Prism (Awakened Chronicles Book 3)

by Harley Austin

Turning a corner of a tall softly-lit translucent spire, she saw her, laying on a wide illuminated section of a perfectly square crystal, her body lit softly from beneath, her tattoo oddly more highlighted than the rest of her skin.

The long-dark haired Brazilian watched her, sleeping restlessly, her thick white hair falling and glowing over the edge of the surface she rested on. Romero drew a shallow breath between her full lips. She wondered for a moment what Dade or Chase would think if they found her out her here, watching Lear. What if they woke and found her missing? Maybe she should go back. But she wasn’t ten feet from where Brooke was restlessly sleeping. She could see her, moving softly as if in some restive dream. God the woman was beautiful. Her breasts lifted high off her chest, shifting in sensuous waves as her shoulders moved on the surface of the crystal. Her wide pink nipples looked tall for some reason, even in the warm humid air. Romero’s eyes glided over her softly moving curves and then froze for a moment, drawn to the thick white and half-wild bush between her thighs. Romero’s fingers slipped down to her own bush, usually trimmed and manicured, but now just as thick and wild as Brooke’s.

The Brazilian bit her lip watching the woman illuminated on the glassy, near transparent stone. She felt herself walking slowly toward Lear. She sat on the warm stone right next to her; Brooke looked like a sleeping princess. Romero reached out her hand wanting to just touch the tip of her nipple, but quickly drew back her hand as a name floated from between Brooke’s lips, “Cierra—”

For a moment Romero thought she might be awake, but Brooke just breathed and moved quietly in her restless sleep.

Romero pursed her lips; God she was hard between her legs, her clit throbbed tight watching Brooke’s hips rock softly, her back arching, her arms lifting over her head as Cierra’s name lifted from her lips again.

It was too much for her. Romero didn’t just touch Brooke, she moved herself over the top of her, straddling her legs and kissed Brooke’s sleeping lips as their full breasts met. Olive skin met pale as she felt Brooke’s lips returning her kiss and her arms moved around her Brazilian body and fingers delicately traced her fine curves.

“You’re not a dream,” Brooke kissed her, not opening her eyes, but now awake from Cierra’s skin moving over hers.

“You are—” Romero kissed the woman, trying to hold back a savage passion.

“Hmmm, I’m going to come, Cierra,” Brooke kissed breathily between their lips.

Cierra felt Brooke take her hand and move her fingers into her thick bush. Brooke’s thighs spread as wide as they could between Cierra’s.

Brooke hadn’t been able to sleep with the new god so close to her. She’d come to this place and at first tossed and turned. She’d finally found sleep, but her dream was not of the hunky new god, but of Cierra making love to her in a dreamy romance of movement. Dreaming, Lear’s hands were all over the Brazilian’s fine curves, cuddling her body, kneading her dark-nippled breasts, gripping her ass, all had brought Lear to a desperate edge.

Her lips folded into Cierra’s, her hands on her wandering and gripping her fine Brazilian ass, while Cierra’s fingers lightly touched the wet hardness between her folds, it was only moments …

Romero felt Brooke’s body writhe beneath her. Whatever dream she’d been having must have built her emotion to where it was now because Brooke was all but uncontrolled beneath her body, softly moving and writhing while her kissing lips whined in building ecstasy between her own.

Romero needed to not just be straddling Brooke, she needed to be fucking the woman. She wished she had a cock the size of Dade’s while she pulled Brooke into a sitting position and scissored her legs between Lear’s while pulling their warm bodies even closer. Brooke’s hips were rocking feverishly now against her own.

“OOOHHH! Cierra!” Brooke whined softly into her mouth, trying to keep her voice quiet.

Romero covered Brooke’s open mouth with her own while pulling the woman over the edge of ecstasy in into a powerful climax. Their bodies rocked tightly, their arms and legs entwined, their breasts moving between each other’s as sensitive nipples moved over damp skin.

Romero finally pulled her lips away from Brooke’s to watch the woman writhe and bask in the throws of a release that clearly still wasn’t over yet.

