise. The steamy atmosphere reminded her of a sauna. Naked, she crossed the en suite towards the deep slipper bath. She climbed into the hot bubbly water, the humid, steamy atmosphere made her dizzy. Perhaps she needed the cool air after all. She didn't want to faint. Undecided, her foot slipped, and she tumbled back into hot soapy water.

A firm, muscular arm encircled her naked waist. Exhausted, she missed the obvious explanation. Someone pulled her deeper into the water until she lay back against a hard muscular chest, tight abs, and a hardened shaft. Lukas. He held her tight against him and took her mouth in a possessive hard kiss, which branded her as his. Her eager mouth responded. She slid against him. She must be closer. Lukas broke the kiss and lifted her into his lap. The head of his shaft pushed between her thighs. Fleur shivered, tiredness forgotten. She liked this game. She parted her thighs until his erection penetrated deep into her core. Her arousal fueled his thrusts and the water's caress on her sensitized skin. Slick and hot, she enticed him towards sensual paradise.

  *

Lukas couldn't move. Fleur stole his seduction. Now she initiated the pace and depth of their union. Her inner muscles contracted as she drew him deeper. He held on tight. Fleur was his anchor on reality. She quivered round his pulsating shaft. He lost his tenuous control and thrust hard into her body's dark, magical center. Pleasure and pain were indecipherable, ecstasy the conclusion.

  *

Lukas’ hands aroused her body, a tender, meticulous exploration intent on the removal of all her stress with a thorough massage of every part of her body. He replaced the fire and desperate quality of their first coupling. Boneless with desire, she keened with need. Lukas smiled. He lifted her from the bath and wrapped her in a large fluffy towel, his own aroused body left beautifully naked. She licked her dry lips, mesmerized by Lukas' gaze full of golden fire. He carried her into the bedroom and laid her across the soft cotton sheet. She reached for him, unable to bear the separation. He covered her with his hard body and entered her with agonising slowness. She moaned and thrashed, her nerve endings sensitized with explosive need. Her desperate pleas splintered his control. He roared and spilled his seed into her. Her body swayed on a precipice. He pumped his seed into her core. Every drop of emotion squeezed from her as she convulsed around him.

They slept in each other's arms until the dawn. Awake, the verbal confirmation of their love proved an easy conversation. “I love you, Fleur. I would have sacrificed everything for you, even the dragon egg. You are much stronger than I realized. You saved the dragon without me!”

"I love you, too." Fleur knew he saw her as an equal now, strong enough to survive in his world. Exhausted Fleur let sleep claim her.

  *

Lukas lay awake and enjoyed her soft body nestled against him. Their love would endure. Sleepy, his eyes almost closed. The infant dragon flew in through the open window and onto Fleur’s pillow. Lukas smiled. She looked like a princess in a fairy tale, complete with her dragon. Should he wake her with a kiss, in time-honored tradition? No, she needed sleep. His warrior princess must be exhausted from all her battles fought today. He relaxed; sure he wouldn't have to wait another thousand years to kiss his soul mate.

  About the Author

As a child I had a complete stable of make believe horses and my imagination remains as vivid. Now it creates characters and scenarios which provide the inspiration for my stories. I am so excited to finally have career as a writer. My love affair with the written word started as a teenager. I secretly dreamed of writing the romantic novels I loved to read.

Life had other plans for me. Marriage at twenty-one whilst still at university launched me into a career in health service management. I often thought about writing in my spare time but my career and two wonderful children kept me occupied 24/7.

Illness forced an abrupt end to my career. Always the optimist I seized the opportunity to write full time in 2012. The Dragon Legacy is my first published novel and I am excited to be sharing it with a wider audience.

When I'm not writing I enjoy reading, book reviewing, social media and walking in the countryside. Passionate about animal welfare.
