  “You make it sound like a boring night,” JJ teased. “Try saying it with a little more oomph this time.”

  “Oomph?” Kendal played along.

  “Yeah, oomph.”

  Kendal stood up, laughed and cleared her throat. “WILD nights! WILD nights! Were I with thee, WILD nights should be our luxury!”

  “That was much better,” said JJ. She smiled and took hold of her girlfriend’s hand as Kendal sat back down. Only this time she didn’t dare let go.