Her lips still parted to take badly needed breaths, Brooke met Cierra’s gaze as their intimate feminine connection still rocked powerful waves of emotion pulsing through her body. They shared more than just a physical connection somehow. Their bodies calling out to each other’s. Cierra was beautiful. Brooke’s hand lifted to her face as she pushed the final waves of a deep ecstasy through her body.

“God you’re so beautiful,” Cierra whispered, watching Brooke move and tremble while tightly embraced with her.

“I’ve wanted you next to me,” Brooke took a deep breath, waiting for an ecstatic tremor to pass, “since the first day I saw you with the others.”

  “I know. I think I did too.”

Cierra’s wild patch wasn’t just damp, but wet with Brooke’s release. A new scent rose between their bodies. Viscerally sweet and saline, Brooke’s pheromones rising between them lit Cierra’s senses like a Siren’s call. She watched Brooke draw a new breath as she gently slipped two fingers between their locked legs and the dove them slowly, deeply into her.

“OHHH,” Brooke’s body trembled with the suddenly intense feeling. Brooke watched Cierra deliberately, feeling her fingers enter her and dance within her.

Cierra then brought her wet hand up from between Brooke’s thighs, savoring the warm scent that lifted from them.

“Awaken me, Brooke,” Cierra breathed, looking into her eyes. “Please—”

Brooke looked longingly into Cierra’s desperate eyes. Taking hold of her hand she moved her wet fingers to Cierra’s own lips, then pressed them between her lips, and into her mouth.

Y ou did this on purpose!” Wynn fumed at Parker; actually he half yelled. Romero lay next to Brayden on one of the puffy sleeping bags in the god camp.

Parker frowned, pursing his lips. At the moment it wouldn’t matter what he said. Wynn wouldn’t believe him anyway.

“Parker had nothing to do with this, Dade,” Lear stepped between the two. “Cierra and I have been dating, wanting to anyway, whenever you weren’t smothering her.”

“I wasn’t—” Wynn thought for a moment. “Smothering her. We were a couple.”

  “Not.” Parker quipped.

Lear whirled. “You stay out of this.” Her finger in his face.

Parker shut his trap and backed away from the woman. He didn’t want to get into an argument with an alien, especially one with a tattoo.

Lear returned her glare to Wynn. “She came to me last night. We made love—not Parker.”

  “You?”

“Yes, me. It probably would have happened a lot sooner but you wouldn’t let her alone for five minutes.”

  “We’re a couple—”

  “So are we!” Lear added.

“We talk about everything. She never mentioned you—”

“Because she knew you’d be upset. Oh, it was okay for her to sleep with you or even Tyler, that was fine. But she couldn’t sleep with another girl.”

Wynn pursed his lips now. Lear had zeroed in on how he felt. Was it that obvious? No, she was right. He didn’t mind seeing Cierra with either of the two of them. Tyler had known her longer that he had. But seeing O’Brien and Lear together, and especially Parker and his sickening doting over Brayden like a couple of love birds, it was disgusting. Tyler didn’t think so, no one else apparently did either. Maybe he was the only one in their group with same-sex issues.

“You should have told me,” Wynn frowned, folding his beefy arms under his thick shirtless chest, wearing just his pants and shoes.

“Oh, so you could throw a fit like you’re doing now? No thank you!” she fumed.

Parker had never seen Brooke so emotional before. He kept his empa
thy away from all of them, but he didn’t need empathy to see how each of them felt at the moment.

“I’m not, throwing a fit,” Wynn snarked, his ire cooling.

“Are.” Tyler quipped, standing behind him.

Wynn tossed him a glare but then turned his attention back to Lear. “I didn’t know. Okay?” he unfolded his arms. “I just thought you guys, you know. Took her.”

“And raped her?!” Parker’s eyes flared taking a step toward Wynn. Dade could suddenly feel the new god’s anger rising within him. It was the wrong thing to say.

“I didn’t know, Parker, what to think.”

