  “And then?”

“And then I kiss you a little bit, and then we…”

She giggled, then chortled, a contagious sound. He hugged her tightly as his chuckle joined in, and the room rang with the sounds of their laughter.

Laughter that promised joy for all the days to come.

  Epilogue

From the pages of the Green Rapids Gazette, June 12, 1868:

The baptism of Melody McPherson took place at the Community Church Sunday last. Born May 2, she is the daughter of Cord and Rachel McPherson. The McPhersons further celebrated the event by renewing their wedding vows before the altar, with their daughter in attendance.

Godparents to the baby girl were Mr. Jacob McPherson and his wife, the former Lorena Claypool, whose own wedding was the highlight of the social season this past winter.

Friends and acquaintances were entertained at a lavish buffet served at the McPherson ranch, one of our community’s most successful horse-breeding establishments.

From the pages of the Green Rapids Gazette, June 19, 1868:

The featured attraction at the Green Rapids Theater this Friday and Saturday will be a presentation by the Rochester Opera Company.

Additional information may be obtained by contacting the theater manager, Jacob McPherson, either at his town residence at the Imperial Hotel or at the Circle M ranch.

A concert in early July will be the renowned Mr. McPherson’s much awaited local debut as a classical pianist. It is suggested that tickets be reserved well in advance, as this promises to be a notable event. The theater sponsors will attend in a group from New York City, and reservations at both local hotels are at a premium.

  CAROLYN DAVIDSON

Being a Harlequin author has been a delight. And being chosen to help celebrate the tenth anniversary of Harlequin Historicals is the icing on the cake! Writing historical romance, telling stories of love and commitment, has been a gratifying occupation. Almost but not quite as rewarding as marriage to my high school sweetheart, a thriving union that has given us six children and a multitude of grandchildren. Now, after selling eight novels in the past several years, I find myself immersed in the most exciting venture of my life. Write me at P.O. Box 60626, N. Charleston, SC 29419-0626.