“You’ve spent enough time with all of us, Dade,” Parker suddenly realized he was broadcasting his emotions and reeled them back in. Wynn was glad he suddenly couldn’t feel Parker’s emotions anymore. “You know we’re not like that. None of us are.”

Wynn nodded. It was true. They all respected each other’s privacy and who wanted to sleep with whom. Maybe he had been monopolizing Cierra’s time. But they were a couple.

“I didn’t know, Brooke. I’m,” he pursed his lips, “sorry I got angry. I wanted to be the one who awakened Cierra. She asked me to.”

“Life doesn’t always work the way we design, Dade. Do you think I like living my life with this?” she slipped up her sleeve showing the serpent head of her tattoo. “I wished to the gods that I didn’t have it! You don’t always get what you want.”

“I just want Cierra to be happy,” he quipped the cliché.

“Then let her.” Lear pulled her sleeve back down to her wrist.

Wynn said nothing for long moments. Maybe he had been smothering her. Finding out that Cierra had been keeping her thoughts and feelings about Brooke from him hit like a brick against glass. Then again, they hadn’t been dating that long. Maybe she would have gotten around to telling him.

  “I was just—surprised. That’s all.”

“Life is full of surprises, especially when you’re not paying attention, Dade,” Brooke leveled. “All you think about is yourself. If you were really interested in Cierra, we wouldn’t be having this conversation. And you wouldn’t be going off in some adolescent huff keeping a separate camp.”

Wynn frowned. Her words hurt, but she had a point. He nodded.

“You’re a leader, Dade Wynn.” Her tone calmed. “Anyone can see that. Because of that people will follow you—even into hell. But you don’t have the wisdom of a god, not yet anyway. None of us do. Give yourself time to grow. The Universe doesn’t bow to your prejudice.”

“I think she just told you to grow up, buddy.” Parker added.

“Yea, I sort of got that, Parker, thanks.” Wynn scowled.

Lear moved up to Dade; embraced him warmly. He couldn’t help but hold her. She hugged him; and then surprisingly kissed him. O’Brien, Parker and Tyler watched for long moments as both didn’t just kiss but made out until Dade’s hand was riding on her ass. It was the first time she’d warmed up to the guy, and now she had him eating out of her hand with his hips rocking next to hers.

She pulled back softly, Dade’s motor totally revved and the front of tights completely indecent his thick male. Wynn loosed a wanton breath. He wanted to fuck the woman into next week right now.

But she all at once left his embrace, with the poor guy’s hormones still sizzling on high.

“It’s not so easy, staying away from me, is it?”

He agreed. “No. I guess it’s not.” The woman had made her point. Cierra was likely just as attracted to her as he was right now.

“I’m sorry.” Wynn apologized, trying to cool his emotions. “I’ll get our things; we don’t need to be camping out apart anymore.”

“You’re not the only one who likes Cierra, you know,” Tyler mumbled as the two of them left the god camp, moving through the glass flora toward another large stream. The moving water made a subtle and soothing, rushing kind of sound within the huge cavern. “She likes me too.”

“Don’t you think I know that?”

“You don’t act like it. It’s like you own her or something.”

  “I don’t own her.”

“We used to have our own alone times, you know,” Tyler informed. “Now it’s like I need your permission to sleep with her.”

“You don’t, ahh,” Wynn sighed some frustration. “Need my permission to sleep with Cierra.”

  “Damn right I don’t.”

“I guess I need to apologize to you too.”

“You do,” Tyler looked at him as both walked.

“Tyler, I’m sorry. I haven’t handled my attraction to her very well.”

  “Or any of us.”

  “What’s that supposed to mean?”

“I’ve seen you looking at Parker.”

  “Genetic attraction. Big deal.”

“It’s like you’re afraid of it. Like it’s going to make you commit some unpardonable sin. I went to church too, you know.”

  “I guess dogma dies hard.”

  “It does. No doubt.”

They made it back to their camp not far from the others. Wynn began rolling up his sleeping bag.

Tyler unzipped one of the black backpacks they’d commandeered and began packing up.

“Parker’s your best match out of all of us.”

  “Yea. So what?”

“Maybe you should ask him why he wouldn’t awaken you.”

“I already know. He thinks I have anger management issues. That I’m too rash. Undisciplined.” Wynn synched up the ties on the rolled bag.

“You’re not undisciplined. A little too type-A maybe. But so is Cierra. Probably why I don’t see the two of you working, truth be told.”

“What do you know, Mr. Nineteen?”

“Oooh, you’re oh so wise, Mr. ‘I’m barely old enough to buy a beer’.”

“At least I’ve been trained by the Corps.”

“No, Cierra’s been trained by the Corps. They were just using you for blood bait, my friend. Just like they were using me. What we got wasn’t training—more like an intro on how not to end up dead.”

“I’m not going to argue with a teenager—”

“Shhhh! What’s that sound?” Tyler shushed him.

“What sound? It’s just the water.” Then Wynn saw the look of surprise move across his face.

Tyler leaned in close to Wynn’s face, whispering. “Look natural. Turn around like you’re looking at the other camp, but don’t look up. Just look with your eyes at that big spire behind you.”

Wynn understood. He looked around pretending to look over at the other camp. His eye caught what Tyler had seen.

  “Shit. That’s a drone.”

“I wonder how long that thing has been watching us?”

“Probably forever, since we got down here.”

“They would have seen where we put the landmines.”

“Yea, good point. Then sometime after that. They couldn’t follow us so they sent in a drone. We didn’t hear it over the sound of the water.”

“I only heard it just now.”

“Someone’s trying to listen in then. They probably can’t hear us either over the sound of the water.”

“You’re getting that thing dangerously low, pilot. Take it back up.” The lead agent could see the two nascent newbloods discussing something and then kissing. God these kids couldn’t keep their hands off of each other; they fucked like bunnies. He wondered what it must be like to be that attracted to someone. He could have used a little of that attraction with his ex-wife.

  “Yes Sir.”

  “Anything on audio?”

“Just the water noise, Commander. We just get bits and pieces of audio. We’re still reading lips and getting excellent HD on the video feeds, though.”

“Alright. I want that thing kept out of sight. The last thing we need is Parker noticing our surveillance and blinding us.”

  51

I see it.” Parker assured. He didn’t need to be lookin
g at it. The platinum-eyed newblood’s clairvoyance could sense everything about the device clinging to the rock of the cavern roof high above them.

“We have to assume they know everything about us now,” O’Brien worried. “What we’ve said; who’s been awakened. Even you, Brooke!”

“For what good it will do them,” Tyler offered. “We’re on this side of the dam, and they’re stuck on the other.”

“These grand crystals are tough, but they’re not impervious. It wouldn’t surprise me if they started blasting their way through at some point.”

“He’s right,” Lear cautioned. “The mammoth crystals can take massive weight, but their sheer strength is fragile. They can withstand explosives, but it won’t take them long to discover that …”

“… they’re exceptionally vulnerable to projectile bombardment,” the geologist offered.

“We’ve already tried that, Doctor. Our bullets just bounce off the stuff. Projectiles are useless.” The Commander countered.

“That’s because you’re using the wrong projectiles. Your lead or copper rounds are too soft. However, this will crack one of those obelisks wide open.” The geologist handed him a large heavy projectile.

“Jesus, what the hell is this?”

“A Jones round. Point nine-five caliber depleted uranium. Shatters this stuff like they’re pop bottles.”

  “Pop bottles, huh?”

“Munitions already has the rifles on the way. They’ll be here tomorrow.”

“What’s the recoil like on this baby?” the commander asked looking at the one-inch diameter rifle with the yard-long barrel.

“Ugly. Make sure you’re wearing body armor before you start shooting.”

“Where’s Tyler?” Parker returned from a shower under one of the damn’s cascading waterfalls. Wearing just his pants, he dried his hair with a small hand towel.

“Out with the girls,” Wynn offered quietly.

“Like a date? With both of them?”
